Why Hamm and Padalecki? Age-wise it wouldn't make sense.

I guess he didn't want to give up the name by itself, so he threw Padalecki out there with Hamm. He wasn't saying both of these guys were candidates. He just gave two names and said one of them is a candidate. Definitely an odd thing to do.

yeh I can see that - he has a good look:

Too many of these actors with a good look for the part need to shave. Makes manip creation harder :( lol

That pic of Caviezel just shows how kick ass he would be as Superman! Too bad it probably won't happen.

Someone should use that pic to turn into a manip of him as Supes.

Well, it definitely adds to the mystery, so maybe a smart thing. Now we could be looking at either a younger or an older Superman.

Showtime is 100% sure Padalecki is not going to be looked at.

Here's another short-arse candidate, Matthew Settle who even does a Welling-impersonation.

Definitely like Welling's twin... might have a gander at what he looks like in other pics, cause he doesn't immeditely put me off.

why is this significant? does showtime have inside information?

Well, if he does, he's not gonna talk about it in here until it's official.

Plus, I didn't really think anybody would actually cast Padalecki, but others might.

"Okay, I officially like him. Anyone know much about his acting?"

No, but he was in Band Of Brothers and that came off as pretty decent overall.

Buteven though he looks right in some pics Settle's too short and he's pushing 40. I just thought it was uncanny how he resembled an older Welling.

That looks AMAZING!

Though I'm glad it failed. It would've backfired and we would not have been discussing now.

I know. What were they thinking. It even looks quite new.

This would not exactly have improved the view most people have on comicbooks.

Bailey is quite short.

He was dwarfed by Brat Pitt in Fight Club, and Pitt isn't even Superman height.

True he's 5'10 but people are still talking about Bomer, and he has other issues besides height.

I've been thinking about someone that hasn't been mentioned for Superman, but what about Patrick Wilson?

here's a very clark kentish picture of jon hamm from mad men.

Yeah, I don't know what it is, but Hamm just screams Superman to me.

Have you seen him on the cover of GQ -- he looks like Alex Ross' Superman come to life

You don't even need to put the curl on that. The guy can act and he'd certainly bring the more established Man of Steel look to the film.

If Nolan wants to go older, then Hamm makes a lot of sense. It's interesting some people here keep thinking about sequels, etc., but if the rumors are true, it seems clear that Nolan isn't looking at this like a franchise. He's out to tell one strong Superman story, and that's the goal; it's a stand-alone film that isn't tied to anything. There might be a hint towards a sequel (like in Begins) but it wouldn't be anything set in stone. That's what I think we're going to get here.

Also, age-wise, Hamm (or anyone in their late 30s, early 40s) works because he's around the same age as Bale and I don't doubt the two would look quite good standing next to each other in a JL film. We certainly needn't worry that our Superman can act ... and he'd really look like a Superman vs. the overly young actors we've seen.

I'm starting to really like the thought of an older Superman.

Why are people taking Hamm seriously?. The guy is 6' pretty much on the dot. Far to short for Superman. Any other candidate at that height would be laughed at & pushed aside. What makes Hamm so cool that you'd be willing to have a short Superman?.
