I am not sure who is going to be cast, but they will need to be in excellent shape. The lastest Hemsworth photo, especially the one from comic con has set a new standard for superheroes. The dude is monstrous, and looks like a super hero. A small superman may not go over well.

Exactly! Superman should be able to go toe to toe with Thor as far as physical stature and not look too much the wimp, though he is slightly shorter than Thor. He still should have a similar type of frame that Hemsworth has.

Routh would never work for the new movie as they aren't going to want to keep the same supporting cast and his son. Movie viewers would want to know what happened to his son and see continuity from that film if Routh were to be recast. Too confusing. Add in the fact the guy is just a blah actor. He appeared even less lifeless with his role on Chuck than he did in SR.

LOVE hearing this news IF true below regarding the Nolans' casting process for Superman. Going with established and experienced actors is the way to go!

Only thing I don't like hearing is that Cavill will NOT be considered for the role, but I LOVE hearing Jim Caviezel will be considered for the role of Supes!

Glad Routh will be given a fair shot with a screentest as well.

If I were Routh and they offered me a screen test, I would tell them to watch the movie I starred in that made $400 million. Then I would proceed to tell them to place their penis's in their own asses.

I always liked Caviezel for Supes if they go with a known actor, but Hamm is creeping up the list, he would definitely bring a "cool" factor to Superman, where as Caviezel would be much like Reeve. At least they are going for good actors, I rather have a good actor that can beef up then some meat head that just looks the part... if I had to choose.

Caviezel is far to goofy looking to be Superman. he also lacks a strong jaw & square chin. It might sound picky & trivial but, it's as important as the story IMO & it needs to be accurately portrayed.

Exactly. I mean you got some people who say Manganiello is to arab looking or to ethnic, but yet they want Caviezel, who also looks ethnic. It's a double standard that's gone over my head, in terms of understanding. I feel the same for Trucco. The guy's face is narrow & so is his chin. There is nothing cut or square or strong about his face. He has a stright nose, but that's about as Superman as that guy can get. I don't get it.

Yeah, Trucco is one of those guys where, I can kind-of see it, but not all that well. I couldn't see it at all in photos... once I saw him act a bit, then I understood, but I still think there are much better choices out there, but looks-wise and acting-wise. Not that he's a bad actor... he's just not particularly memorable, IMO.

I'd love it if it were true and Routh gets a fair chance. In my opinion he should be Superman.

IMHO Brandon Routh should play Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent in the reboot.

and looking at him there next to that pic he looks just like Superman from the MOS series
