Considering some of the low-brow quotes I have been seeing around here, I thought I was in the Superman forums for a second.

Luckily somebody is doing a good job cleaning up the Bat-Boards.

Does she really have to play Dawes? I mean really? Theres no consistency with the women in Wayne/Batman's life. I think we got closure from the character at the end of Batman Begins. Maggie could be someonelse...I understand if they've already got a script that included Dawes...but, theres plenty of time to correct that. One thing I hate in sequels is when they can't get the same actors to fill the part...in a larger role its harder to adjust...but here...I think they could just make Maggie a new love interest. Not too happy about this...happy about Gyllenhall but not about her playing Dawes.

Obviously the character still have significance in the series, otherwise they wouldn't have recast her.

Apparently she really does have to play Dawes and what you took as closure was something else that is to be played on in the sequel.

Maybe, just maybe, you will feel differently once you have seen TDK.

Sorry Fanticon, I know where you are coming from but Maggie G. is Dawes. It's not like at the end of the film she said she was leaving Gotham so you figure she will still be in the DA's office in TDK. Since there will be a focus on said office in TDK, it would be strange to not see her around. Of course, you could always write in that she left town in between films but I don't think that would be consistent with her character. She seems close to the city of Gotham and wants to do her best to help clean it up. But like I said, I see where you are coming from as I kinda felt the same way you did, although I am starting to warm up to the idea of her character being in the film now.

How about we see the movie - or at least a script review - to see how relevant the Dawes character is to the story? I get the continuity complaint, but I´d rather see a replacement - especially a better actress - than lose a character who´s relevant for the story.

Then if that's the case WB should have made this move a LOT sooner than this so they could have written her out the script,this is all a bit of a buzzkill for me but still at this point i just want them to muddle on and start filming.

It's starting to become apparent that Tom Cruise has a few screws loose, but that has no bearing on Katie, since she's an adult and can make her own decisions, both professionally and personally.

Regarding the recast, I would have preferred to have Katie back because I don't like recasting in general, but after having watched Maggie in 'World Trade Center', I think that this recasting incident has the potential to be as successful and acceptable as WB's 'forced recasting' of Professor Dumbledore in the HP films.

Hunter don't lie, we were up chatting about it all night with kleenex and cookies.

So Maggie is cast, so now what is her role going to be as Rachel. More involved with the plot according to reports. What about her relationship with Bruce? Will that evolve?

I always said that Dawes would not die, it would be stupid to go down that road after the first movie.
Not only it would be a cheap trick to pull for dramatic effect, that would only cloud the all Batman/Joker rivalry for the "Joker killed by girl" crap; it would be stupid after the all "maybe when Gotham doesn´t need Batman anymore...".

I said it before and I'll say it again. I didn't really care for the Rachel character and I thought thought that Holmes was bad in the role, she was way too young looking and just plain didn't act out the role well. Does that mean she is a bad actress? No. She is just wrong for these strong grown up women roles hollywood tries to throw the baby faced looking pop tarts in. Maggie G well be much better and hopefully actually have chemistry with Bale. I can't complain too much, because despite the fact that I never wanted a M.J character in a Batman movie she might just make the character worthwhile. We will see in 08.
