My own personal guess is Super 8 does around $30-35 million this weekend and X-Men: First Class hits around $22-25 million.

If It does that a sequel Is looking Iffy.I was hoping for Super 8 to bomb so Abrams would get off his butt and decide If he Is directing the next Star Trek or not. It's been 2 years and there Is good chance it might be 2013 till It comes out.

If people want a first Class sequel Instead of X4 they better hope for a X-Men level domestic gross and not a Hulk level Domestic gross.

That makes no sense.

Calm down, children.
We'll calm down as soon as you mods stop calling us children.

Jeez.

That makes no sense.

So you want S8 to tank because it may affect FC's BO? That's silly and childish and no disrespect. I'm looking forward to Super 8. FC got my money so why can't S8 if I choose. You paid for FC cause you had an interest in it. People will pay for Super 8 cause they have an interest in it. It's not Abrams fault that more wasn't interested in Xmen. Just saying is all.
What? How in the hell did you infer all of that? You're way off.

I'm just saying that it makes no sense to believe that J.J. Abrams shouldn't do any other films but Star Trek. That's where I was getting at. I'm super excited for Super 8 (no pun intended) and I might even see it at midnight tonight.

I really don't care about how it may or may not affect XMFC, really. I'm sure XMFC will have legs through WOM and I don't expect Super 8 to pose much of a threat either way.

Yeah Abrams has been spending the last 2 years working on a smaller-scale project that he's incredibly passionate about and looks damn good. What a jerk for not immediately jump-starting on Star Trek 2?

It's better that he got some time away from Trek. So he can return to the franchise with his batteries recharged.

Yes. This right here.

and while we're on the topic, how come none of you watched Undercovers? :cmad:

Jeez.

Well, quit acting like one.

This is intended for everyone:

This is not a Super 8 or an Abrams thread. You want to discuss that movie, head over to the General Movies forum and discuss that stuff there.

If it's not related to FC, it doesn't belong here.

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $69,867,104 48.4%
+ Foreign: $74,586,046 51.6%
= Worldwide: $144,453,150

There was no way it was going to make another 5 million.

It dropped %16, which is better than the %22 that Thor dropped.

I'm going to see this again in theaters probably in the next 2 weeks....my little attempt to boost the Box Office numbers.. :yay:

I want a Sequel!! and if you do too go see it again! :oldrazz:

Ill go to see it again next month in original version.

Im spanish.... didnt like some of the spanish voices....

This Is bad sign If you want a First Class sequel.

No it's not. You don't expect a movie to make 5M on Monday and Tuesday, then go up even higher than that on a Wednesday, that makes absolutely no sense.

The film should hit 100M domestic by Sunday or Monday, hopefully.

Well, we don't get Super 8 till August 5, so it won't affect the UK. We get Kung Fu Panda 2 instead.

Intriguingly, the Green Lantern press screening is just two days before general release (do i detect some nervousness here?) although big posters have gone up across my city now. I'm also getting pestered to promote Super 8, even though we don't get it for another two months...

Oops, just saw the moderator's post about no mention of other films...my apologies..

Anyway, I hope First Class does well, I know several people who haven't managed to get there to see it yet but really want to go!

And with that, I'd like the remind everyone not to post Super 8 spoilers without using spoiler tags, since not everyone will get to see it this weekend.

My nephew liked that movie.

We have been overrun by Green Lantern ads here in NY for what seems like weeks now...

You can talk about it...we just can't have the thread turning into a whole Abrams discussion. As long as the thread stays reasonably on-topic, we're good.

Same here! I'll be seeing it again this weekend.

I was never never thinking It would go up on Wedsday.I was hoping It would do 5 Million
on Wedsday so On Thursday It could hit 75 Million before Super 8 arrives. If It were to drop to 20 Million haul on the weekend It would earn 93 Million(Assuming It holds today
from Wedsday)

There will be another full X-Men film after The Wolverine but It Is looking more and more likely It will be X4.

Quality not withstanding Fantastic Four opened with a X-Men level Domestic gross and Rise of the Silver Surfer had a Hulk Level gross ending the series.

It's very premature to talk about a First Class sequel Inless It has a good second weekend.

It'll be at 100 mil by Monday.

I'll be making a comparission between X-men and First Class foreign boxoffice, specially in some countries (the biggest ones more Spain)

Here are the actual numbers:

........................X-MEN ____ FIRST CLASS

United Kingdom $22,186,479 - $8,935,602
Germany ..........$12,250,936 - not yet
France .............$9,426,024 - $7,517,625
Mexico .............$10,766,863 -$4,740,081
Spain ...............$6,427,028 - $3,287,615

I'm not a box office expert like some of you, but it seems First Class is doing terrible at the BO. I don't think it will make it's budget back domestically. Was hoping for a sequel, but that doesn't look too good.

This Is why I have been saying It Is looking more and More like Fox will not do a First Class sequel and focus on getting X4 made after The Wolverine.

I certainly Hope First Class hits 100 million by Monday But If It has a Thor and Hangover level 60 percent dropoff against Super 8 It becomes tougher.

Fox defently Isn't going to quit making X-Men films but at this point getting Hugh kachman and other past X-Men films vets back In a film Is looking to be the better bet than First Class sequel.

international boxoffice looks to end better than X-men.

Not terrible. Just under-performing.
