Days of Future Past The Official X-Men: First Class Rate and Review Thread

I'm shooting for something around 95 on RT, but the only critical thing I'm keeping in mind, is the fact that almost every reviewer wants to see it again. Hit-hungry contrarian is the exact definition for this one just like you said, that person just wants to have on paper the "this movie is not perfect" review.

Or perhaps he thought it was just an okay movie.

People are freaking out over a 3/5?

Ok I have a question.

Was Batman Begins really considered brilliant or did it get that status retroactively after TDK.

I remember seeing it, thinking it was good and moving on with my life. I didn't even see it a second time in cinema. I don't remember anybody saying it was brilliant; just a good movie, and it's BO reflects that. It's not even a WW blockbuster; it made < 400 million WW.

And once again...

This isn't the Batman forum.

Seriously. If you want to compare XFC to TDK, go ahead as long as the comparison is the focus of the conversation.

If you want to discuss TDK or any other Batman movie...go to the Batman forum.

Posts just regarding TDK will be deleted from this point forward.

Shadowlord, that's twice now you've started a TDK discussion here. I'm giving you a break for now since you're new...but from this point forward, no more warnings about this.

"Casino Royale" has 94, if the early reviews are to be taken into account, everyone loved the pre-boot (re-quel) feel of "First Class" just like they did "Casino Royale", I'm not making a calculation, just an unnecesary guess.

The Incredibles is the only superhero film with an RT score above 94%(I think it's at 97%). Odds of XM:FC getting a 95% are slim.

Crazy, huh? That's fans for ya.

Nah. I don't think we're complaining! The fun thing about early reviews is that they're often full of hyperbole, and contrarians. It's fun trying to sort it all out..get a good feel for what the overall reception will be.

Even up above, me and By_Your_Command were saying that it's obviously not negative, but some things in the Empire review seem like a response to all the prerelease hype it has going on right now.

Amen.

Empire gives it 3:huh:

This better not be already posted, it's rare enough I post myself and I'll be damned if my moment is taken from me:cmad:

Empire gave Terminator Salvation 4 out of 5. The magazine may have good articles and stuff, but their reviews are a joke. I wouldn't be surprised that they give First Class a 4 when they review the Blu-ray, they did the same with M:I:III, giving it a 3 then a 4 later.

Anyway, it's only one guy's opinion.

Except your opinion of the movie isn't going to enlighten you as to his opinion.

I don't think that's important, sometime after I watch a movie, I read some of the reviews by my favorite reviewers and some by others, and I agree with some things and disagree with others, my "perhaps" answer wasn't really meant in bad spirit, of course I'll never know his motivations, all I really know right now is 3/5, mine is ?/5.

Huh..yes it will. He wrote a review, and after you've seen the film you'll be in a better position to understand and assess his criticisms.

Uhmmmmm.......nevermind.:cwink:

I don't get it? Is he in it?

Okay, I'm thrilled we're getting an X-Men movie where he's not hogging the screen and stealing plotlines obviously reserved for Cyclops.

[BLACKOUT]I believe it's confirmed that he cameos and tells someone to go f-word themselves[/BLACKOUT]

Just wait to see all the crying that will happen if First Class drops below 90% on Rottentomatoes.com

Happened in the damn Thor threads as well, hell most movie threads for that matter. If "their" film doesn't get praise from every critic they flip out acting like it's the end of the world.

Thor got a 78% which is still pretty good. I expect First Class to go no lower than the 80's if it drops a lot.

You're awesome Secret Riddle, that's a better answer than mine, I think I wanna trade it.

Yeah, Thor held onto the 90% range until after it had like 60-70 reviews in and then it dropped. That's extremely unusual though for such a swing to occur so late.

What?
You thought FOX with Rothman's involvement would actually release an X-Men film produced by Bryan Singer and NOT have Hugh Jackman show up? Silly rabbit, trix are for kids.:nono:
