My view of Bane, I might have gotten the mask wrong but ah well I am sleepy, yawn.
Only references, Bane picture and Tom Hardy's eyes.
2B pencil,many redo's, and Photoshop for color. 6 hours.

He looks like an aborted alien or something, but I like the style. Very japanese woodcut sort of vibe in it.

Hahhahaha Oh come on it's not that deformed. Respects to the elefant man btw.

Ooo brutal, but yeah I like his style, oh wait thats mine :O
Thank you for oh so constructive critiquing, well hopefully more people start to post
more traditional artwork instead of manipulations. I like manipulations and all, but I miss the old dark knight days when people were posting up drawings and paintings.
Alright keep it up and thanks, more will be coming up!

I really appreciate the uniqueness of this piece; it reminds me of a cross between a stylized Vincent van Goph and something you would see on a tapestry, Church glass, anything between the Medeival and Renaissance. It has a Da Vinci like quality too, if you think about it; its amazingly original because it follows the traditional route of art. And for those reasons being applied to a modern work such as Bane is a real sight to see, so I value this very much and say to you Great job. :word:

Thank you very much Dr.Who and DCW, Dr.Who you wrote very decent comment. It sounds like you took some art history classes eh? I really didn't think about Van Gough, but I definitely like coloring my pieces, it is very fun. Hopefully some of the old artists from the dark knight days will start posting soon!

I think the problem with it is that he has no neck to speak of.

Alright tweak it just a little bit
LAstBaneFine2.jpg
It's a good drawing, but did you purposely make his body alien-like? It doesn't have the proportions of a normal human body, looks more like Golum from LOTR.

No not really, it is pretty hard to show any neck when he is hunching over with a mask on. I check the proportions, it is accurate, the only problem is the left arm. Since it is going back which foreshortens it, it makes the arm look like it is smaller than the other one. I am thankful for your observations, without it I would not be able to get better at this.

LOL Nah, just know the artists; however throughout my elementary years I learned a little of this and that in art class, which covered pretty much everything to important artists in history, styles, etc. The proportions of the body is what made me think Van Goph, as well as the articulate coloring and shading; colors, shading, and lighting are probably the key things that really stand out in your picture.

It's hard for me to honestly critique your work having that I've kind of established your style by looking at this piece; if you have any other artwork, please post away. I'd love to see what else you have. Um..... if you're looking for a critique however, I'd say take a little more creative license. I don't think you would feel so restricted to base it off what you've seen so far of Bane; I think if you made another piece similar to this with perhaps a different stance/position and shows his neck, arms, and torso a bit more it would look more promising (I'd look up pictures of Tom Hardy himself in other movies that might show some Bane quality). And that's what I've honestly seen from your work so far, it's promising and could be some of the strongest stuff we can see on the Hype.

So think about what I've said, maybe make another Bane or even Catwoman piece if you're good with female anatomy, take more initiative to have more freedom with your work, do a little research that could help inspire what you want in your art, and I think you'll be set to go man.

Heres that thread, I post some of my art on there, but thanks alot for your words. Do you do any art? Yeah this one I didn't really use much references, but it makes me excited to the idea of using more references. I already have some ideas for a menacing pose for Bane, I just have to work on it. I did try to make my look for bane in a portrait, but I didn't finish it. Its in the link. I want to do a catwom pose, but I am not too fond of putting her in skin tight leather with her cleavage busting out. I am more of a fan of joshwmc painting of Catwoman, where she looks like a thieve with all the gadgets.

I'm not going to lie... it reminded me of this:

Actually, Tom Hardy has a big head so this could be very acurrate, I liked the pencil, I use to work with pastel but I suck at it , I would like to try something with this kind of pencil.

His right side makes the picture look weird. Other than that, it's pretty good.
