Desperate for franchises? FOX made X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: First Class because they wanted to prequels not because they were desperate for new franchises.

Studios are built around franchises. What has Fox got other than X-Men, Chipmunks and Avatar?

They are making Percy Jackson 2 because they want franchise movies and see potential for growth. If it's the same guys making decisions then that's good news for X-Men.

I like Green Lantern but saddens me thinking that even with all those bad reviews (22% Rotten tomatoes) the movie will make more money than First Class..

At least we now its one of the best movies of 2011.

We don't know that yet. WOM can make or break a film.

Green lantern did the same on the midnight screenings as First Class.green Lantern
Is likely headed to a First Class opening recording of around 55 Million. It's going to drop
heavily In second weekend.Reviews are terrable.Word of mouth Isn't going to help It.

GL had the potential to do IM opening weekend numbers given that is one of the most well known and popular superheroes of the DC universe, but it seems it won't rt?

I might check it at least once when released in Mex just to learn a bit about the GL universe, BUT, I might go see XFC a fourth time before it leaves theatres :D

well, the difference between GL and XFC is that 3d sales will definitely boost the figures for GL.

anyway, everyone i've talked to is telling me how crappy it is so i'll probably just get the dvd. i think this will hurt future weeks. we all know that transformers is critically panned but people always raved about it. i haven't heard anyone raving about this one so far.

hope it will affect XFC less.

$2,386,424 Thursday. +2.9%

$108,424,562 going into the weekend.

Yea, I'm thinking $115-125 by the end of the weekend.

If It can make 12 Million over the weekend First Class will hit 120 Million.

If Green Lantern only has a First Class type opening weekend.it IS bad for them considering their tickets are higher with 3-D Showings.

Apart from Avatar X men and Chipmunks Fox has Die hard, Alien, The Simpsons .
Narnia, Ice age ,Predator,Night in the Museum, Planet of the Apes and now Rio
They have enough but more franchises will be nice

According to Mojo its made 242,376,792 as of thursday (Domestic + Worldwide).

Meh thats saddening for me :(.

a better second week than Wolverine and X1.

That's cool.

What were you expecting?

400+m?

It should end up with 300m worldwide. The only sad thing is that X-men won't release in China where it could have comfortably grossed 10+m

I tried to see FC again tonight, but it was sold out. :wow:

The show I wanted to see. The group of kids in front of me tried to get tickets to that show and they told there were only 7 seats left, so they got tickets to the show starting 20 minutes later.

Granted, it's probably in the smaller theater thanks to GL, but the theater was pretty crowded and I heard a bunch of people saying they were getting tickets for X-Men.

It's been doing practically the same numbers as X-Men so far in the US. If it continues there's still another $40 million+ left in it yet.

It's already done better than X1 internationally.

I saw both, Green Lantern, an X-men:First Class (agian) today...

what was funny was there were more people at the x-men showing, then they was for GL...
(gained, their were day time showings, saw GL at 1:00 and X:FC at 4:00, but, still)
