I think this could be a decent movie, but I fully expect it to be a horrible FF adaptation.

I don't really have any hope of it being a decent film anymore. Sometimes a good film can come out of a tormented production but mostly those films just suck.

Well what makes it a tormented production? They haven't changed directors, no stars have left, and studio has not just dropped the film altogether. That would make it tormented, as far as anyone knows this went really smoothly.

Except for all those Josh Trank rumours getting high on set and trashing homes and being fired behind the scenes which indicate it hasn't.

To take a note out of Whiskey Tango's book, quoting this in case I need to find it later. :o

Is there a link to this? Or are these rumors just heresay/conjecture?

The rumours come from people living in Baton Rouge, where the production was filmed.

It also explains why Kinberg is the only one who talked about the project, kinda like he did on DOFP after Singer was accused.

Looks like we might get a decent FF film once the rights revert back to Marvel after Fox scraps this in post production and we'll get a better Fantastic Four in another five years. That's being as hopeful and optimistic as is humanly possible right now.

In other news, I really, really hope that Disney takes him off Star Wars. Everything I heard about Trank's behavior for the last few months has me hoping that he never directs a film like this again. I mean, if he seriously blew as much money as the film cost to make on repairing a home he destroyed by partying, then he deserves what he gets.

My sympathies to Teller, Jordan, Mara, Bell, Kebbel, Kinberg, Vaughn and Millar. They deserved a better director and now Millar and Kinberg won't be able to cross the FF over with the X-Men.

On the plus side, who's ready for Guardians 3 to be Annihilation?

Here's a link to the source and a summary of what some of the locals have been saying:

http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=30350679&postcount=843

And I have personally seen four or five tweets from various "Hollywod Insiders" who also indicate there is something going on with Trank including one who indicated he is off the film and 'not taking Fox's calls'.
There's also Bleeding Cool's story that Fox was looking to dump Trank. Granted that never did come to pass and I don't generally put a lot of weight on these sort of blog rumors... but this one stands out to me because when the rumor was denied Bleeding Cool stood by their story:
UPDATE: Screen Crush cites high level Fox sources denying this story. However we remain confident in our source. Bleeding Cool suggests that if Fox really would like to stomp on the rumour, they stop approaching folk to replace the director.
So I'm inclined to think there was some basis to it.

Oh and Rob Liefeld stanned for the film recently. So there's that nail in the coffin. :whatever:

(If anyone has any other links though, please feel free to share them. It might be a good idea to keep a compilation of them).

ETA: To be fair, I personally don't think all of this is necessarily true. I tend to take these sorts of rumors very skeptically. But given how little we know about the film and the number of negative rumors cropping up ... it does raise some red flags.

I probably should have written this before, but I shared the links to show that the movie has been included on several lists of 2015's most anticipated movies. I was not trying to create a database of rumors (true or not) on this, the positive thread. Some of the comments in the entries do mention the lack of information so far and the various controversies surrounding this production, but still express some amount of confidence, or at least hopefulness, that Fox will in the end deliver a good Fantastic Four film.

Funny how most of the movies on these articles have official posters/pictures to accompany their entry... except for FF, who we don't even have a damn logo for yet.

Fantastic Four is only on those most anticipated lists because it's a comic book film and those are the blockbusters of the 2010's.

Exactly, it's almost obligatory.
It's worth noting that all of those list's mentions the numerous trepidations about this film.

There should be fears for any new movie not apart of a established series. However there is a lot of good professionals in front and behind the camera. A rising star director on his way to making a Star Wars spinoff, and a writer coming off a masterpiece by most critics and audience members. Then three upcoming talents fresh off critically acclaimed performances. That doesn't secure a good film but it sure doesn't hurt.

No doubt there are always trepidations but the Fantastic Four reboot has more than the average film.

So Fox got this director who is coming off of a critically acclaimed sci fi film and they cast critically acclaimed young actors as the leads so it begs the question; Why are Fox hiding this film then?

And please do not tell me that they are not. I and many others have already proven that Fox are indeed hiding the film. I'm seriously asking you, why do you believe that Fox are hiding this film?

They are not hiding it but that is how they do business. Rise of the planet Apes released an official trailer only 4mos before it was set for release. Other studios do more with properties like this but Fox does not.
