Spider-man does looked a little dated when you watch it now, But I bet Thor will look dated as well a few years from now...

IMHO Peter parker's journey is more satisfying than Thor's journey, that's why I prefer it as a movie but that takes nothing from Thor which I thought was an excellent movie.

I just find Peter Parker incredibly boring to watch in the Raimi Movies.

Spider-man is certainly funnier than Thor...

I don't think so. Nothing in any of the Spider-Man films were that funny to me.

But Thor going ape**** and screaming "You dare attack the son of Odin!" whilst an orderly tries to take a blood sample or him marching into a pet store and demanding a Horse? That's funny, to me.

I also really loved Ray Stevensons Volstagg when he was like "Umm, yes, err your majesty... if you would reconsider?" Really got the bumbling and bubbly attitude of Volstagg down perfectly.

The humour in Thor felt very childish to me... some of them hit, but most were misses, especially the SHIELD stuff...

Spider-man was hilarious, Spider-man 2 even more so

Devin's hardly a DC fanboy.

Wait until his review of Captain America hits. It's already a huge win in his eyes...

That review was written the moment we saw Evans in full gear. He's all over Captain America...as he was when Iron Man came out.
And this review was written up the minute he saw Thor in costume. GL and CA are destined to be praised by him despite any flaws, just as Sucker Punch was. He was going to write a spiteful, hateful review of this no matter what.

Thinking about it, except for JJJ, I can't remember a single moment in Spider-Man where I was laughing out loud. Yet there are several in Thor. Even when he doesn't do dumb ****.

Like the line "Who proved to them all that a maiden could be one of the fiercest warriors?" Sif: "I did." Thor: "True. But I supported you."

In Spider-Man all these funny moments were more facepalm worthy.

Apart from JJJ, what was funny about the Spider-Man movies?

Actually I remember one scene i think it was in SM3 with that Mr Ditkovich guy giving Pete relationship advice. That was funny.

"You are good man, she is good woman..."

"..."

"Hmmm?"

Always cracks me up.

In the Spider-Man Movies, anyone but Spider-Man was funny. And JJJ stole his effin' thunder.

And anyone saying SHIELD sinks this particular movie is just looking for something to hate. Other than the fight scene in the plastic base, their role in this is about what it was in the first Iron Man. I don't recall a single person complaining about them in the first Iron Man.

SHIELD I thought was awesome in this movie. Chewy I felt like they played a little bit bigger of a role in this than the first Iron Man but I thought it was all well done.

I will say what I said in the other thread just because I couldnt wait any longer to FINALLY talk about Thor!

Saw the Premier last night at 730pm at Universal! We just got in by the skin of our teeth. I got there an hour and a half early and they ALREADY filled up the big theatre that seats 300 people. There were about another 200 people waiting outside to the voice of one of the supervisors of the Premier "We have filled up the first auditorium the second is a smaller auditorium exclusivly for VIP and Critics, if there is room we will seat as many as we can fit after they are all in but be warned you will probably not be getting in"

My heart sank and we waited from 630-715 to find out if there was room in the theatre. My girlfriend and I were two of about the last 8 people aloud in the theatre! I was soo excited!

Now onto the movie. It was everything Id hoped it to be in a Thor film. Loki was amazing Tom Hiddleson is an incredible actor and I cant wait to see more of him. The Warriors three stay true to their characters and Chris IS Thor. There is a overhead topdown shot of him screaming when he cant pick up the hammer on earth that is literally cut and paste looks exactly like the comics.

There is action/adventure/drama/a comeback story/and love intrest. It has everything a movie could ask for.

The story is solid and heart wrenching at times and you really feel for the characters portrayed.

This movie stands toe to toe with Iron Man (as many feared it would not) but stands alone when it comes to the lore and character developement.

This movie TRUELY IS its own beast but ties into the rest of the Marvel Universe with subtlety and grace.

I hate criticizing critics, because the only difference between them and me is they are generally paid to give their opinion, but to criticize SHIELD in this movie? I mean, you could replace them with police or the FBI or whatever, because the actual cordoning off of this thing that's giving off strange power, is something that would happen in real life! It's just that, in the Marvel Universe, it fits that SHIELD would do it!
Considering it helps fit everything together, it HAD to be done, and not using them would be utterly stupid.

In that regard, people who criticize SHIELD here, are just being idiotic. In my opinion of course ;)

I find the humour in both Raimi's Spiderman and Thor extremely similar. Jokes made ridiculing Thor are perfectly comparable to Spiderman talking about how itchy his suit is in an elevator. And no, I thought neither of those was funny.

Well said.

I find the humour in both Raimi's Spiderman and Thor extremely similar. Jokes made ridiculing Thor are perfectly comparable to Spiderman talking about how itchy his suit is in an elevator. And no, I thought neither of those was funny.

What jokes ridiculing Thor?

And how are they similar? The humour in Thor is a kinda "fish out of water" humour. It fits with the story in that it is showing this extradimensional being is completely out of his element on Earth. But does it in a comedic way.

Of course, but people will complain it is only there to set up Avengers, because apparently these people are stupid.

What jokes ridiculing Thor?

Tasering him or hit him a second time with the car. That's nothing to do with the fish out of nthe water issue, which I know is far more necessary.

And how are they similar?

Unfunny, unnecessary, scene-killers.

It fits with the story in that it is showing this extradimensional being is completely out of his element on Earth. But does it in a comedic way.

And the elevator scene fits because Peter was powerless and he looked a fish out fo the water being Spiderman using the elevator.

Sorry you didn't like them or find them funny. Other people did. Is there really a point in continuing to argue what ultimately boils down to a difference in sense of humor?

Agreed. Amazed there hasn't been a "why so serious" pic posted for El Payaso, shocked we've got so far without one ;)

I don't think Thor really gets made fun of anyway. He mixes things up, but he's so resilient and feels so superior he clearly doesn't care. His reactions to the cars honking at him is priceless.

That's a shame Bren. There could have been a great pun in there about Laufey finding it amusing.

One legitimate complaint that could be levied against this movie is that the Odinsleep is handled in a really jarring way. They mention the term a few scenes after it happens but never really explain it. As a fan of the comics who read the script I understood it but none of the people I saw it with got why he just collapsed and passed out on the steps. I suspect a line or two that better explained it got left on the cutting room floor.

I don't see how the taser scene was unnecessary. It was showing how vulnerable Thor was. He thought he was still some nigh on invulnerable warrior, he arrogantly scoffs at the "puny weapon"... then gets put down like a sack of potatoes.

And Chewy I kinda disagree about the Odinsleep thing. When Loki and Frigga are talking in Odin's chamber it's mentioned that it has happened before and that it is usually prepared for, unlike this time where it came out of the blue.

I really hate spoon feeding dialogue. Any blatant exposition dialogue/conversations between characters gets on my nerves. The way Loki and Frigga were discussing it seemed like a natural conversation, not a blatant expositon dump.
