While I liked X2 I still find it a bit... hollow, especially in the direction. It had a kind of TV feel to it. Dunno how to explain!

Yeah, me too.

I don't thing Singer is very good at handling budgets. IMO.

YES! happy to hear this new, unlike the hoards of singer haters around these boards.

You guys need to realize this could also just be Singer camp outlash due to the recent JLA rumors... Singer knows WB has a wire attached up his butt hole and its only a matter of time before WB lights it on fire... franky... I just can't see how he plans on directing three movies in such a short span... it just can't be done... they have to start SR in a little less than a year... probably 6 months since they need to get pre-production going... I am hoping WB lights him up... bring on Peterson for a JLA.

^ could be, but im just hopping maybe the heat you're talking about will push singer to focus on the new Sups sequel.

Exactly...There should be official word coming from the studio as to the future of this francise.

I keep thinking just how darn good a J.L. trilogy could be. very good possibilities with it, if they do it right.

Good news, let's just hope it's true. There's plenty of "info" flying around about this situation and it's getting harder and harder to tell what's legit.

If they did a JL movie what happens with the Batman francise?

is it expected that the JL movie will have Sups and Batman? i just assumed they'd not be in it.

Well would it happen after the third Batman flick? Has there been a time frame on the possibilities of that happening?

third batman movie wont be out for prb another 3-4 years or so... im guessing if there movement on a JL movie, it would be happening sooner.

Singer didnt drop out of Logans Run. As with other Joel Silver productions, it never really got off the ground besides some pre-production. The studio was weary about it plain and simple.

They got weary because Singer dragged his feet until they let him out of the contract. If Singer actually wanted to make Logan's Run, he could've done it after X1, after X2, or after SR. The fact is, he kept delaying it and pushing it back until the studio got sick of it and fired him. That is how directors tend to get out of contracts.

Horn and the heads of WB's are going to wait to see the 1st or 2nd draft for the sequel and see if Singer and his writers will be significantly improving on Returns before they officially greenlight it. Singer just needs to bring some serious villains for Supes to battle who have not been seen before onscreen. Preferably two of these four Metallo, Braniac, Doomsday or Darkseid while Luthor of course would be there as well. The action of course needs to be
increased and at the same time Singer and the producers need to make the sequel more of stand alone film and not something that will be carbon copied from previous Superman films.
I actually think they aren't going to wait. And we have this out today after Singer's boys shot their mouths off about a definate sequel:

The future of the studio's recent comic book adaptation, 2006's "Superman Returns," is somewhat more dubious. That film cost $209 million (even after various tax rebates) and marketing costs sent expenses upward of $300 million, but director Bryan Singer's Man of Steel picture made only $201 million domestically. While insiders say the movie was profitable, the studio mandated major cost cuts before proceeding with a sequel.

"If we do a sequel to 'Superman,' we want it to be less expensive," Horn acknowledges. "I have to see a screenplay before I say yes to anything. But the studio would be willing to spend as much as $175 million if the screenplay and other factors warranted it."

As someone pointed out in the other thred, "If". I think the WB is laying down the groundwork for passing on it. They know it is going to be a dog, and they have a JLA script they are really happy with, and they need a 2009 or 2010 tentpole, so they need to move on it now.

As you can see in my sig, i think its one of the best CB movies ever, and thankfully the crapness of X3 hasnt diminished its effect either.

i agree they want wiggle room to drop the movie if its not gonna work... I agree that's a fact, and I'm a massive supporter of Singer and 'SR'.

having said that, I can't imagine we'll ever see this JL movie with Batman and Sups... At least not live action.

Thats what my previous statement basically said. Horn confirmed it....he wants to wait to see a script and what direction they will be going with the SR sequel before he greenlights anything. He wants the budget to be no more than 175 million.....which all sounds good to me. Horn is being smart.

Also from what Spacey has said it seems he has been under the assumption that the sequel will be out around 2009 and that he has seen a draft and he will be ready to go as Lex. So we can safely assume that Dougherty and Harris are working on the sequel screenplay as we speak.

I still think it could go either way at this point, either an S.R. sequel, or a J.L. film.

You guys seem to forget that WB is also eyeing a "Teen Titans" movie. There was no new information since the announcement a few months back, but in Hollywood ... you know the rest.

Wouldn't be surpised to see the "Titans" try out before the big guns are called. That way, WB wouldn't destroy their A list heroes if it'd flop.

Teen Titans doesn't even have a script yet right? I thought it was just concept. JLA has a script and Mike is writing a Returns sequel. Seems like Titans is on the back burner, unless it has a script?

That's why I wrote "but in Hollywood ..."!

Remember how quick Singer got his job or how quickly Nic Cage was out of the suit even though the movie was ready for principal photography the next day?

Those WB guys are clueless as for what they want. If it's option A or B they usually go for C. Their like Singer, every day at work is an adventure.
