I hope they don't break the tradition of an unknown for Supes.

I think the only chance they have to outdo Chris Reeve's iconic image is another unknown with the look and talent enough to pull off Clark/Supes.

There's thousands of unknowns across the US who probably have potential.

WB just has to make the effort to do a nation-wide search again.

They did it for Reeve in the 70s and for Routh in 2003/04.

Yeah, and look how that turned out. They won't be doing that again.

Josh is 37 now, maybe too old as well.

That Joe M guy isn't going to get it. He has beak nose, and he doesn't have the acting range the Nolans will want in their Supes actor.

If they are considering Hamm, then it would be fair to assume WB's and the Nolans' want an older Superman this time around.

It would be so great if the Nolans can pull a coup and snag Hugh Jackman away from the troubled Wolverine 2 development to be their Superman!

They can also still look at Jim Caviezel also potentially, if they want to go with an older late 30's early 40's Supes.

WB/DC isn't necessarily planning the standard trilogy, they don't have that mindset. They want to make a solid Superman flick. Of course the actor will have the standard one picture deal plus two options, but this time around this movie is the most important. Novel idea, I know.
thank you.

That is the thing, if you go for an older Superman and want a solid actor, Caviezel is a better choice

I would take Hugh Jackman and Jim Caviezel in a heartbeat over Jon Hamm. They are taller, and would be far more intimidating as Supes and they would be able to do well as Clark.

I like Hamm, but his facial and body structure just seems off for some reason. He would seem like to much of a throwback style Superman, like from the 40's or 50's or something.

I like Caviezel, but I just don't think he has it in him to be Superman. Jor-El maybe.

I love the fact that they're finally going for an older and more mature Superman, but the other suggested actors just don't have the presence of Hamm.

Here is what I want to know. During the Smallville panel yesterday, the question was asked if he had been approached or auditioned for the part of Superman. He was very vague with his answer saying yes to one and no to the other. To me if it were for Superman Returns, then it seems liks he would have just come right out and said yes, I auditioned or was approached for SR instead of dancing around the question. So that tells me that he has done something for the new movie.

Not really, TW took a bunch of heat about comments of not wanting to play Superman some years back. He was being careful not to get in that trouble again.

He probably meant he was approached years ago before SR. Not recently.

Now way in heck the Nolans want Welling as Supes.

I doubt Joe M or Hamm will get it, it's early but not so early, if that makes sense.

However, Jackman won't be playing Superman, even if I think Wolverine 2 might not even happen at all.

In regards to Caviezel, he would be good, but unfortunately I think his time has come and gone.

Don't you think that he would have been directed to answer the question a little differently, if that were the case? Because he knew that question would come up. It always does. I personally think there is a little more to it. Now don't go reading into this thinking that I am pro-Welling or anything like that, I was just presenting a question.

He has to be very careful about what he says about it:

If he doesn't want the role, it would be a backlash to his fans, since they want him to be Superman, and he still has a season of SV to go

If he wants the role, then it would be a slap to his face if he isn't even asked, since he has been building to that point for 9 years

You won't get a straight answer from Welling at this point

He was referring to Brett Ratner's incarnation.

I understand now, Comic and Show. That makes sense. His comments just made me curious is all.

Show, why do you doubt Hamm will get it? Just curious.

If Jon Hamm turns out to be Superman, I'll be severely disappointed. On the other hand, if he was Lex, I'd be ecstatic.

Thats exactly how they should look at it.

And Jon Hamm is the only choice in this thread that I could see playing Superman.

Same here

WB looking at this as just one movie deal... sorry, I don't buy it

They may focus on this picture, but they want a franchise
