It's moronic for me to think that FOX would do what the studio planned to do after XM:TLS? If you remember your X Men movie history, and apparently you don't, the plan from Rothman was to continue the series with lower cost solo spinoffs.

If fans are foolish enough to spend their money on reduced budget garbage that bears no resemblance to the source material, then guess what? FOX is going to give you more of the same. But I promise not to say I told you so when it happens.

Fox isn't going to slash the budget for X-Men Apocalypse, nor are we just going to get solo spinoffs. According to Mark Millar, who's producing both films, the X-Men universe works because the different teams cross over with one another. So somebody from X-Factor guest starring in an X-Men film is cool. An X-Man appearing in an X-Force film is also cool. That's usually how it works. The only X-Men characters who're even able to go on solo adventures that audiences will pay attention to are Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Deadpool and Cable, possibly also Shadowcat.

At the same time, I feel like splitting the X-Men into two teams alongside X-Force with Wolverine and Deadpool getting solo films while others get one and done solo films is the right way to go, then put New Mutants and X-Factor on TV.

Let's say against all odds that FFINO is a hit. In fact, due to its low budget it actually outearns XM:A for FOX:

FFINO
Total Budget - $ 75 million
Total Box Office - $425 million
Profit - $275 million
(Using BO less 2 times the budget)

XM:A
Total Budget - $225 million
Total Box Office - $700 million
Profit - $250 million

If this occurs, we'll likely be looking at much lower budgets for the X-Men series, with grim, gritty and lo-fi replacing the fantastical elements of the series. Fans of the X-Men series who are supporting FFINO simply out of brand loyalty should be careful what they wish for.

Eh, by 2016, we are getting the 8th and 9th X-Men film. So if the upcoming films have lower budget than DOFP, I won't care. I was actually happy when The Wolverine only had a $120 million budget. Not too much CGI/action yet it was still a good movie and a very intimate one.

Bull****. Neither Punisher reboot came close to half of $200,000,000. It took me approximately two seconds to think of that as soon as I read your post. For crying out loud, stop spouting out made up facts. We're on the internet. It takes like two minutes tops to check the box office numbers. I think this calls for some triple smiley action.

:whatever::whatever::whatever:

This brought a huge smile to my face. I'm at work so I can't really LMAO. That last Punisher reboot barely made a 5th $200M world wide.

Does speaking positively equate to posting misinformation and fabrication? If so then I guess the truth about this reboot really does hurt.

QFT.

For anyone who's willing to not be cynical and automatically pessimistic, there's actually a lot about this movie - especially now that we have a synopsis for it - to be excited about.

.........Is it positive to dismiss people who simply want an actual F4 film as cynical and pessimistic?

Better yet if Fox came up with Doom Von Sanford and his "Big Dummy" son Lamont conquering the world one junkyard at a time, would turning up your nose to it still make you the bad guy in this thread?

I'm just trying to understand the overall logic here since throwing naysayers or people put off by said synopsis under the bus seems to be a prerequisite.

To be fair to CWR, he probably thinks that the Punisher films are not "real" Marvel films since they weren't made by FOX.

For all the crap this movie is getting...and yes, I too am a skeptic and am deeply concerned about the steaming pile of crap this movie sounds like its going to be...I think the leaked photo of the Thing bust looks amazing.

How will you feel if it glows green in the final product? :oldrazz:

I doubt the final version will get that weird radioactive glow, but I'm curious to see if that supposed concept is accurate to the final product other than that. The head looks pretty darn similar to the leaked bust. If so, I'm not impressed at all.

I had not seen that. Is that legit?

We don't know yet. Even if it is, there's no guarantee it's anything close to the final look. I've seen some truly bizarre official concept art before.

not a big fan of that design

reminds me of the **** demon from dogma

is there any other concept art out there?

It MIGHT be concept art for the movie Thing.

If it is, then it'll probably be fairly close to that in final design.

Actually, I went back and compared. It is too different to be the same. Must either be fake or an earlier version.

Concept art very rarely looks exactly the same as the final product, nor does a stand-in used for a CG character. We can't necessarily go by that.

I doubt the final product will perfectly emulate that concept even if it's legit, anyway. It's just the latest talking point, really.

Not liking that design. Sure The Thing is monstrous but he's more stubby and has a lot of personality in the face. That's too tall and Abomination like.

The traps are the worst part and the bust didn't have them so I don't to think that's a final design of just concept.

There's been concept for loads of superhero movies that looked really different than the final design

 How can you not?

Well I'm sure that there will be at least one positive person who'll say he kind of likes that design and thinks it looks interesting and a fresh take on Ben.

yeah Kirby was a hack. What the hell did he know about good character design anyway?

I'm pretty positive that this Thing concept art is pure trash.

If I ate nothing but extra-cheese pizza for seven days straight and then took a stroll through a nuclear reactor, I'd eventually **** out the same thing.

It's not from this film, I don't know where that's from. The design is signed if you look closely at it with the artist name. If you cross reference it with names from the art department attached, that name does not appear.
