Age of Ultron The Official Scarlet Witch Thread - Part 2

I really like that Joss is focusing on what to use and what not to in this film. Godfather II is a big influence. Its all about keeping it lean and mean and not treating the audience like babies. Spider Man 3: I like it too. I know people always bash it, but for real, its a very enjoyable movie even with its flaws. I love all of Raimis films I really wish they were part of the MCU. That wouldve been great.

Mate this new one will be better than all the past ones.

I love that approach because it allows for the audience to get exactly what they need without a bunch of filler & b.s. in between. I wish more filmmakers (be it in the comic book genre or otherwise) would jump on board with this notion.

Totally agree. You don't need every bit of the characters' histories detailed in the film. Stuff like who a character's parents are should be cut out, unless it contributes to the character's personality and motivations, or the theme of the film. I'd say even power origins don't need mentioning, except the superhero genre seems to be really anal about origins...these days, anyway.

Hmmm, this doesn't seem pointed at all.:woot:
I completely agree with you though, there is a difference between show don't tell and showing everything.

The whole backstory thing in movies is def not needed for everyone, esp in a ensemble movie like this. You can explain it through words or give hints.

Another director that doesnt do that is Quentin Tarantino. He just gives backstory/history through dialogue often and it works. Plus it adds a nice hint of mystery/intrigue. They can always revisit the origins later on anyway

Parents are easy to gloss over or ignore. They never met their dad, and mom died when they were little. Comic fans know what they're hinting at, and the GA feels bad for them.

I really hope that we don't have to wait till Infinity War to see the Twins again after this film.

I'm willing to bet my paycheck that they will appear in Civil War, albeit in a smaller role. There really aren't too many other places for them to logically appear.

And since their actors are not huge stars it'd be much easier to negotiate a sane appearance fee for another ensemble piece.

They're no doubt signed to the usual long term contract (at least 6 films) so those salaries are probably already set unless they can force a re-negotiation like the original cast though that seems less likely since they'd have less leverage.

Oh I was meaning more that they probably wouldn't have as high a salary to begin with, meaning that it wouldn't necessarily mean there'd be drama trying to get them to appear in other movies (for instance Marvel not needing to make them take a pay cut or something).

Close up shot of Scarlet Witch from the poster.

she kinda looks like an attractive Maggie Gyllenhaal in that poster

Hey hey hey now. Maggie got the body.

Oh look, SHH complaining about women in CBMs not looking good enough, it must be a day that ends in Y.

I may be in the minority but Maggie in The Secretary was sooo hot.

who complained?

but seriously, I also didn't really mean to start any sort of hotness discussion, but was just stating that she looks startlingly like Maggie G in that pic, but added the "hotter version" part so as to not straight up insult Ms. Olsen

No worries. I didn't assume you meant it to be malicious.

But Maggie's looks got a lot of heat on these boards (look we all get it -- she has unfortunate cheeks), and it was nothing compared to the Spidey Boards' treatment of Kirsten Dunst, Shailene Woodley and even (to an extent) Bryce Dallas Howard. It just gets sort of old and I'm just pointing it out for anyone who wants to, I don't know, take it into consideration when they post about these particular women (or any women). I'm not trying to stir up anything either. :cwink:

And I agree she looks like Maggie there.

I'm not seeing the Maggie comparison myself. And oh look, someone on a CB message-board taking a cheap shot at an actress's looks for no good reason, how original :(

Scarlet Witch could be in Doctor Strange perhaps? We're apparently not getting an origin story for Strange, but we still need an audience surrogate to introduce us to this brand new world. So perhaps Wanda serves that purpose, looking for some information on her abilities.

only 2 months, they really need to unleash the onslaught already, give us more of the twins!
Thinkin bout signing up for the marvel collector corp thing, really want some funkos of QS and SW, hoping they'll have some exclusives

...

and oh look, someone on a CB message board getting ******** over a joke and leaving passive aggressive comments about it, how very original
