The Positive Thread

I and many others have already proven that Fox are indeed hiding the film. I'm seriously asking you, why do you believe that Fox are hiding this film?

You have PROVEN that Fox is literally "hiding the film"? What do you mean by "hiding?" The release is 7 months away. Is it not within the realm of possibilities that Fox has planned a (random number off top of my head) 6 month long marketing campaign for the movie? Maybe have it start AFTER the Superbowl, and after the AOU's and ANT MAN's plethora of teasers and trailers have made the rounds on social media. Does every CBM have to be marketed the same way? In this case, maybe holding out is working for them. I am not moving any goalposts here - and I certainly do not pretend to know a lot about huge studio film production marketing - but I am pretty confident 20th Century Fox knows what they are doing.

They are not hiding it but that is how they do business. Rise of the planet Apes released an official trailer only 4mos before it was set for release. Other studios do more with properties like this but Fox does not.
I'm not talking about them releasing a trailer. Please stop bringing up something I'm not complaining about.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E is a rumored 75million dollar budgeted film that is not a comic book film and we have an official set photo. That film comes out a week after FF and yet WB aren't being super secretive about it.

its definitely unusual in this day and age to have no official set pics or official stills from the movie but their approach is somewhat intriguing to me.

And we have not seen a single official thing from this movie.

That's a fact.

When, in reality land, films have AT LEAST something out by this time or earlier.

That's how these movies work.

And if they diverge from the norm, there is something WRONG.

In this case, maybe holding out is working for them.

By continuing to further the negative image this movie has.

Surely the film is in good hands then.

but I am pretty confident 20th Century Fox knows what they are doing.

I'm sure you are.

Um guys, this is the "Positive Thread" so why get so bent out of shape when someone had a positive take on the film....IN THE POSITIVE THREAD. Chill out.

Nobody's stopping anybody from being positive.

I acknowledge that because this is the Positive thread I am probably off topic. I'll take it to the other threads.

We didn't get a trailer for First Class until February of 2011 and The Wolverine's first trailer didn't drop until March 2013 if I remember right. Fox does this kind of thing frequently.

Paradox1 nailed it with saying that's how Fox does business. I'm sure we'll see a trailer in the next couple months.

They were hyping up both of those movies before they even filmed (in the case of First Class, they actually gave a fairly detailed description of how the film would begin) and they promoted them throughout the process in a variety of ways that didn't involve a theatrical trailer. Fox really doesn't do this frequently at all.

Nice try, though!

THAT was not my point....
It is the positive thread, you got something positive to say then do so, if not move on, it is not "The positive thread so that others can berate and make fun of people looking forward to the movie".... I'm sure having at least one place on this forum that people looking forward to this movie can post and chill is ok, you got 20 other threads to post in, this is just not one of those. So again, post something positive or move to another thread, you got plenty to choose from.

Yeah except we're not talking about teasers or trailers or whatever goal post you move to next.

We're talking about ANYTHING. Posters, promo images, production stills, cast photos in character, concept art.

There is nothing. Which is not a good thing and NOT business as usual, unless somebody has something to hide.

THAT was not my point....

Not according to this post, from this very thread.

Why you may ask. Well....in case you forgot this post from Kelly (an administrator on here) made just 6 days ago.... I repost it for you - http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=30337825&postcount=449

People are allowed to have....AND....post opinions that you do not agree with.

Look....I actually despise the entire idea of this thread, BUT....as long as people are posting their positive thoughts on it, and not simply arguing points that have been argued to death, and as long as people are allowing others to post in a positive manner without the (also done to a dead horse degree) WHY they think their positive opinion is stupid. Then it stays open, but with my patience running thin these days probably not for long....

So, with all of that said, post something positive about the damn movie or move on.

I think it's gonna be pretty good.
Maybe even surprise us.
We shall see.

There's no doubt in my mind that it will be a good movie, but I just don't think it will be a good Fantastic Four movie. Everything about this just screams off!

Not according to this post, from this very thread.

You missed the point of that post of mine you quoted.....it was directed at a guy who had repeatedly been attacking those who did not share his opinion...he had repeatedly been told to stop attacking people who didn't share his opinion...and then he comes in here and attacks the people who didn't share his opinion. My post was not saying that you can say whatever you want in this thread, it was saying that people are allowed to have different opinions and not be attacked for saying them.

So since you and others do not understand things unless it is spelled out slowly and very very clearly.....this thread is for the people who have a positive feeling about the movie to come in and talk about it without being hassled and attacked for that opinion....BUT....it is not for attacking the people who do not have a positive opinion about the movie.

If there's any truth to Trank's behavior on the film, then you can understand why Fox is hiding the film, if in fact they are hiding it.

It's difficult to say for sure, but while some people may want to have a positive outlook on this film, I could stay positive, if I had some evidence to stay positive, and that would be true of any franchise, not just this film.

