The Positive Reaction Thread

IMDB is making me LOL. The closer we get to release date, and the more positive reviews come out, the more desperate the bashers there seem to become. They're acting like a bunch of hornets who hear the exterminator coming, to the point where they'll actually lash out and call anyone who's looking forward to it a studio shill. Paranoia often goes hand in hand with desperation, I'm told.

What I don't get is why so many people have invested so much emotion into hating this movie that they don't even want to believe that it might actually be good. I guess it comes to show which ones are there because they want their opinion to be right, and which ones are there because they like GI Joe.

It's mostly that btresmike guy. Dude's so desperate to keep people from seeing the movie that he called all the positive reviews fake and the only negative one legit.

I'm really shocked at all of the press...I'm going to see it with an open mind and expect nothing more than what the positives have been expressing, just child-like ridiculous glee without the terribly base humor of Bay, but I always expected the reviews to tear the movie apart, but it seems that something about this flick has prised open the old and managed to bring out the little kid in us and I don't see how you could possibly ask for more in a Joe film.

All the original hardcore enthusiasts are up in arms about the film's inaccuracies both specific and tonal but good lord, this isn't a mythology that has the depth of say batman, spiderman or iron man, they were movies and cartoons and comics developed out of a friggin toy line. If you want to pay tribute to GI Joe, pay tribute to what started it, mindless action-figure glee.

LOL, btresmike is indeed a childish d-bag. He actually had the nerve to call me a troll after (attempting at) insulting me several times. Pretty much all of it can be deflected with a simple "no u" though, because phrases like "your mom's a prostitute" are about all that he's got in his arsenal.

I'll admit, I'm getting more interested in this film. Even though I don't think it will be great and despite Tatum being miscast, it does look like fun. I am opening up to it a bit more.

But are their really positive reviews for this? I thought this was gonna get torn apart.

I don't think I'll see it, watch it on the internet. It cant be worse than TF2 can it?

Honestly, I know he isnt a great actor, but I have warmed up to Tatum as Duke. Especially for a younger version. I think the girls were pretty good in terms of casting.

Tatum as a young Duke which is what i realize sort of looks like him, but he doesn't have any charisma. If this wasn't an origin movie, Whalberg would of been perfect.

Despite Knowles getting benefits from the studios and ****, I swear to God, everyone uses this against the film when they want to hate on it. "Oh, they just gave him a basket load of ****. That's why he's sticking to the movie."

I will always laugh at the idea that typical fanboys will go that far and be gullible enough to believe the studios pay off that many websites and critics for them to lie.

As Doctor Jones said, they want to hate it so they'll pull out any load of BS from their asses.

This film according to the reviews is summer fun and was made with kids in mind for the most part. I don't see how that's a bad thing since those of us who grew up with the cartoon, comic and or figures were all kids.

It's sort of an obvious element, but its good to hear that he's aware of and likes Cobra Commander's classic mask. Apparently he doesn't like the "pointy cap thing" (The hood, I guess).

He also says he cut out a minor action sequence with Scarlett beating up on Neo Vipers. Bah!

I love that he is so gung ho about a GI JOE 2. No reservations whatsoever, no secretive nonsense. I like that Dr. Mindbender is mentioned for the sequel, continuing the themes of mind control, and in some sense, mentorship, introduced in this one.

you can leave the blue hood out as far as Im concerned....the classic helmet would be fine by me

The blue hood wouldn't work. It would be too damn wavy and distracting. Going all over the place in action scenes you wouldn't know what the hell's going on with him.

Make it metallic or some sort of durable helmet.

What if it's a black helmet/faceplate instead of a blue one? Would people object to that? Granted, it looks like he wears a blue one in RISE OF COBRA.

I never cared for the silver face plate, it was silly looking. You couldn't see his eyes ever so there was no fear involved. He may as well have been a mindless robot with that mask.

Won't piss me off if they use it but I've always preferred the cloth mask.
