Strange visitor from another planet!

Very nice.

I'm just running some tests (for a wallpaper maybe)) :

Keep it going. I'm liking the test run.

Anyone willing to try their hand a fan poster in the style of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Hook, etc. with the new photo below (sorry I reverse my threads, makes it easier to get to the last posting)?

I will probably try later, but I think with this new photo, the photo we have of Jor-El, Zod, military, other characters and shots I would like to see a poster done as an homage to Drew Struzan

His work for those unfamiliar: Drew Struzan Google

Man I miss those. Maybe I'll do one. lol

:woot::woot::woot:

Loved those posters growing up as a kid!

Man, me too! The art would mesmerize me. I used to walk the whole theater looking for new ones so I could know what new movie was coming out. That was the only way to know back then.

Wow... things have certainly changed.

Yes, they definitely have:csad:

There is something to be said when you are as excited about the poster art as you are the film itself. Artwork like that just jumped out at you and spoke to you. Nowadays the graphic design artwork, while cool at times, just lacks the depth and spirit of works from artists like Drew Struzan.

Guess it's the difference between an ereader and traditional books. Although an ereader is innovative, cool, easy to carry and quick there is something to be said about thumbing through a book feeling the pages and smelling the time and history that has been collected.

Truer words are rarely spoken. I was just debating the pro and cons about web comics vs the physical in-hand comic/graphic novel and library books vs nooks. It just made me sad when it was over.

While I can appreciate the art now it just does not carry the weight of of excitement and level of anticipation. Talk about needing patience. With no sneak peaks or behind the scenes until well after the movie if there were any at all.

Hear, Hear!

Speaking of Struzan... imagine if he himself did the theatrical poster for the movie.

I sure hope they can lock him down for the new SW trilogy.

I was just thinking the same thing. It would be epic if he did the theatrical poster for MOS and brought back that style that carried over to other DC and action films as well. I would like to see that trend come back.

I hope JJ will be smart enough and mention to the marketing team to hire Struzan to do the artwork. Seeing as how JJ is an admitted fan I'm sure that would be something that he would like to see as well.

Was there a Struzan-esque poster done for the Avengers? I want to say that I remember such, but can't for sure.

Yeah, as well as Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Captain America.

Oh...well then I would like to see it remain lol.:woot: Were they done by Struzan? Cause it didn't seem so, but I could be wrong.

I think they were just photoshopped. But I agree, it's a great style and that's why a I remembered those Marvel posters so easily. I'm glad it's back but I would prefer the DC differentiate itself from Marvel (not to make it a DC/Marvel thing)

Well then if they were just photoshopped then I would want Struzan to do DC's posters. It wouldn't be a DC/Marvel thing as Star Wars and Indiana Jones did that style long before.

However movie posters have always undergone changes to reflect the artistic periods. I think it would be cool if DC did some art deco 20s-40s and 50s-60s styled poster movie posters for the film. Something similar to Justice League A New Frontier.

You know I'm kinda shocked that we haven't got more manips than we have...folks must be busy

Well, cut'n paste in Photoshop isnt that big of a deal either.

I don't have Photoshop, and if I did...I am nowhere near smart enough to know how to use it. That's why I wait on others to do their great works of art....like iFried. A true master

iFried's work is manipping. The above is not really.

I love fanboiii's manip above, but the stance/pose used by Cavill in the original is so .............. manly ................... that I felt compelled to add more sideburn and a moustache. Sorry.
