How can people even expect that high numbers after the sour taste the last two movies have left.
All the good will that was made by Singer with X-Men and X2 has been completely used up by the Last Stand and Origins.
An uphill climb was expected. Fox while doing typical PR is basically saying that its hard to gain back an audience you've repelled with the last two movies.
Couldn't agree more. This conclusion was right there in front of everyone the whole time and few-to-none chose to acknowledge it thinking the brand-name was strong enough and not taking into account the most important question: what did people think of the last movie? That's why I never take tracking, box-office projections, etc. fully to heart because they tend to blow this and/or use the Internet and movie-news sites/fandom as the parameter of how a big tentpole will open.
Same thing as Shrek Forever After last summer, Pirates 4 this summer and what will go down with Spider-Man next summer...
