i hope we start hearing some casting news soon.

not thrilled by most of the suggestions in this thread.

Its frustrating but we have to be patient they'll announce something when we least expect it

With Ryan Reynolds, we have a 6'2 imposing Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.

We can't have a short Superman, it would be almost insulting to the character IMO.

Every time I see an Ashton Kutcher movie advertised, I find myself rolling my eyes. When is Hollywood going to give up on this guy?

He was great and That 70's Show and as the jerk boyfriend in Cheaper by the Dozen and good in BE, but he just is bad in everything else I've seen him in and his schtick is very old

Ironically a enough he was a model along with Tom Welling. Had Kutcher not been on That 70's Show he probably would have had a better shot at being Superman , but the fact of the matter is people view him as Kelso and if he did play the role people would see it as Kelso playing Superman . The issue would be the same if Nic Cage got the role.

Someone I think has a good look for Superman, but probably doesn't have the chops acting wise is Alan Ritchson

He's another Smallville alumni , and his acting isn't the strongest.

Yep...with you 100%! Not that they will ever end up on the big screen together, but the principle and logic of the matter is still spot on.

I think Ritchson makes a good Aquaman, but doesn't quite have the look for Superman.

I watched the Chelsea Lately episode last night that had Armie Hammer on it and he seems like a decent, straight-up guy, can act fairly decent and is tall, but his looks still don't scream or say "Superman" to me.

Alan Ritchson is horrible in every way.

I'd actually prefer Nick Cage over him, yep he's that bad.

I wonder when there will be some serious news. That producer interview said they haven't even started pre-production on Superman or Batman. Sometime this summer or something? If the actor came out fully costumed as Superman at Comic-Con, that'd be one hell of an announcement.

Ok looks like I made a slight faux pas, Adkins is indeed 5"11 and not 6"3 a which rules him out in my book as well, I want a tall superman. I was reading about him a particular site and they said he was 6"3 . . . Apologies.

I've seen Kutcher in 3 films - The Guardian, Butterfly Effect and Spread - and he was fine in all of them. I'd even go as far as to say he was pretty good in Butterfly Effect and Spread. I know he's done some corky comedies and tv shows, but I don't really understand the hate for this guys acting

indeed, a lot of people seem to think they are experts on what is good or bad acting. Kutcher is a perfectly good actor, its his choice if he deserves to do reality shows and comedy movies. when he does actually do a decent movie, he usually delivers a good performance.

anyway, ive seen better performances by actors in B movies than by many so called "great" actors.

Acting wise, yes he is horrible (although he's funny on BMS, but that doesn't require much).

I was just mentioning he had a good look. Too bad he's not a good actor

They announced Routh (Sept??) late 2004 iirc and the movie came out June 28th 2006. Going by this timeline we might not hear who they pick until this summer. Actually March/April seems likely.

TDKR starts filming in May/April for a July 2012 release and beyond the title we don't know very much about the casting of this film.

I'm not a big fan of his...but I was pleasently surprised by his performance in THE GUARDIAN.

I found him in the Superman Homepage.
I hope he´s not Superman.
I didn´t like the guy.

Sadly, for me, no one has even come close to matching the look Christopher Reeve had. He just (in my mind) looks like Superman.

Isn't comedy supposed to one of the hardest things to do? And by all accounts, I find him hilarious in BMS. Total drama queen.:woot:

But I haven't seen him in anything other BMS & Smallville, so I couldn't say he's a bad actor. Maybe he hasn't had the oppertunities to stretch his chops.

Wrong for Superman though.

I'd be cool with Hammer, he seems to on the up & up. I don't expect any casting details before the summer, maybe even CC.

Not soon enough, can't take this guy seriously as a person, let alone as an actor. Great match for Demi though, both aren't particularly bright and wouldn't have gone too far if not for their looks. Oh yes, he was great in That 70's show though, but only because he IS Kelso.

Demi is a great actress.

As for Kutcher, considering the movies he's mainly commercialized for are comedies, and he's a decent comedic actor, he's alright by me. I would like to see him try to break out of that mold more though.

I wouldn't go so far, I'd say he's a good comedic person, since good comedic actors are more versatile. Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Alec Baldwin, those are good comedic actors. And on the other hand, good comedians aren't so dorky when they're not performing.

Demi used to be good, but went off the track at some point. Great, I think she never was. Meryl Streep is a great contemporary actress in my book, for instance. I can't picture Demi's career going anywhere in the future. :word:

Anyway, Kutcher is just wrong for Superman, and I'm glad even him can see that.
