Personally, hes too old.. and he looks his age.

So for me, unless they are looking for a firmly established 40 year old Superman ie 10-15 years after hes originally first appeared (if they are following the standard sort of cannon age he makes his first appearance..) then I wouldn't be a fan of him taking the role.

I hope they don't go down that road or even glance at it, I hope they drive past it. Fair enough if the articles are correct & they aren't planning an origin story and simply "a Superman movie" whats wrong with having a Superman that is late 20's early 30's?

I don't know, I'm ok with not getting an Origin movie, but I would like to see a early years Superman, not a story about an old Superman (save that for a Kindom Come movie :p), And Hamm looks older than what he is

No way, I thought I was the only one :awesome:. I can't understand it, there is just something about Hamm's face that just annoys me, it's inexplicable. I've seen a few episodes of Mad Men, and no doubt, he's a good actor, and I am glad that he's apparently being considered, because that gives me a good feeling about the type of actors WB is looking at. But man, his face just annoys me :woot:. I wouldn't be opposed to casting him though. I wonder who the other actors WB is reportedly considering.
Well, I don't want to punch him, but yeah there something about him that really bothers me, that why I think he could make a menacing sneaky Luthor

I don't want to see another "model looking" "metrosexual" (I don't meat it as an offence, I simply didn't find the right words) superman, I wan't a Superman that really looks like someone that can be in command, someone you wouldn't mess with

I think Joe can pull that off, and he also has a great smile and presence so it won't be all badass superman, but will bring a side we haven't seen on live action

John Hamm's too old for me, I want someone who can play Superman for several movies

100% agree -- I'm a supporter of the older Superman flick, so the speculation on Hamm is, IMHO, a step in the right direction for Nolan's Superman.

As Compi716 said, Hamm is a man's man -- there's absolutely nothing metrosexual or Abercrombie about him. I'm not trying to offend anyone either, but as the leader of the Justice League, I'd prefer someone who does in fact command that presence and Hamm (or even Fox) could pull that off. I don't get that same vibe from others. Also, he's a fantastic actor.

As for those of you who want to punch him -- I don't get that feeling at all. Then again, Batman seems to want to punch Superman every now and them because he's so set in his justice and order creed ;-) I kid, I kid.

Whoever they cast, old or young, for me the bottomline is getting a great movie. I really don't care about all this sequel talk and I don't even care about Justice League. As much as I'd like to see both, fact is we haven't had a great Superman movie since arguably STM or SII. Batman has had several great films. I for one just want at least ONE great Superman film. All this sequel talk is jumping the gun. Give us a great, self-contained Superman story that reminds people why he's the King of superheroes. Give us something that rivals Donner's STM.

The talent is there. The technology is most certainly there. And the story-tellers are there. Get it done right -- once, and then we'll take about more.

And of course, if that film features Jon Hamm (or an older, Alex Ross Superman), well for me, that's just icing on the cake.

It should come as no surprise that I am in complete agreement with you, as well. That's why I am also a firm believer that the physically imposing stature needs to be there. There are only a handful of names being thrown around here that fit the bill.

Damn it comicfan you are turning me around on Joe again  Your evil magic power witchcraft ways!

:p

Good video  His nose isn't as bad when he has a beard. Superman with a beard? Hmm a different way to go :D

I don't hink is the beard but the motion, it really noticeable in still (but that is why they invented Photoshop), but when he is in motion its hardly noticeable

I still notice it in motion (but you are right not as bad)

Nose job on just the bridge of his nose would make him look sooooo much better for Superman.

Even though it's not going to happen, at least for a while, but how would everyone feel if Hamm were to play the Earth-Two Superman, who is older than the other versions?

I would not be against him being cast whatsoever. When he said that he is 6'5", that had me sold. He has the looks and is a good actor, and Good LORD he is tall and would be absolutely perfect for Superman. His acting skills have been getting better, IMO. His nose does not look bad at all when in motion. Besides, like I have said before, that is something that could be fixed in post-production if it was truly a concern.

Hamm would be a badass Superman. Could pull off 30 year old no prob, imo.

JOE MANGANIELLO FOR SUPERMAN! He certainly looks like Superman. I did a little research and found out he's 6'5, 225 lbs. He's only 33 and looks a little younger, so I think it would work. I don't know about his acting skills as I've only seen him in the first Spider-Man movie.

P.S After watching Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins and seeing the manip below, I think Robbie Amell would make a good Superboy (Kon-El).

He kind of towers over everyone in all his pics

One of "several names" being talked about?

Well where the hell are the other "names" allegedly and why is Hamms name being the only one released or leaked? Hmmm.....

Plus, it mentions this should give us an idea of what direction the casting is heading.....so this means they are looking to cast an older more manly and established actor as Superman?

If so....WB's and the Nolans might as well take a hard look at Hugh Jackman or James Caviezel as Superman instead of Hamm.

Jackman and Caviezel are in the proper 6'2-6'3 height range and have the solid Superman facial structure look...while Hamm is barely 6'0 and his facial and body structure look just seems a bit off for Supes IMO.

You guys base your selections far too much off of looks. The vast majority names thrown around here would make terrible choices on film, even if in a still they look good.

There is so much more to the role. One of the biggest things WB will prb try to avoid is casting someone who is real physically intimidating. Superman is boring enough as is to most; casting someone who looks like more of an average person would be a wise move.

You can tell a good superman actor by hearing them talk, seeing them move. Not by measuring their height. Being 6'0 is a bonus for ham imo. One of the reasons Keaton worked so well as Batman was he was absurdly intimidating. Superman gets his powers from the sun anyway, so theres no point in casting a steroid freak; its not like Superman goes to teh gym.

Hamm completely embodies what Clark Kent and Superman need to be, anyone with an actual eye for actors would know it in a heartbeat. Not a soul here would be even remotely disappointed in him if he gets the role.

WB: MAKE THIS HAPPEN! Hamm is Bale/Downey perfect for the role.

Id also bet this is more serious than being reported, hence why he was the only name mentioned. Hamm is also starring in WBs upcoming film the town, and we know how WB likes to work with people they know on large scale projects.
