John Krasinski is one of the only known actors IMO who has the stature (6'3''), the charm, and the acting ability to deftly pull off Clark.

Couldn't see him as Superman, he's got too much of that goofy look going on just like Zachary Levi

He has more of a Superman build than Levi. And since when did Kal-El come from planet Zoolander instead of Krypton?

LOL. He doesn't have to come from planet Zoolander, but Kal-El is usually portrayed as a fairly handsome male of the non-goofy variety. Big nose, big ears and long face don't really scream Superman to me - but hey, that's that just my opinion. If you want a Superman that makes people laugh, go right ahead :awesome:

I guess I kind of see your point.

Edit: However, I think Krasinski may be likable enough that people could see past any "goofy'' features he has.

Yes i noticed the date on it and i understand he could very easily be made to change his mind but i still think casting him as Superman would be a huge mistake !

James Lafferty for Superman has been mentioned before.

He's one of the better names. He has the height at 6'2. Enough to go head to head with Ryan Reynolds.

And the right build frame for Superman is there:

He meets the most basic requirements.

Those other names are just... painfully bad.

No offense, but please, no one from "One Tree Hill." I beg of you.

He's not as awful as Manganiello.

Lafferty actually has some range.

Not my favorite choice, but decent.

James Lafferty - long schnoz, weak chin

John Krasinski - simply doesn't look like Superman

The actor should have a natural appeal to the character that is Superman. James Lafferty has that kind of look as does Harmon Walsh.

i disagree about James Lafferty. he does not look like Superman to me. my vision of Superman has a nice, solid chin and a regular sized nose...Lafferty's nose is long and his chin is short. Harmon Walsh has a good look ( though his eyebrows are kinda freaky) but unfortunately, his voice lacks power and his acting does nothing for me.

if not Routh im really digging Harmon Walsh. Do you guys think he'd be up for the role? or wait.....let me refrase this....do you think wb is even looking in his direction? :whatever:

Not to shy away from the truth about a favorite of mine i do agree with the power of Harmon Walsh's voice. If it's something that can be dealt with then he'd be my favorite but if not then i believe it would be detrimental to his chance of being Superman if he really even has one !

I think part of the issue is there are different ways people think of superman.

It seems here a lot of folks are very attatched to the baby faced wide eyed pretty boy idea of him.

Then there are some that see him like their aging dad.

Well, I see him masculine and powerful, he can be friendly and ussually is, sometimes even a bit cocky, but there is a side of him that can look fully in charge, dominant, alpha. When facing down a villain, yes imposing. - Joe M seems the closest to how I envision the character, out of the current list.

I suppose I usually suggest a pretty boy, because I can't find any masculine and powerful actors that have the look, and also because I do think Superman has to be hot stuff as well as looking imposing.

I can understand in that sense why people are voting Joe. He's got a nice charm to him on True Blood, 'man behind the power' thing going on.

But I just can't get past a few things about his facial features and past acting history.

Here are some possible new faces in here. We need it. Or I need it... Tv-actors or not

David Conrad (6' 1" (1.85 m)

Would you believe the guy is three years older than Hamm? Bit too old, but shame cause I might have been on board (once I get past the thought of him as Agent Pierce on Roswell :hehe:)

Actually, the more I look at him, and the more I think about the fact that as Agent Pierce he was a great villain, maybe he'd make a great Lex. I can see it in his eyes.

Did you guys see the date on that? 2/24/10.

So... I hadn't read it, and found it absolutely cemented my NO to John Hamm. I would now petition against it.

Can't believe he said this...

Superman is Superman — he's invincible, so where's the drama?

He does NOT understand, nor deserve the role.

No offense, but please, no one from "One Tree Hill." I beg of you.

Seconded!

Walsh is a theatre-trained actor, which means you have to know how to project your voice to the back row of a theater. I am sure he could power up the voice if directed to do so. Eyebrows can be waxed and that is the only challenge I see with his look. He already has an athletic build, so he should easily be able to put on some muscle.

well with the new thread i thought id repost my suggestion:

Ryan Mcpartlin:

Never seen this guy act but he does have a very good look to him. How tall is he?

How can anyone see Superman in Manganiello is BEYOND me. He looks like a freakin' *****ebag. Just muscles and no charisma.

Hamm is JUST WAY TOO OLD. And he looks it.

 couldn't agree more about the voice. Too much judgement is made on a small amount of footage. What's not to like about Harmon Walsh? He is theater trained, in late 20's to early 30's -- so the age is good. He doesn't look like a young boy (ahem Henry you know who) nor does he look like an old man (Hamm). Not to mention he is a lengthy 6'2 and a half and so with the suit/boots we're looking at 6'3 and a half to 6'4. Has blue eyes, and is an unknown.

This alone should warrant a screen test. The only negatives I see thus far is the eyebrows. I could care less that he's from Canada. He's been living in NY for a while now.

Plus, I will always side with what my sig says and the man who said it :D

Wow a lot of you guys are really judgemental, sorry to pick on you superdaniel, but come on. It would be funny if most users pictures were posted that way they would think twice before ripping on someone. You don't like the guy, no problem, just say it in a different way, its no wonder why no one takes fanboys seriously.

Ryan McPartlin won't be in the running.

He already tried out for Superman Returns and lost out to Brandon.

Basically none of the rejects from the old casting days will be in the mix this time around.

Judging McPartlin as a Superman candidate, I can't see him pulling it off. He's not the type of actor that can do serious roles. His character on Chuck is essentially a walking parody of himself.

Wasn't Hamm mentioned like years ago -- pre-SR?

IMO he is a bit old. Unless they have all stunts and action sequences for Supes in 100% CGI, I can't imagine Hamm landing the role let alone test for it but that's just my opinion.

you know of this how??? that's the first time i've heard mention that they're staying away from previous candidates. if this is true and they're looking for people who have no affiliation with the previous Superman movies then i don't see why they wouldn't be pushing Routh aside as well...

Routh wasn't one of the rejects. He actually won the role and was tight with the higher Warners brass for years. Different situation.

And Jamie/Show posted some time back that the previous Superman rejects (Bomer, Fraser, Cavill, Padelecki, etc) would not be in the running this time.

It's early in the game but so far that's checking out.

It also explains why none of the runners-up were looked at for "Justice League:Mortal" as Superman too.
