Wolverine ( A less prominant role)

Also if they are throwing out X-Men Origins Wolverine then bring in Gambit and depeding on what happens to her character in First Class Emma Frost as well.
Out of the actors who play the characters above i can only see them having trouble getting back Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and maybe Alan Cumming...

Jackman would never allow Jimmy Marsden to dominate a film he's in. He outbilled Patrick Stewart in the entire trilogy and he wasn't even a solid star yet. Wolverine drives the car, Storm rides in the passenger seat and Cyclops - if he were alive, would ride in the back. This is the universe that Singer established and as much as it pains the fans, it worked.

The focus on Wolverine made the first two films successful and it would not have worked had he been outshadowed by the rest of the team. Logan's just alot more interesting.

With First Class we get the first true non-Wolverine X-Men movie. An experiment I know they're hoping will work, because there isn't one actor in that film that would cost them as much as Jackman.

I wouldn't say Wolverine is a lot more interesting. A lot more bankable? Yes. But all of the X-Men have interesting stories if they could only get the chance to be told. I'm tired of Wolverine, personally.

And besides, Hugh Jackman isn't the one who writes or directs the project. IF Singer wanted to give Cyclops a more prominent role, it would happen.

Hugh Jackman Is going to be the big star In X4.This doesn't mean others can't get their share of screentime.X2 has always felt more a true team film with granted Wolverine
as head of the ensemble.Considering It Is known that If Bryan Singer had directed X-Men the Last Stand It Is known they had plans for Cyclops,he may get more screentime.
It Is possible to have lots of screentime for Wolverine but keep balance.Wolverine should be a big part of action sequenzes but often butts heads with leaders.

I would,nt be surprised if they move the focuss away from Wolverine and give him less screen time, you know seen as he might have 2 solo movies by the time X4 comes out

-I want Beast back but I want more character development for Colossus and Angel and Beast is already working for the government, he already got a right amount in X3 so why get him again?

It would be a dream to see James, Anna, Halle, Hugh, etc being back.

I don't want Professor or Magneto anymore though. Leave them in First Class. Cyclops could become the leader.

I was thinking that if they want to show Rogue with powers more like what she has in the comics, they could show her either accidentally killing someone who has enhanced strength and the ability to fly, or a character with those abilities who is dying offers to let Rogue drain them completely and take their powers. That's basically what happened in the comics when she took Ms. Marvel's powers, except that I suspect in the movie they will not be using Ms. Marvel.

I'd have Rogue flee and recover under the guidance of Mystique.

I don't think a reboot is neccessary. Another shot could likely bear more resembelence to the comics but that really isn't important.

With X3 as the launching point, I kinda like the idea of exploring the post-Xavier world. How would it hurt human-mutant relations? Will they sour to the point that something like the Sentinels become reality? Could it set the stage for someone (like, I dunno, Apocalypse) to come in and seize power? There's plenty to go on, IMO.

As for line-up, you're never gonna get away from Wolverine, in all likelihood. And I'm not into bringing people back from the dead. You still have Storm, Iceman, Beast, Angel, Colosuss and Kitty, all of whom will move up the food chain, so to speak. I'd dig an Angel-Archangel story line, and maybe a bit of callousness building in Colossus and Kitty, ala Age of Apocalypse. It'd be interesting the see Pyro's story continue as well. I'd really only want those characters for whom the original actor could/would reprise their role, but that's just me.

Some new characters who I think would fit: Polaris (might fill the void if Ian is too old, or Mags is killed off), Quicksilver (same idea), Cannonball (I imagine his family being wiped out, perhaps) and maybe even Chamber (just because).

^ I agree with that. Despite the post-credit sequence in TLS, I think Xavier should be put to rest in this timeline.

With what we've heard about the 4 script leading into a 5th, I think a film setting up Trask and the Sentinels has a lot of potential, with a full blown "Days of Future Past" to follow.

I agree 4 IS setting up Trask and the sentinles and 5 will be full blown Days of future past.Showing future where mutants are pretty much wiped out an attempt by surviving
mutants to change history by time travel.

However the thing people should remember Is It IS very possible they are Ignoring
The Last Stand.Basiclly If they are with First Class that will continue here.Especilly If
Bryan Singer IS directing.

Xavier and Cyclops being In X4/X5 depend on rather If the Last Stand Is being Ignored.
Regardless they will not be doing anything to call attention to the Last Stand.

An Older Emma Frost could fill the void of Mystique leading brotherhood from the comic
version of days of future past If Ian mckellan doesn't want to return as Magneto(If Singer directs that Is a plus In trying to get him back but there were some reports that
he Intends for the Hobbit to be his last major film work) but they could also go the way
of having Mr Sinster form a mutant group as well.

I doubt TLS will be ignored, it was too successful. I don't like the film at all; and - for example - I really want Cyclops back, but I think it would be better explaining away his apparent death rather than ignoring TLS and potentially alientating many fans.

of cat Beast.So I am prepared to admit they may be reconning some things In last Stand

Xavier might not get crippled though, and the falling out might not be a complete severing of ties, just the beginnings of their rift.

Also, I still don't understand your reasoning of Magneto not being in the opening scene of The Last Stand changes the plot of the movie.

I don't think you can ignore the Last Stand, but you can try to fix all the problems within an X4.

CYCLOPS:
Cyclops was killed by Jean, but was resusitated in a shielded underground lab by Dr. Nathaniel Essex, with amnesia. Maybe he is even brainwashed for the opening sequence.

STORM: Still headmaster at the School. Co-leads with Cyclops when he returns. If the team splits up, Gold and Blue teams?

EMMA:
Jean should stay dead. Emma is a new teacher at the school and operates Cerebro. She finds Scott and helps him retrieve his memories. Bring in a cameo of a much older, half-brother Havok (linking it to First Class). Beginnings of a romance with Scott?

MAGNETO & MYSTIQUE should be gone from this movie.

ROGUE: Her powers return and she accidentally kills a woman named Carol Danvers, unaware, that Danvers is a mutant herself. Now Rogue has her comic powers.

ANGEL: a student at the school is also kidnapped by Essex and turned into Archangel. Those metal wings would be awesome in live-action.

LOGAN: A teacher at the school, but still a rebel and loose cannon.

GAMBIT: Maybe he's been frozen in Essex's lab since Wolverine. Or through Essex's experiment is given back his youth? imagine Taylor Kitsch and Anna Paquin. Worth bringing him back. He could remind Wolverine of what he was like when he first met the X-men.

SHADOWCAT: a member of the team.

NIGHTCRAWLER could get a cameo.

Kill off COLOSSUS: Maybe Essex is creating a virus that kills him. (died in the comics once and not that good an actor)

The story should not revolve around any single X-man but truly be an ensemble piece, with SINISTER as the key villain. Maybe tease Apocalypse for an X-5 or even X-6.

Just an idea, a way to keep continuity throughout the franchise, while fixing mistakes made in The Last Stand.

Oh, another possibility, THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE. Remember that 4 month storyline in the 90s? A way to bring back Scott!

Possibly start with a montage of X3, then the creation of the alternate world. In the end, it could return to a pre-X3 world?
