The more pics I'm seeing of Hamm the LESS I want him as Superman.
Joe Manganiello could work, his acting has gotten a lot better on True Blood.
As of know,my favorite unknown is Harmon Walsh. He looks the part(Superman and Farm boy Clark Kent) and he has a good build!

It's a good job we aren't the real casting team, there is far to much nit picking over a few inches in height or whether they're built like a brick s*** house already. . .

If you're prioritising height and CURRENT build over quality of acting, charisma, tone of voice, acting experience, then you are just looking for another 2 dimensional representation of the character. . . something we just don't need!!!

Not saying Hamm is perfect, but a step in the right direction for sure. . .
joe manganiello for example, imo NEVER gonna happen. . .
There's a reason Hamm is an Emmy nominated, golden globe winning male lead on a hit show, and Joe is just another 'six pack' . . .

WB and Nolan's team will be prioritising acting/charisma, personifying the heart and soul of the character over how much the actor can bench press this time around hopefully.

Manganiello has a great, GREAT build for the role, but he just hasn't impressed me since he appeared on TB. I don't know, he just kinda...sorta....bores me. Maybe it's the character, maybe it's the writing, maybe it's him, I will wait until I see more episodes with him before I completely write him off.

Some of you are way too much putting bodybuilding and height before looks and talent.

Of course they're not looking for 5'9" guys, butsomeone like Hamm at 6' could easily be made to look imposing. Buffing up is the least of their problems and as long as lifts only have to raise you an inch or two this method is fine.

They will never hire someone like this Joe-fella just because he has a comicbook body. I even think his body is almost too buffed for the part to a degreee where it would just look grotesque in lycra. The body Superman has on the pages would just look perverse on screen.

I really just think they'll be looking for looks, class and talent before anything else.

Exactly.

At the end of the day there are alot of people who didnt even like Rouths look for Superman and he had the height etc but just didnt ooze charisma and inner strength like Christopher Reeve did.

I would rather they found someone who had ALL the qualities of a GREAT Superman but if they manage to find a guy who has all that - but is 6' then Id rather that than some lumbering dude who cant act his way out of a wet paper bag.

Geoff Johns mentioned during his panel today that he's having trouble keeping secret some big news that he'll be revealing this weekend.

I know it's unlikely, but I'm crossing my fingers that he'll be revealing who will be the new Superman during the WB panel!

Right now I am torn between Joe Manganiello and Jon Hamm. I think they both bring a lot to the table in their own ways. It is going to be interesting to say the least as to how quickly WB get the ball rolling.

Meh I doubt it will be that BIG. Maybe just whose providing the voice of Kilowag or Tomar Re

biggest I think it'll be is maybe the director for Superman

Yet, I would say Tom Cruise had imposing presence in Collateral or Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro in Goodfellas.

An imposing physical presence? Imposing physical stature?

Not once have I said that I want a crappy actor who has the build that Superman needs to carry off the right presence on screen. There are plenty of solid actors that have the build and can act. I would think there are plenty of unknowns who have the acting chops and look to carry it off. Why compromise one for the other? I want both and why shouldn't any fan expect to have it all? Routh was compromising for me as I find him a very "blah" actor.

To be honest I think It would be a couple of months before we hear something from DC about the New actor playing Superman

DC and WB might have their eyes on some candidates, but since there isn't a finished script yet or a director on board, I don't see how they could already announce an actor

Well said.

Hamm would make a perfect Superman to me, with the look and acting skill to do it... the fact that he's a little shorter makes no difference to me. I'd much rather have that than another Routh.

Rust, you have taken the words out of my mouth, sir. You are about one of the only people who speak the right words in this thread. This thread is just full of casting choices that will never happen and typical types who put looks above acting talent. People can lift and work out. They don't need to be built well before they are cast.

Superman is the hardest hero to cast. I know I wouldn't want to be put in that position casting him.

I like Hamm, but I feel he's too old for it.

What about Nick Zano?

Superman, Wonder Woman or Flash films I would think......

I'm debating whether to post the pic of me and Johns shaking hands at a comic shop as my avy on here? Hmmm....

I don't get what's wrong with Hamm's body. Surely he could bulk up.

Exactly. Logic here is that the so called actor must be buit already. While a real actor with talent couldn't possibly gain weight and get in shape. It's impossible.
