Off topic: Meh, LOTR only needed one movie to show motivation for all of the characters and it was done well within 2 hours, IMO. Last comment on this. sorry:woot:

On topic: I plan to see this again. GO SUPPORT!

motivation isn't a issue when everyone faces annihilation if they don't help the hobbit suceed in his task

#XMen down 5% THU to $4M, $73.9M in 1st 7 days. Close to $74.9M of 2008Hulk which ended w/ $134.8M.

I'm glad people liked the movie, but making a prequel was stupid.

Sorry I disagree. There still would've been more momentum for an X-Men 4. Now if they still want to make sequels there will be less so. Waste of time and money.

I disagree. The movie is not doing very well. So where does that put X-Men now?

It should have been a fresh start instead of a prequel. The whole "pre-boot" thing was a dumb idea. This is exactly what's gone wrong with movie studios now a days. They sit there and hedge their bets, and then end up failing anyway.

I'm not sure what to think of the new Spider-man movie, but I'll give them credit that they aren't even trying to have any connection to the Rami movies. That's the right thing to do.

They will carry on with the franchise one way or another.

In development are The Wolverine, X-Men Origins: Deadpool and an X4/X5 duology. Even without a First Class sequel, there is plenty for them to work on. I doubt they will let go of those rights...

It all depends on the final box office of First Class and, perhaps, the DVD/Blu-ray sales.

You say that like it bombed. It's lent credibility back to the series and if they did make a sequel people might be less reluctant to see it. I'd say they'll probably move on to X4 and continue with Wolverine. However I think a lot of us would like a sequel to FC

Sure credibility with fanboys maybe which I doubt Fox gives two craps about. Why because of this movie not doing well will people be less reluctant to see a sequel? Even less people would see a sequel to First Class.

Development is a loaded term. There's no release date or active production going on for Deadpool. The apparent star Ryan Reynolds is busy with many other things.

X-Men 4 and 5 have never been confirmed or greenlit. Wolverine 2 has no director.

Final box office is going to be the lowest of any X-Men film ever basically.

Not only fanboys but critics as well. Once this film hits dvd more people might check it out. I remember not seeing Batman Begins until it's last week in theaters. I was so burnt by the previous franchise I basically ignored it until reading up on it at the last minute. Something like that might happen with others.

Maybe First Class should have opened on a Wednesday.

What point are you ultimately trying to make?

It seems like nobody opens on a Wednesday anymore. What happened to that?

It opened on a Wednesday here in the UK, and had been set to have previews on the holiday Monday and Tuesday (it wasn't Memorial Day here but still a holiday weekend) but those were cancelled.

Incidentally (or not!) Thor had holiday Monday previews prior to its opening. It also made 50 per cent of its opening from 3D and 10 per cent from IMAX...

That making a prequel was stupid and its performance has left the series in a more uncertain state than ever.

Where's the evidence a general audience would have responded more to a reboot?

And what exactly do we mean by reboot? Starting from what point, with which team? And does everyone wanting a reboot agree on the sort of reboot it should be?

And i'm not being argumentative, i should point out; I'm looking for evidence and answers. I'm curious, too, as to how the franchise will go forward, but even the fans don't seem to be on the same page here...

The proof is in the pudding. This will be the least successful X-Men franchise movie ever.

It's not enough for me to hear Reynolds sound enthusiastic about Deadpool and saying it's happening. I'll believe it when I see it.
