The Positive Thread

I'm looking for something to get positive. So help me. All I got is the Thing looks awesome.

I'd still like to see something official from the studio though. I mean BvS was delayed a freakin year until 2016 and we get to see more from it than F4. I still have interest because of Trank and the cast but I won't have this interest forever.

Agreed.

Its no longer gonna open with the Pixar film, so thats good news!

I just hope there's no blockbuster fatigue by August 2015, like there was in 2013.

LOL if you think Disney is going to let this thing succeed. They will do something to make sure it fails. The house of mouse is as evil as they come.

Well obviously we don't share the same view so whatever you want to say.

I haven't even voiced my opinion so how can you say that? Just saying that Disney is going to do what they can to make sure it doesn't succeed. Not once did I say it wouldn't succeed............but I do hope it doesn't. :o

Although there is a lot of negativity surrounding this project, a lot of it not surprising at all, I cant help but feel this may turn out to be a good movie.

Trank is a good director, Chronicle is a really good movie which showed he can do a lot of things necessary for a CBM to work. Yes its different to FF, but Usual Suspects was different to X-Men, Memento was different to Batman Begins, etc, etc.

Also, Fox's movies as of late have been mostly superb, First Class, The Wolverine, DOFP, Rise and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, all great movies, only really Die Hard is a bad one they have made recently, in terms of blockbusters at least.

I have a feeling a trailer will come out for this and everyone will love it. It'll be interesting to see.

I want to be positive as well. I really want to see a trailer. And as some have said, it really can't get any worse than Corman's or Story's films.

Totally agreed with this. I find it silly when people say this will be bad because of the quality of old Fox superhero movies like fantastic four or Origins as the only reasonable insight into the current studio practices is to look at the quality of current movies they offer

It would be like saying BvS will be bad because of Batman and Robin, when that's long enough ago that it's irrelevant

There are none of the same people involved with this or BvS that were involved with the Tim Story F4 and B&R respectively

 And Trank is a talented film-maker, they got him to do another Star Wars spin off for a reason, they want the best young talent making those movies. And Fox's output for the last four years has been at the very least good, with lots of it being great.

Because I want to avoid talking to the negative people Miles Teller says it will
be totally different from past FF films and be more "Grounded" and he compared what they are doing with X-Men first Class.

Grounded can mean a lot of things.David Goyer called man of steel a more
realistic Superman film.Plus we know a lot of green screen Is being used
and the origins involved alien world or dimension.

We all know with casting they looked at more ultimate FF.and If we ignore
the studio wars people would think this is good cast and director they got.

^Again that all sounds good to me, FC was a great movie and if this is anything like that we are in for a treat.

I'd also like to add that in Fox's favor they were behind The Maze Runner (which I have yet to see) which is the only YA based movie outside of The Hunger Games to get a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I mean 63% isn't amazing but it's good for a YA based film. I'm annoyed at Fox's secrecy but I suspect that the Fboot will be a decent flick at least.

Teller bringing up First Class as a comparison is good because I felt First Class was a good film. And I also agree that "grounded" or more serious doesn't mean anything. The X-Men movies are just that and they have time travel and mutants with magical powers. It's how they execute that tone (any tone) that matters. Some characters I think are better off not having that tone but a good movie is a good movie.

The Fault in Our Stars? Also Fox...

In terms of Rotten Tomatoes rating... I expected worse from The Maze Runner so thats a pleasant surprise.

Agreed, First Class was awesome.

True, grounded can mean different things to different people.

The Fault in Our Stars? Also Fox...

Not sure but I think they haven't had a Rotten rating this year.

Dawn of The Planet of The Apes
X-Men Days of Future Past
How To Train you Dragon 2
Fault in our stars
Maze runner

A few of those are 90%+

Rio 2 and Lets Be Cops got a rotten rating. Though Gone Girl and Mr. Peabody are both fresh.

In new interview with MTV Miles Teller mentioned Josh Trank fought for this cast.

I take this as good sign.Directors of films from X-Men first Class have mentioned Fox supporting them making films they want.Matthew Vaughn said Fox supported him being able to make First Class as he wanted even with the tight schedule.James Mangold also talked about how Fox let him with the wolverine make film he wanted to make.

It bodes well that Josh Trank Is able to get who he wanted for this film.If it fails it's because the GA didn't click with his vision.Being based on Ultimate FF Is based on comics. It's just not the one many would prefer.

Tank was very much In demand after Chronicle.Hell Disney came calling for him to direct after this one of Star Wars Spin-offs.If we ignore the studio wars on a regural film If people heard this cast was hired they would support it.

James Mcavoy In FC and DOFP doesn't resemble Xavier at any time he has been seen as adult In Comics but few would bash his performance as Xavier and say because so far he has had hair playing Xavier as adult, although that will likely change with Apocalypse, and call XINO.

Teller being in popular film Divergent doesn't hurt the promation of Fantastic Four.

I was talking about fantasy/sci fi YA films but point taken. And it even proves my point even more actually. It's not easy for teen weepie romances to get such good reviews. Not everything Fox does is considered decent or good but right now most of it is.

The Fault In Our Stars was 80% fresh.

EDIT: Ninjad.

Also, Fox needs to show us a trailer since they missed comic-con. I'm thinking it should be tied to Hunger Games, Taken 3 or Hitman. The absolute latest anything should be shown is with Fast 7. Fox really, really needs to do some promo for this.

I'm looking forward to this movie a lot, can't understand why or how its already doomed when we haven't even seen a trailer or anything yet lol. If that looks bad then I'll judge accordingly, but I like the director and actors so I'm looking forward to it for sure.

Also, I find it kinda funny that this thread is mostly commented in by people who are big fans of the XFilms. Studio loyalties? Hehe

They've had a great year all thanks to Emma Watts (ok, not ALL thanks, but the woman has done an incredible job), and she's still the driving force behind X-M:A and FF...

I think the main thing, and it is something that we can probably say is a for sure is that it is based much more on the UFF rather than 616. That has been very obvious from the beginning.

For those who are decades old fans of this comic book and what you grew up with over 50 years was the 616 version and really from what we have seen is taking very little (if anything" from 616) I can definitely see why they are not happy with what they are seeing. From those that I've seen who I know to be true long time fans, they are not necessarily saying this film will not be any kind of success, they are simply saying that it will not be a Fantastic Four film they have hoped for for decades. Those that are just saying it's crap, won't be any good, won't make any money is already doomed from the start....I see that as more of a pseudo troll type of thing to piss off those that are fans of Fox, or these actors.

I think you have to realize that there is a difference between those saying it is doomed as a "long time fans dream movie for the F4" and doomed "because they think it will be bad acting, bad script, etc"...I don't know of many of the latter on here.

Most fans that are saying it is doomed are just saying that as a solid Fantastic Four 616 adaptation that they have been hoping for, from what they have seen and heard....that idea is doomed at this point. I don't think you need to see a trailer to figure that out.
