103m domestic?

They'll be lucky to hit $160m by the end of this...

I guess they'll make their $135m back.

The thing that saddens me, is the fact that Green Lantern will most likely make more money than this, just because it appealed to the general audience more than this did. It saddens me, because from the reviews coming in, it's no where close to the quality story First Class provided. Oh well. I'll make my final judgement of the movie after I see it!

I was just thinking this before, i bet GL makes a lot more money than FC when it doesnt look to be even half the movie FC is, typical.

Also, have we had confirmation of FC's budget at all?

I'm curious to see how Green Lantern will do. I would consider myself as uninformed on that series as a general audience member, and the trailers certainly haven't impressed me.

^I was waiting for reviews, but with them being poor so far, i'll have to wait and see, but I can see it being a success myself.

Green Lantern definitely looks like it will be exactly what everyone expected it to be. Too much comic book, not enough movie.

Yeah, but I'm just glad we got a good movie. And it will make a lot in DVD sales.

i know its too early but i would love to hear something from the producers/director about the sequel...or positive feelings about having one .. the possibility of not having one is putting me nervous..:(

great Tuesday numbers!!

Better than Wolverine and close to X1.

I think this prequel is having really decent legs.

I think it has possibilities to surpass X1 in USA. Time will tell.

I'm starting to feel the same way, but I think it's too early to tell for now.

maybe....

I think this weekend will tell us if it could surpass X1 or not.

If this third weekend is better than the X1 one, Ill be really pleased and confident about surpassing X1.

It's too early for them to greenlight or announce a sequel, but there are almost certainly discussions taking place. Vaughn has publicly mentioned having ideas for a sequel, as has Singer.

GOOD INTERNATIONAL NEWS!!

- In two weeks, First Class has already surpassed Wolverine boxoffice in at least 4 countries!

_________ FIRST CLASS - WOLVERINE

SINGAPORE: $3,289,228 - $2,559,609
MALAYSIA: $2,826,804 - $2,322,754 (even better than X3!!)
PHILIPPINES: $2,970,699 - $2,049,825
TAIWAN: $2,583,460 - $1,062,118

* And its getting closer to Wolverine gross in Rusia, South Corea, New Zealand, Mexico, Argentina...

are or arent great news??

Internationally, it should do 200+ million and another 150 million domestically, so a worldwide total of $350 million should be in store. Hopefully that will be enough for a sequel.

If First Class has a bigger international gross than Wolverine, Fox WILL do a sequel.

Wolverine is getting a sequel, so if FC works better, a sequel will give them more money yet.

One advantage that an XFC sequel would have to its favor is that FC has been so well received by critics and fans alike that it would build lots of hype for second part. And i'm sure a sequel would improve vastly over XFC just like X2 did over X1.

totally agreed. And Id say even more:

A First Class sequel could get much more than X2 worldwide.

Yes, but it was before the boxoffice results, anyway...we'll see soon

Does anyone think the poor critical reception of Green Lantern is going to work out in XFC's favor?

No, but I do think that it's gonna get to the #4 spot and still find some solid numbers. People are still seeing the movie, it's just that two anticipated movies are coming out this weekend ('Green Lantern' and 'Mr. Popper's Penguins') and that will certainly take affect on it. Then again, I believe that a piece of crap like 'Green Lantern' would hold strong at the BO for long, because of it's bad reception, so I wouldn't be expecting a sequel to that one (and if we do get a 'GL2' and no 'Second Class', comic-book movies are dead to me).

The only way I could see it working in XFC's favor is if people see the bad reviews and word of mouth for GL and go see FC instead. That's about it.

I don't think it'll make that big of a difference.

I remember BB dropping only 36% when Fantastic Four opened! The following weekend FF dropped 60% and BB only 40%.

I am hoping that X-men:First Class will hold it's own against GL.

Green Lantern will have good opening weekend. But let's remember a lot of films this year have done below projections. All these bad reviews could hurt Green Lantern.

I am thinking Deadpool fans won't have to worry about Green lantern affecting Ryan Reynolds doing Deadpool.Warner Brothers will just reboot Green Lantern In teh future. This Is becoming their Operation If there Is bad word of mouth or If It doesn't meet their expections they just reboot. They have been talking about a Justice League film In Different contunity than other Superman and Batman films.

Green Lantern won't have word of Mouth that First Class has that has helped It hang on.

Great Tuesday numbers for XFC. Outsold Daredevil in US Box-office!

Green Lantern will probably get $150 at the end of its run. But it won't get pass by $200 and hello it can't compete Cars 2, Transformers 3 and Harry Potter 7 especially how terrible the reviews are. I expect a big drop on its 2nd weekend.
