The Official Punisher by Rick Remender / Punisher MAX thread

M.U. vs The Punisher more than made up for the lack of PunisherMAX AND the god-awful one shots they've been dishing out.

My only problem with Maberry's Punisher stuff is that it's all too familiar. Naked Kill was alot like The Slavers and MU vs The Punisher was like Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe.

Still, both were very good. But this lack of Jason Aaron's PunisherMAX is frustrating.

Marvel Universe vs The Punisher was a fun read. I just love Parlov's Punisher. I'd like to see more of his art on the 616 books. Mayberry did a solid job.

I liked the Happy Endings 1-shot. Hot Rods was kinda boring.

I thought MU vs The Punisher was nothing like Ennis's old Punisher kills the MU, I love both of them .....

Funny to me you like the Happy endings One shot over The Hot Rods story, other way around for me ,

Very true about Punisher MAX 10 , I think Steve Dillon has taken on too much with drawing both PunisherMAX and Ultimates 2 at the same time, PunisherMAX 10 keeps getting back listed, it's doing my head in.....

No, it wasn't exactly like Ennis's Punisher Kills the MU, but it was similar in idea. Because that's basically what the Punisher does in Maberry's book: kill everyone in the Marvel U. There's enough differences for it to stand on it's own, but it feels familiar.

Not sure that second part was directed at me or not, but i hated both of those one-shots. But i will say that Happy Endings felt like a evenly paced, complete story. Hot Rods of Death, along with all the other MAX one-shots felt rushed and incomplete.

Man,, it seems like I've been waiting forever for punisher max #10 I'm glad it's out this Wednesday.

Is it? It wasn't on the Diamond list. It must've been a late addition.

this is ridiculous it's 2 1/2 months now. and no punisher max #10

Thank God the Frankencastle thing is finally over. Having just got back into comics, I was disappointed to see Punisher as an undead monster thing for the whole first year. Max has been a breath of fresh air as it stays true to what the Punisher is really all about.

That's certainly true, Punisher MAX has been the true title for Punisher fans , even though it's not 616 universe....

By the way Arron has said that cause Dillon is drawing two books at the moment it has held up Punisher MAX ....

I agree with that. Parlov style is slightly cartoony like Dillons but more gritty and better suited to the Max style. I think it was probably a mistake to use Dillon on Max. Hes a good storyteller but its a step backward as the art isnt quite rough enough for Max imho.

I agree 100%...Dillons artwork is too "clean", especially for the subject matter of the MAX series..

yea this is very true, Parlov is cartoony , but his Punisher is very Iconic, I would love to see Fernandez back too...

And your right about Dillon , as much as I like his art , it is a step back...

Yep - Fernandez is my all time fav Punisher artist ever :awesome:

your right though I asked the local comic book owner "Why the hold up?"
he said it was because of Dillon drawing the ultimates and other project first.

I also was referred to buy the comic "scalped" he told me if I like punisher max by Aaron to buy it,, but I was broke.

but you guys are also right on the 1 shots that is the filler for now until max comes out.

anyways I thought this series sounds good to but it's more like a "PWJ" style

PUNISHER: IN THE BLOOD #1 (of 5)
maybe this is what started this thread too.
I just heard of it myself.

Same here Fernandez is my favorite Punisher artist. I definately want to see his artwork again in a Punisher Max book.

I think PunisherMAX needs some more Howard Chaykin! :awesome:

no, for real. I don't think I've ever hated Howard Chaykin more than anything after having to see him ruin Long Cold Dark with that HORRIBLE first chapter, ruining what otherwise was, in my opinion, Ennis's best Punisher story. That gimp hand he gives Frank in that "What If...?" scene where he's drinking with Frank Jr. and his son-in-law still offends me. No artist should be that bad. Ever.

And then, of course, there's his War Journal run...:barf:

I don't mind Dillon at all. His work is simple and effective. Not sure If I'd go so far as to call him a step-back, but I found his work pretty brutal. And I'd really hate it if they replaced him to finish out this trilogy of stories.

How long is the Ultimates story?

Laurence Campbell, Das Pastoras and Tomm Coker all did a good job on art with their short stories in PunisherMAX #75. I'd like to see any of them get a full time shot at MAX after Dillon.

Campbells work on the Punisher is great, he could do loads more and I would be well happy!

I would rather see Goran Parlov come on for a extended stint on PunisherMAX (perhaps even as its regular artist), as well as Lewis LaRosa to work an arc or two. I find LaRosa's rendition of the old, grizzled, veteran Frank one of the best, especially after The Cage.

Lawrence Campbell, that reminds me, I need the Naked Kills trade.

I like LaRosa too but didnt he suffer from ill health when he was doing the Bad Planet series? Hope he pulled trough it - his very first issue of Max was awesome!

Incidently folks your aware there is a good possibility of a Punisher cable show too? :)

Punisher...Hulk....Cloak and Dagger.....

I'm all for Punisher on HBO. I think Marvel should do a series on FX or AMC called Marvel Knights and rotate/intertwine the street level B-characters that couldn't carry a film. Cloak and Dagger, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Shang-Chi. It could be like the movie Crash where all of there lives intersect over the course of the season while going up against a common threat like The Kingpin or Hydra.

If it's successful, the 2nd season can drop some characters and bring in new one's like Paladin, Doc Strange and Moon Knight. It could be like MTU on TV.
