may I ask why? she's not a bad actress, no worse than that wooden cutout they cast as Rachel Dawes, she's the age the film makers are looking for, plus she's already starred in a movie with Christian Bale. Not to mention she's pretty damn hot.

First actress that came to mind was Michelle Rodriguez due to her work in SWAT.

Eva Longeria is a no for me. She's too hot.

Michelle Rodriguez gets my vote. I really like her (also liked her character in lost, pissed me off when they killed her), her attitude just pours off the screen and she'd be able to stand toe to toe with any of the heavyweights already in the cast, esp Batman/Bale which is important. Showing a cop that is not intimidated by his presence would be great,one who also maybe talks back to gordon and questions his involvement with a vigilante but by the end of the movie comes round to grudgingly accept the need for a Batman.

Yeah, Michelle Rodriguez has always been my first choice to play Rene, both being tough Dominican chicas, plus there're rumors she's having a lesbian romance with Kristana Loken (the chick from Terminator 3)

but if they don't touch on the lesbian part or if they're just looking for the generic Latina cop in her 30s, my choice is Eva, she was pretty decent in The Sentinel

See, I'm just tired of Michelle playing the tough chick. If you've seen one Michelle Rodriguez tough chick role, you've seen them all. The great thing about Batman Begins was that most of the actors were playing roles you wouldn't have thought they could play. While I would have picked someone closer in looks to Falcone, Tom Wilkinson did a pretty good job, considering you rarely see him in roles like that. Not to mention Gary Oldman, who never plays the same kind of character twice. Cillian Murphy as Crane/Scarecrow, again, very much against type.

Rodriguez as Montoya would just be too predictable.

Yeah but if Bullock aint making an appearance in the movie this dynamic could well be taken up by Montoya(if indeed it'll exist in the movie at all, my money says it will). She'd be more able to interact in action scenes with Batman compared to a doughnut scoffin' Bullock. Bullock would be a little similar to the Flass character already established ( in the 80's comics wasn't Bullock either suspected of being corrupt or was borderline?).

Yup, good point. I wouldn't mind just casting a relative unknown for the part. Doubt Montoya would have a big role anyway.

I'd say she's both, but not much like Bullock. Bullock is the type of guy I think who would badmouth Batman face to face. Montoya wouldn't do that.

I'd like to see Montoya portrayed as a rookie that stumbles onto Gordon and Batman's uneasy arrangements. Thus she's kind of brought into the fold accidentally and Gordon keeps her there. I'd be fine with Michelle Rodriguez honestly but the last thing I want is some dolled up cop. I need her to look... normal... like a tough female city cop.
