If FC is indeed as good as the earlier reviews would indicate, Marvel will have two good movies this summer, and Capt. America is very likely to be another winner. I think Marvel is going to do very well this year.

I know I know...I'm just saying...

I still remember how we all got excited initially about that.

Not really. The movie had been online for a month prior to that, so most people knew how that one turned out by then.

Not me.

Called that thing a stinker as soon as I saw the first trailer and followed the production.

This too.

Yes, really. I don't think most people, at that point had watched the leak and those that did, at the time a lot of them were still on the fence to how much of the film was finished and being kept into the final film. After the initial reviews were being scored, there definitely was, at least from what I remember observing, quite a few people that were intrigued by the early and generally positive buzz.

I'm just referring to the rottentomatoes score, which during the first dozen official reviews that it scored, gave many people a sense of false hope, despite the reactions from the leak.

lol this place has been over run with spoilers that are gonna ruin the movie, i'd say its best that if you want to be spoiled and to resist the temptation to just leave these boards for a week or so , thats what iam doing way to many spoilers floating around here.

Were you here then? Nearly everyone watched the leak. Nearly everyone that did hated it. It was not a happy time here.

For real. I think there might have been ONE person who still had an optimistic outlook, considering it WAS unfinished.

but yea those initial reviews for wolverine happened to be the only positive reviews it got anyway, so no wonder it was at 100%. every single one after that were rotten haha. just happenstance. Not to mention those particular first reviews wern't NEARLY as positive as the reviews coming in for first class. I never saw Wolverine be mentioned in the same light as Batman Begins quality or even TDKs Like X-men FC.

There are people bound to hate first class no matter what. I say it ends up around 84-87%. If not just from the extremely low expectations by everyone from the get go.

I saw the leak when it hit. It was a unique look behind the scenes of a movie production we never get to see and actually made me want to pay to see the film in theaters just for the opportunity to compare them. I thought the leak indicated a horrible movie and lo and behold...it sure did.

Damn. Empire gave the movie a lukewarm review. To me, this is slightly concerning because Empire was my "go-to" movie magazine back in the day. Although the guy who reviewed First Class, Dan Jolin, gave a lukewarm review also to the first Iron Man movie(one of my favourite movies of ALL time). So I guess I shouldn't concern myself too much with Mr. Jolin's opinions.

The only big thing spoiled for me is the unnecessary [BLACKOUT]wolverine[/BLACKOUT] cameo. I'm enjoying reading all the positive reviews though.

I'm a little worried because he trashed the score, but others said it was good. Oh, and I REALLY, REALLY hope this is the quote they use on Rottentomatoes...

"X-Men: First Class is a rock-solid piece of storytelling. It's dynamic, thoughtful, well acted and has a surplus of gingers. Which is always a wonderful, wonderful thing to have."

the reviews look good; i'm cautiously optimistic.

might go and see this day one if the reviews hold up. the trailers looks good.

One guy doesn't like the score, another doesn't like the fx, a different doesn't like January Jones, another one doesn't like the clothes, and so on and so and so on.

If you obsess over every random little thing a reviewer doesn't like you will lose your mind. :yay:

All of the reviews so far have been from good to great. Not a bad review yet. I've seen some films get shred to pieces. I'm just happy this one looks like a winner.

when your worst scores are 3/5 and 3.5/5 you're in good shape.

I'd join you but I think the eye rolling would be a waste of my energy. :p

C-Saw, this is similar in principle to the RT meter. Often in the days before a film's release, the early reviews almost always push the meter up to 100%. But as the dust disperses and more of the reviews filter though, and once all the reviews are collated, good and bad, the meter scales down and the final tally is often the true measure of the quality of the film (though of course even that's subjective).

This happens even to the best films. You need to relax, mate.
