I really think people should've learned a long time ago the MCU has no intention whatsoever of remaining faithful to the comics. They do their own storylines and I'm loving it. I love this Spiderman.

I would argue they do for almost every other character/group.

Even Ant-Man gets more respect than Spider-man. Spider-man is the sacrificial lamb of the franchise. He's not even had a single villain who is interested in him or sees him as a threat. Both of his villains have been out for revenge against Iron Man.

It's kind of pathetic, isn't it? Imagine a Batman film where the villain doesn't care about Batman at all.

Dude. This character has been rebooted twice on the same decade. They had no choice but to make very different choices so it doesn't look like they're repeating themselves. The core of Spiderman, his values, his dilemmas, are all still there just different. I have no problem loving this version of the character and general audiences/critics don't seem to have a problem either, I loved this film and hope it reaches a billion.

Also. His villains do see him as a threat. Why do you think Vulture, Scorpion, Mysterio and Shocker want to kill him?

Mysterio literally said in this film that he didn't want to kill Peter Parker. And lamented that he had to kill him because he figured out the secret.

The overall motivation for both villains has been revenge against Tony Stark. Both have seen Peter as a nuisance - not a threat. Both only wanted to dispatch him when he got in their way of getting the person they actually cared about.

This Spider-man is concerned only about Tony Stark and the Avengers.

Where's the dilemma about his identity? A few throw away lines before he tells Aunt May, Ned, "MJINO". He walks around freely without his mask. He tries to leave his costume behind because he doesn't feel like being Spider-man on his trip. He never mentions Uncle Ben.

All he cares about his Tony Stark. Just like his villains.

He's a sidekick. Nothing about this is comics accurate. Find me a single issue of a comic where Peter Parker behaves like this.

So why do think in Homecoming he feels closer to the comics than here out of curiosity?
If you notice I never made that claim. I just stated I liked HC more than FFH and thought it was a better movie.

That said... The humor aspects are more deftly handled all around in HC for me. For the somewhat rookie super hero story that was HC I more than accepted a less confident and therefore more verbally reserved Peter/Spidey. Despite that the humor was less shrill and grating in HC. In FFH everyone outside of Peter himself, up to and including Ned, May and MJ are paper thin caricatures. No one is talking or acting like a real person. Some exist solely to facilitate jokes. Now... These are supporting characters but I think they deserve just a pinch of inherent dignity.
I don't know what is gained by the film having the entirety of people in Spidey's orbit come off as nincompoops, or in MJ's case, one note cyphers with no reason to exist outside of the mandate that our hero have a love interest.

I know I forgave Homecoming because I thought it was an “in” to the character in the MCU.

I rolled my eyes in frustration in this one. Every time this movie got some momentum it was immediately pushed off course by Nick Fury or Tony Stark or some other part of the MCU. Spider-man has now physically battled Thanos, but the MCU still treats him as a joke living in Iron Mans shadow.

There’s no progression or love for the character. This movie is literally a foot note to the characters the MCU seems to care about more. This was Marvel’s “clean up” movie following Endgame.

This is fair. I too am not crazy that these Spider-Man films have felt like spinoffs when they trusted other characters like Black Panther and Guardians to stand on their own.

I’m pretty sure the reason why Spider-man seems more integrated to Tony than others is because of the Sony deal. I’m pretty sure I read that Sony only let Feige get the character back if they promised to put other MCU characters in the movies.

MCU spiderman is not comics spiderman at all. Its funny how everyone was dying for disney to get it back and they make the most different and unfaithful adaption of spiderman on the big screen by far.

I think spiderman ps4 has really destroyed the mcu spiderman. That was probably the best spiderman we have ever gotten. It was different but was still SOOOOOO SPIDERMAN. It felt so much like spiderman with everything they did.

MCU spidey is currently the worst spidey ongoing. Ps4 and the spider-verse are ahead.

One thing they did improve on compared to homecoming was the action. I liked those sequences at least!

It works for me I've loved both HC and FFH and I totally get why they had to change things up.

We have tons of other Spider Man things to enjoy if we want a more traditional take.

Saw it it wasn’t the best Spidey film as some people claim it to be but it was an entertaining film from start to finish. Mysterio v Spidey was really good

It's a solid movie, but a pretty bad Spidey film.

No I noticed but your responses to me started by what appeared to be you disagreeing with me that Peter being a wiseass in FFH felt more true to the comics than how he was in Homecoming, so I wasn't entirely sure.

I think your criticisms are fair however I have those very same criticisms of the supporting characters in Homecoming. I do agree though that HC is better constructed but I had more fun with FFH.

One thing I did like better about HC was flash. Seemed like he had less screen time in this one.

Loved the quips from the first movie. The quips were oldly missing from the sequel. They were in that restaurant trailer sequence but that scene was inexplicably removed for the movie. A little frustrating considering that scene has completed special effects.

Man I'm kind of surprised to say this, but I thought Homecoming was much better. Yeah the action sequences are vastly superior in this, especially the stuff with Mysterio, but other than that and Tom Holland still giving a really solid performance there is a lot about this movie that just didn't really click with me. The humor fell flat many times IMO, and with all this hype around Gyllenhaal I was honestly expecting more from him, but he is definitely no Michael Keaton. He's good and I still liked him as the villain, but Keaton's Adrian Tooms was far more menacing. I don't even think any of Gyllenhaal's scenes ever came close to something like the car scene in Homecoming which is pretty disappointing considering the level of talent he has. I don't know maybe it's just me, but it felt like he was playing it pretty safe and one note for the most part. Also, a lot of the side characters annoyed me quite a bit in this even Ned who I actually didn't mind in the last one. Seriously, why was he even in this, because I didn't give two ****s about his romance with Betty Brant even though it was kind of cute the first time, and I'm still not really liking these portrayal's of Flash Thompson and Mary Jane. The post credit scenes were pretty dope though, especially the first one.

7/10

I was alright with pseudo-Flash having less screentime. I would have been fine with Ned and Harrington having less too. And Brad not even existing because he was pointless.

I liked flash in HC I know he is not like your big bully but he acted like a bully in how he picked on peter.

To me he acted like an annoying nuisance whom Peter has no reason to even care about, considering he’s smaller, less attractive, less intelligent, and even dorkier than Peter and nobody seems to like him. He literally has nothing on Peter besides I guess being rich.

Yeah I am pretty much done with this MCU version of Flash as well. I was only meh on him in Homecoming, but he was even more annoying in this and it felt like he had even more screen time here which made it worse. Honestly, I think I might be done with the majority of the side characters unless they can somehow improve the writing and give them more to do in the next movie. I also really hope they don't bring back the teachers played by J.B. Smoove and Martin Starr either. So much of the bad comedy came from their characters being completely unfunny.

The filmmakers obviously think the whole gaggle of annoying schoolmates/teachers are way funnier and more likable than they actually are. That whole first chunk of the movie where it’s like we’re trapped in an unfunny high school romantic comedy is a chore. Nobody in that whole school group is likable apart from Holland himself. And Zendaya I guess is....alright.

With talk about like ned, flash, mj etc I think it is a big reason why has much has I love this movie I still have to give the edge to spiderman 2 has the best spiderman movie still. Harry was so good in that movie and scence like there is a hero in all of us with Aunt may and heck the part with peter and Aunt may when he tells Aunt may about the night Uncle ben died are all such good emotion moments and there is nothing really like that in this movie.

Homecoming had no emotional depth at all. FFH had a little more, like when Peter is crying and venting to Happy about feeling unworthy, but it’s still lacking. There’s no depth in the Peter/Ned relationship because Ned is a cartoon, there’s no depth in the Peter/May or Peter/MJ relationships either.

It kind of does Tom Holland a bit of a disservice because he’s so good as Peter Parker and he can pull off dramatic emotional moments, they just very rarely actually give him any.

In homecoming when Peter has to leave liz at the dance to go after Vulture was good has him going and not backing down from Vulture was such a spiderman thing to do and you felt for him on that one I would say but not like the stuff I brought up from spiderman 2. Yeah I dont mind Ned but harry in spiderman 1-3 was better and they felt closer than Peter and Ned. Yeah with May and Peter you dont really fell any like conflict/disagreements/hard moments or any thing. The part with Spiderman having a lot of people asking him questions was good and I could fell something towards that has I am not good with people my self and have trouble with social anxienty and that wouldn't be easy for me to deal with a situation like that either. Heck MJ I could understand her in spiderman 1-2, 3 I hated how they wrote her and while I did like MJ more in this than HC there wasn't really any emotion deapth like you said more like just awkwardness.

Without the mid credits it would be 9/10.
The scene kind of ruined it for me so its like 7/10 now.

Spider-Man: Far From Home
Had a few problems with it, but it's ultimately a fun Spider-Man movie. And in many ways, this is more meant to be a movie about life after Tony Stark. My major issue with this movie is early on. I can't tell whether its studio interference or a bad editor, but the first hour of it feels very sluggish. There's no sense of downtime for any of these characters. They quickly move from one spot to the other. What saves this movie for me are the characters moments and interactions with Peter and his classmates. Tom Holland continues to be great as Peter Parker and I dig the comedic moments with the globe trotting summer class trip. Once Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio enters the equation and you get that reveal, it slowly became a better movie. As for Nick Fury and Maria Hill, I thought they were sleepwalking through it, but I get why they did it. Another problem I had with it was it relied on way too much noticeable CG, but I suppose you can't really have a villain like Mysterio and not have an abundance of CG. As a whole, I thought it was fine for a Spider-Man movie but slightly disappointing, I really do hope they give time for the next movie to breathe like Homecoming.
