The Dark Knight The Rachel Dawes thread

Hoping they won't rely so much on the dialogue to get ideas across now we have a more capable actress. Seems almost ridiculous but the look pretty much said more than the entire performance in Begins. I'm glad Maggie's apparently pushed Nolan with her own ideas, it's a big blind spot. With quite a few issues in Begins there's a large disconnect between the way Nolan describes the film and how it turned out, and also the dialogue characters spout and the way it actually comes across. Hopefully they come together better this time

I prefer Katie in terms of look !:woot: :hehe:
Even in looks, I prefer Maggie :o

Maggie Gyllenhaal = Ultimate Rachel Dawes

If the character dies, now I will truely be sad. Whereas, Holmes' Dawes would have left me all "meh" if happening.

Me too. Maggie's great. That whole scene in the penthouse looks classy.

we're all different !

Thank God for that! What if we would all would watch The Bold & The Beautiful?

The average IQ would probably be 50. :woot:

Am I the only excited about the character of Rachel Dawes (please no jokes)?

A loved Maggie Gyllenhaal in the trailer she feels stronger than Katie Holmes. I love the way she kicks Joker is the balls.

No my friend; you are not. I think Maggie adds a lot of depth, class and beauty to the role. I enjoyed her confrontation w/ Joker as well in addition to the way she looked up at Bruce from her table showing genuine emotion. A stronger cast makes a better movie.

Maggie's hot in a sort of, "I'm ugly too, I could probably have sex with her If I try'd" sort of way.

Are you really now? Umm .. okay. Thanks for sharing that.

But back to Maggie .. she's actually quite attractive. Maybe not a sex kitten type like that Megan Fox hottie, but who cares?

I just Rachel has a role other than "love triangle interest/damsel in distress". Something political, maybe. Some kind of counterbalance to Harvey Dent's psychosis.

Yeah, Maggie definitely exudes a maturity that Holmes couldn't provide in the role. You can tell just by the looks she gives in the trailer: Rachel is actually a strong, independent woman... and actually believable as a district attorney. And I don't care what anyone says, I think she's attractive. Plus, this movie now has no connection to Tom Cruise whatsoever. Upgrade in every possible sense.

Well said.

I wish Nolan had cast Maggie in the first place. Holmes was atrocious.

Yeah I hope so. I could see her doing something with the court battle side of the movie. A lot with Harvey I imagine. She was sort of the face in the movie for the courts/justice department in Begins, so I could see it happening again.

I think Nolan was kind of in a bind.

The Rachel Dawes character was created with Katie Holmes specifically in mind...at least according to Goyer.

I was kinda sad watching the new Rachel n the trailer. I used to laugh at the old Rachel, now she seems serious and unlaughable. I want to be able to laugh at the acting of my Rachel so bring Katie back!

No, seriously, I prefer Katie even though she's the inferior actor because it's so odd to see a new actress playing the same character with the old cast still the same. But if youre gonna replace Katie, Maggie is a perfect choice.I just wish Nolan had thought of her before making part 1.
