Sequels The Official The Lizard in Spider-Man 4 thread!

I find it interesting how invested people are in the exact shade of the Lizard's skin... was anyone terribly upset when they found out Doctor Octopus wasn't going to look like this?

that would have looked a little strange and goofy on Film. It works great in the Comics but on Film, I doubt it would. The Lizard wouldn't look goofy on Film. His cloths are fine and the green scaly skin would look great on Film.

It's not as if the Lizard's appearance has been consistent over the years in the comics anyhow.

It was sort of a rhetorical question... I knew no one was upset by it. Everyone loved that look. I was trying to make a point, that point being that a character doesn't have to look exactly like they do in the comics in order to work, and a great deal of the time, the look needs to be changed.

Now, Lizard's look wouldn't have to be altered as much as Ock's, but I'm just trying to say that people shouldn't be so dead set on one specific visual interpretation being used.

I love the bulls***t fanboy ultimatums... "If the Lizard isn't bright green, I won't even go see the movie!"

...sure you won't.

True. I mean, I'm expecting atleast one or two or maybe even three modifications to the Lizard but not many. And I don't mind little modifications at all.

Not to me. I sure as hell don't want to see the classic look of The Lizard on screen. He looked like a Sleestack from The Land Of The Lost. There were much better artists, who has giving us a better character design of The Lizard over the years.

I think they can take aspects from the Classic Lizard look and mix it with maybe Todd Macfarlanes Lizard. And like I said a few posts ago...I would like the Lizard to look like the statue I posted. He's got sharp teeth and a toungue. I will be fine with which ever one they pick though.

I really hope we get Lizard this time around. We've been waiting for 3 movies, plus almost everyone wants him in it.

Lizard is my favorite Spider-Man villain after the Green Goblin. Lizard and Kraven the Hunter should be the villains of Spider-Man 4. I remeber seeing awhile ago concept photos of what the Lizard was going to look like in Spider-Man 2. But they weren't used because Doc Ock was decided to be the villain instead of Lizard.

Sorry for spelling and grammer.

No, the Lizard was going to be in it with Doc Ock. Ock was always going to be in Spider-Man 2. They originally had him planned to be in Spider-Man 1.

Lizard got the axe in SM-2, but they left Curt Conners in it.

I'm actually glad they did that for a few reasons and one of them is, it gave time for Dr. Connors to be established. I mean He's been established in Spidey2 and Spidey3, and now in Spidey4...He's ready to be a Villian. It's defenitley going to be awesome!

Agreed. Also, I think that a third "sympathetic scientist" villain would have seemed repetitive after Spider-Man 1 & 2. I think it was good to have that formula break in there.

yeah, and speaking of sympathetic, I think Dr. Connors will defenitley be sympathetic in Spidey4. I mean sure, the Lizard can have battles with Spidey but if Kraven is trying to hunt down the Lizard then maybe the sympathetic side will show of the Lizard. I'm really excited to see it.

The key is not to make THE LIZARD sympathetic. He must be deadly animalistic in every way. If that character starts talking too much (or maybe at all), we're all screwed.

As long as the audience is perfectly clear on the fact that Dr. Connors is no way in control of the Lizard, then that's fine.

Yet another thing, I don't want in any way, Curt Connors being in control of The Lizard at anytime. The Lizard must be his own beast, literally, and killing humans is a must. I want more than a freakin' roar.

I agree but with the transformation...a downward progress needs to be shown. At first, Lizard may protect or not harm Spider-Man or his family, but he does need to go all out and loose all self of being to the Lizard. I don't think he will kill anybody as it would devestate Dr. Connors but wreaking havok yes. I would love to see Mrs. Connors trying to stop the police from firing at her and then Lizard grabbing her and scratching her and about to chomp down on her face when Spider-Man swings in and tells her that it isn't her husband anymore. Maybe Lizard even tries to harm his kid. At first though, he needs to be able to see what he has become but then the reptile takes over.

Yeah, when he's full bleed Lizard, I don't want to see anything kind or gentle coming from this character.

Thus, is the very reason why I hate when PG-13 comic book movies caters to children a bit too much. You would never see The Predator or the Alien creatures in Aliens pausing to kill. They have that animal instict. The devestation that Connors feels is part of the intensity and drama that unfortunately we'll never see.

Of course, this sounds good. I don't mind a slow process with Connors' tranformation and mindset into The Lizard.

Agreed. Thats a great idea. But when Spidey fights the Lizard, He can't kill Him because Dr. Connors is His teacher and it's the wrong thing to do. Spidey has to find a way to cure the Lizard without doing alot of harm to Him. It would be very interesting.

^^Well I don't think we will ever be getting an R Spidey flick thus I try to think logically. I mean sure Lizard can bite and scratch and stuff but I don't see Sony letting him completly ravage somebody. I mean if Connors found out he killed people, he couldn't live with himself for Connor's character is completely sympathetic. Predator and Aliens are a different bread of sci-fi beast and started and belong in R territory. Lizard will be the first villian we get that is not in it for anything...he is just an animal. I think this change is much needed. He isn't out to get anybody...he just defends himself from what he sees as threats from Spider-Man and Kraven. But I think we can ultimately rule out bloody Lizard tyrades in NYC from a logical standpoint.