Green Lantern is a film that comes to mind because we saw alot of pre-production stuff as early as a year before the release of the film. Much of which I thought was great. It wasn't until I saw the actual film that I realized the hype didn't add up to a polished product. As Movie Bob put it, it was the most cheap looking 200M dollar film ever. But up until it released, I had a positive outlook on the movie...a popular character.... a seemingly fit actor for the part... a just budget for a sci-fi heavy property.

For those of us with reservations, people on the other side need to understand, we saw a FF film that had a $120M budget, that looked cheap and horrible. Spent the whole film sitting around doing things that weren't fantastic, and then end it with a two minute battle scene and the movie is over. The biggest problem with the first FF film was that they weren't the imagi-nauts they were in the comics. Now we have a film with an even smaller budget with actors that are hard to understand how they fit the persona of the characters they are playing.

We hear nothing from the director, we hear nothing from Fox, the actors are put under gag rule. Can some of you understand why those of us that are skeptical have a hard time remaining positive for this movie?

How many times do we have to say post positive things in here or don't post at all? This includes pointing out this movie has no marketing. We have multiple threads for discussion on that issue. Don't use this thread as one of them. Do I have to say this in alternate languages for people to understand? Or will you guys actually LISTEN to what we're telling you?

I really did enjoy Josh Trank's Chronicle, so I'm excited to see his vision of the Fantastic Four. I also think Michael B. Jordan is a great actor so I'm happy he gets to play the Human Torch.

I say the fact fox has moved the sequel's relase up In 2017 saying they like
what are being delived by trank.Fox doesn't announce release dates for sequels to films not yet out yet lightly.X-Men and planet of the apes are different storys.

I say there is very good chance fox releases teaser next month with Kingsman.
Which fits fox's MO.

I am remaining hopeful till i see a trailer.

Apparently.....some of you guys are real hard headed and must have thought that 3 mods saying not to stir up crap in this thread really meant - Please, come in and stir up crap in this thread.....well, they were wrong because they have infractions for doing it. The next one gets time off.

Since this is the "positive thread" i would like to say that The Fantastic Four has become my most anticipated movie of 2015! Yes it sounds ludicrous but it's the truth and it is MY opinion. The fact that we know so little about this movie and nothing official has been released at all about the film makes it so interesting to me, i want this movie to be good! I come to this forum almost every other day to see if there has been any news on this movie just because it has caught my curiosity. The Fantastic Four has potential to be a great story driven film, will it be hit like Avengers 2? Probably not, but as long as the story is good and the acting is on point, I am all in for this movie. I can not wait to see the trailer simply because we know nothing about this movie!

Honestly, if the rumors about Trank being fired are true (and they probably are), then I have faith that if Kinberg can make the film watchable in the editing room/with reshoots, then he'll be a saint.

The fact that Fox is adjusting the release date for the sequel means that we're absolutely getting a sequel whether this film succeeds or not. Thankfully it's just the origin story.

Anyone remember how there have been great sequels to absolute trash? Mortal Kombat: Armageddon was buggy, half-finished and incredibly unbalanced. Mortal Kombat 2011 managed to blow everybody's mind. Neverwinter Nights was seen as a lousy sequel to Baldur's Gate 2 but the expansions to that game are classic and Neverwinter Nights 2 along with its own expansions blew everyone's minds. Among the James Bond movies, Moonraker was a travesty but it was followed up by For Your Eyes Only, A View to a Kill was followed by The Living Daylights and Die Another Day was followed by Casino Royale. GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra was one of the worst films I've ever seen in my life but Retalliation managed to create a really solid action movie. House of 1000 Corpses was a lousy retro-horror film but The Devil's Regects is one of the best outlaw movies of all time. Star Trek 5 was the worst of the original series but Star Trek 6 saved the franchise. X-Men 3 and X-Men Origins were both terrible films but the last three X-Men movies have managed to bring Fox's series up to Marvel's standards. Then there's the first two Star Wars prequels which were followed by Revenge of the Sith. The first Street Fighter game had only two playable characters, poor music and some low normals weren't even coded into the game, Street Fighter II was an improvement in every way possible. You can indeed make a great sequel to a failure.

Vaughn is also still attached to this film so who knows, if he is helping to polish the film right now.

Since this is the "positive thread" i would like to say that The Fantastic Four has become my most anticipated movie of 2015!

Its my most anticipate movie of 2015 too!

There are a lot of high-profile movies coming out in 2015. What exactly is it about this film that has some of you giving it the title of "most anticipated"? Over Star Wars 7, Avengers 2, Jurassic World, etc?
This is not me being pithy, this is an honest question. We know next to nothing about this movie and nothing has been released yet, so I want to understand why some of you are so hyped for it.

The fact that Fox is adjusting the release date for the sequel means that we're absolutely getting a sequel whether this film succeeds or not.

Don't be so sure...I remember when WB announced Green Lantern 2 before the first one came out and flopped.
