I wasn't a fan of Thor's Asgard friends at all. In fact apart from telling Thor his father wasn't dead I don't see why they needed to be in the movie. Setup for a sequel I guess.

A lot of their stuff got cut. They were very funny in the script.

And I think it's more world-building but I guess that's just a fancier way of saying sequel setup.

How did anyone like the part when Thor simply put Mjolnir on Loki's chest? I thought that was freaking hilarious.

Yeah that part was genius...I luaghed my ass off watching Loki trying to lift it lol and the way Thor just Stopped caring about Loki lol

I just wish we'd have seen a flash of the valkyries.

Hopefully, they have a scene in the Avengers where Hulk tries lifting the hammer with all his strength but can't lift it an inch. It would be cool if Captain America lifted it at some point but only just enough to throw to Thor.

I would love for that to happen. It should be during a fight, Thor gets his hammer knocked out of his hands and gets pummeled for a bit by a powerful opponent. Cap dives towards Mjolnir as he evades incoming attacks himself, picks it up and throws it towards Thor. Who catches it and swiftly counters the enemie's attack.

After that, you get a quick shot of Thor looking at Mjolnir thinking "How...?" and the fight resumes. Cap shouldn't even know about the magic spell put on Mjolnir.

Not if they're as vanilla as they were in the film, but we'll see what the next movie brings.

Thought it was fantastic. Asgard looked like a Jack Kirby comic come to life, the changes with Jane were fine and worked well within the context of the story. I liked the romance, the clashes between Odin and Thor, Loki's betrayal and Thor's redemption. Easily one of the best superhero movies ever made, and I found it incredibly upbeat and positive. Great movie. 10/10.

Yeah, that would be pretty awesome! I would hate for them to let Hulk pick it up. It would be a real cool scene for him to fail after throwing cars around like they were blocks.

That, and I feel because Loki sees being a Frost Giant as the explanation for why Thor was chosen over him by Odin all these years, t was the "why" he was looking for, he sought to prove he is NOT a Frost Giant, but a true Asgardian, he sought to destroy his own kind. Show he is truly Asgardian and better than Thor.

It was great and very layered.

odin never intended for loki to take the throne of asgard but the throne of jotunheim because he is the prince of that world .. however the fact that odin lead him on all his life that he could be king of asgard was pretty bad considering his father laufey king of that world left him out in the cold to die , it was almost saying here you can have the seconds . do you really think odin could see past who he was ... I think he did love him but deep down he could not get past the fact that he is laufey son and a frost giant ... it really is sad ....now its gonna bite odin in the ass because in the comics so I am told loki takes control of jotunheim anyway but not in the way odin intended he causes more war rather than peace, he should have been honest with him from the start .

Of all the Marvel characters who've appeared in feature films (both those produced by Marvel Studios and those produced and distributed by other studios), Thor is the one that I know the least about, and I absolutely loved the film, ranking it up there in terms of quality with films like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 2, and the first two X-Men films, which says a lot about both my individual tastes and the film's overall quality, because it was able to appeal to me in generalized terms given that I didn't come into it with a whole lot of existing knowledge about the characters involved.

If I were going to give the film an official rating and ranking, I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars, and put it at #5 on my Top 5 list of favorite comic book films (alongside BB, TDK, SM2, and X2).

In fairness, Routh had a stacked deck. He was basically told to do a Christopher Reeve impersonation. That was doomed from the start.
