Joe Manganiello's chances were gone when he (quite a few times now) declared how much he wanted the role.

I was not aware that this hurt his (or anyone's) chances for a role.

You would figure that if it was known to fans on a forum, that actors would actually indeed know not to do this as a rule they would not break.

Anyway, on another note, I would like to see the criteria list they are looking for this time.

Height? Build? Face? experience? etc... Be nice to at least know the "WHAT" they are looking for if not the particular "who".

Specifically Nolan wants to start a casting search from scratch. There may be old candidates that get looked at again, but it will have nothing to do with a list of past actors who auditioned for the role. While Singer looked at past hopefuls, this is not the type of casting process that Nolan will be involved with.

Henry Cavill who was McG's casting choice (on one of the various failed Superman project attempts) is currently not being looked upon. Matthew Bomer is also not under any consideration at this time. Contray to some web speculation and rumor, there really is no buzz for Matthew Fox star of Lost at this moment. It is still early in the process, but we are going to be hearing some new names soon. Looks like someone saw the responses about the date and went back and changed it....which means that it isn't a real article.

When I see it in Variety or something I will believe it.

The more I see of Routh in his work on Chuck and the Scott Pilgrim stuff, the more I think he could definitely get a shot. Honestly, he doesn't even really look like he did in SR anymore. His face has filled out and he's bulked up.

Of all the names put forth here and elsewhere on the Interwebs, I still think Routh is the best choice, outside of an unknown or someone unknown to me.
