I don't know who should play Superman but whoever it is should be manly looking. Even Routh looked more boy than man.

Yep, back when they filmed the movie and the piss poor hair/costume choices.

Now he looks like the best candidate, but probably can't be cast because of the baggage.

I'm not a Routh fanboy either. Just saying it is shocking how good he looks for the part now, and how crappy they used him in SR

I agree. Of everyone that has been mention to play Superman no one is better than Routh. Yes, he could have been made to look more the part in SR but as he gets older he will more and more have the iconic look of Superman.

The thing is , you're never going to find another Chris Reeve and it's never going to be 1978 again. The next guy who plays Superman is gonna have to bring his own personality to the role and not attempt to be a Reeve clone.

Yet we never mentioned Reeve. Why was Reeve such a perfect physical match for Superman? Because he was manly looking and he had the height and the build. In other words, WB picked an actor who looked like the character in the comics.

We are asking WB to do it again.

I agree he looked too young in the 04/05 Superman Returns filming days. He was somewhat Superboy-ish and only in his mid 20s.

Nowadays he looks and sounds like a Year One Superman right out of the comics.

By the time he's 40 or so, he'll probably resemble the Alex Ross Superman.

Amazingly Reeve was about 25 when he was cast.

I think Justin Bruening could be a solid choice. Not a great actor but shows potential in my book. He was just a victim of a crappy show :o

Hopefully he isn't a crappy actor

I'm still amazed by how much some of you guys support Routh. He had all the screen presence of a cardboard cutout in Superman Returns. Yes, the script sucked, but he was practically a zombie in that movie.

I'll agree that of all the actors out there, he most resembles the character physically. And with Superman, looks are important. But Superman also needs to have a presence that can inspire a nation and scare the piss out of a massive army. I haven't seen that in Routh in anything he's been in.

I'm not a supporter exactly, and thought SR was a waste to be honest. However when somebody looks the part that well and has a good voice, it is hard not to see the potential.

You guys should probably move the Routh for Superman discourse to the Brandon Routh thread...

Before the cleaning lady dusts off this discussion

I like how Man of Tomorrow always gets involved with Routh discussion in other threads, then makes sure to post "Guys you shouldn't talk about Routh here!"

LMAO nicely played sir

Man of Tomorrow is the enforcer. Showtime makes the rules and he makes sure we follow them.

I don't think you got what I was laughing at, Man of Tomorrow gets into the Routh discussions. Then after a while of giving his opinion he says something like "No Routh talk"

It is damned funny and you know it :D

I don't think he will look like the Ross version at any point (his face wouldn't get that large unless he got fat imo). Btw stop the Routh talk ;)

I know exactly what you were laughing at. :woot:

My point was that he tells us what to do around here all the time. Not that it's a bad thing. :yay:

Anybody want to start a "Get Routh an audition/Bring Routh back" campaign?
:hehe:

Oooooh I see. Heh heh true

Like a parent "Do as I say not as I do" :word:
It's all good though :yay:

McPartlin as Supes

i know he's only done goofy characters on tv shows, but he looks about as close to perfect as Superman as you can get, if you ask me.
