This last issue was actually good, It was nice to see a tie in to the New Krypton, arc and see Superman fight someone. It was also nice to see the people's reaction after the fight. The only thing I didn't get was why he wrote Dick as Bruce.

Who did he fight? Anyone of note, or just kind of a general enemy that popped up?

In what sense do you mean he wrote Dick as Bruce? Do you mean Batman was Bruce or Dick's dialogue sounded too much like what you'd expect from Bruce? If it's the former, I'll just chalk it up to JMS tending to write his own introverted story and not worrying about whether or not it coincides with everything else.

it was just the towns angry drunk who temporarily got super powers from a piece of new krypton that came to earth as a meteorite.

either way, didnt care much for this issue either. its just not interesting or fun or engaging.

It was HULK HOGAN HE FOUGHT AND IT WAS GLORIUS. :word: JMS decided to create a new kryptonite that effects humans, not kryptonians. Some woman made Hulk Hogan-look alike go hulk-smash on Superman for reasons yet unknown.

Dick just sounded way too rude towards Superman and lacked believe. You'd think Dick Grayson would support Superman his own Uncle (it's true!) even how drastic the decision seems. It just seemed JMS wanted Bruce Wayne to be there, so he made Superman say "youve gotten darker since you departed with Bruce" and stuff.

Still the Grounded story arc seems to be heading in a good direction. People are pessimistic and whiny towards Superman because he's attracting villains/chaos to the states he goes, and Batman is worried what is happening and is probably the one who asks Diana to go down and talk to him.

It just sucks that Grounded is getting tie-in issues because of JMS' sickness, they should have just done 1-shot random stories like they do with Streets of Gotham. :p

My only problem with Grounded is does JMS know that all black people are not bad people or just sports players? I mean once again in this issue Superman is lecturing another black man for doing something wrong. I mean seriously there are plenty of us who are not the stereotype black male. I mean come on now why cant he make the person white or Asian or Hispanic why do they always have to be black.

Not really all that new, they've had kryptonite that's affected humans in the past.

Oh, I see. Well, that sounds pretty dumb

Ugh, I'm not caring much for this writing the DCU as if it's the MU at all.

I understand people are skeptic about the 12-issue arc lenght, but all these issues got the all good Superman stuff from aliens to super-friends to Super-dickery. The only difference is that some state is being a guest star.

I don't really consider Super-dickery as 'the good stuff' for Superman. That's fun for internet jokes and such, but honestly, I'd prefer not to read about Supes being an dick and condescending to people in the actual comics.

And I don't even know what you mean by Super-friends. Like Batman and the other superheroes?

Yeah thats what i meant with super-friends. You get to see Batman, Diana and probably more super-heroes talking to him and stuff.

to be fair, superman has lectured EVERYONE for doing things wrong during this arc.....including extra terrestrial aliens, so....

Understood but it hows he shows us that makes me mad. For example

  • Drug Dealers - Black
  • Lazy Man- Black
  • Sports Players - Black
  • Man foundling a waitress- Black
I mean come on now there are other races out there that do this stuff it is not only black people. Hell even how we are stereotype by the media is really the minority of our race. The majority of our race is not like how we are shown in the media and music videos. :cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad:

You mean all black men aren't constantly surrounded by money, cars, and hot dancing women? I've never been less envious of you guys... :csad:

;)

This was the last time I read something from JMS, the man who became famous through a mediocre TV sci-fi series.

Okay so this week's issue had Superman tell Batman -- Batman -- that he doesn't deal enough with street-level crime. He specifically cites thugs with guns and the mafia as examples.

This is ****ing worse than a woman telling Superman to cure cancer.

I'm literally still laughing at this. :funny:

GTFO, are you serious? Oh man...

He specifically says to Dick that if only someone had been there for him and for Bruce, the armed thugs and the mafias wouldn't have gotten their parents. Yuh huh, good point Superman. If only someone were out there with the common people every single night helping to prevent the thugs and the gangs from making more orphans like Batman and Robin. What a world that would be, right?

You just know Dick's inherited the role of Batman when writers shoehorn him into a "lets make batman look ******ed to show how cool my character is."

now i understand why people get pissed off at this arc

From this and his WW JMS comes off as barely even professional TBH. Trite preachy writing like that in any college level creative writing class would get you a markup, not that I know that from experience or anything.

and lets not pretend dick grayson, or even bruce, would ever say they're not fighting for the average joe.

I was excited for this arc... But then I had to re-evaluate my expenses and cut comics out, I have never been happier for not making enough money to waste them on comics.
