Can you say sequel?
Not yet. These numbers aren't spectacular. All about word-of-mouth and that remains to be seen.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, First Class debuted to $56 million in North America, well less than the opening gross of any of the last three films in the X-Men franchise. However, Fox maintained all along that was never the goal, saying First Class was completely different, with a new cast and director—and no Hugh Jackman. Rather, the studio’s aim was to match the $54.5 million domestic of the first X-Men in 2000, which it did.
“I think it is incredibly challenging to relaunch a franchise. There are preconceived ideas, as well as a comfort factor with continuity,” Fox senior vice president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson said. “We have met and conquered those challenges.”
time to recast wolverine...til schweiger - sgt stiglitz himself...do it vaugh!!!!!!!
I think by all accounts, a sequel is secured. Fox keeps talking about how happy they are in every article.

"This is just an excellent start in launching a brand new chapter of the `X-Men' franchise," said Aronson, dismissing comparisons to the $85.1 million debut of Hugh Jackman's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in 2009.
"You can't compare this one to any of the other `X-Men' movies, except maybe" the first one, Aronson said. "Something like `Wolverine' is a totally unfair comparison because that had a bonafide worldwide star in Hugh Jackman and arguably the most popular character in the `X-Men' stable."
I wonder with fans really loving that one cameo will there just be an X4 ? I know my theater burst out with laughter when he said that line

The theater burst out at my showing too...and talking with a few friends, etc. the last few weeks people love Hugh as Wolvie...
... Being honest my group of 4 and a few other groups of 3-4 were the only ones in the theater, first time I went to an X-Film and it was near empty...![]()
