The Dark Knight The Rachel Dawes thread

and i like the fact that Nolan isn't having Bruce jump from girl to girl in this series like the Burton-Schumacher one. i personally wasnt a big fan of the "player" aspect of Bruce Wayne. yes we saw some of that in Begins but it was used as part of his "playboy Bruce" facade. Rachel is the one woman he really cares for, and i actually like that Nolan has chosen to keep the character as a way of keeping Bruce grounded and focused.

That might work, okay. But I never saw the previous franchise Bruce jumping from girl to girl because of being a "player" but because he was simply unable to keep a girl around, with all the Batman secret life and such.

I'm not a fan of re-casting but Gyllenhall is a pretty good choice, better than McAdams for sure. One thing, though: She, like Holmes, does look young. I know she's got a more mature aura, but she'll still look babyfaced next to Bale.

Oh, and thanks to everyone with spoiler-Spider-Man 3 avatars.

If you don't want spoilers that are in trailers i'd suggest the hype isn't for you

What trailer was that, Mr.Condescending? The only trailer they have released so far didn't have those images in.

Fair enough if I was on the Spider-Man spoiler board, but I'm not, I'm in the Batman forum.

I'm not being condescending i am telling you how it is and just because you are here doesn't mean that everyone here has to not have SM3 avvies,a lot of posters are fans of many characters and it's not their fault you didn't see the preview that aired on monday and has been all over the Net

By the same token, why should people who have avoided the footage have to see it just because some people want it as an avatar?

Well...I also don't want this to turn into another "have to save Rachel" again re-occurring moment in these films. Saving a damsel in distress is fine...saving the same girl over and over will get boring. The great thing about the other Batman movies is that...the fact that he had more than one love interest over the years was also somewhat true to the comics. Part of his disguise is carrying out the stereotypical side of a billionare like Bruce Wayne...can't say he doesn't enjoy it either. But...the women he does get too close to in his life...will sometimes have bad outcomes ending in tragedy...I don't know...maybe the Dawes character will just be the start as to why Wayne tries not to get too close to women for the rest of his life.

Because it is their right to represent their favourites and it has appeared in a trailer that is in public domain plus if it's such a big deal for you then select the option to block images from this site and no avvies will appear to you.

Great choice for the role and I do hope the Rachel character gets killed by Joker. Batman doesn't really need love interests but its good to see them stick to someone.

Now, for continuity- pull a Lucas! Yank out Holmes from BB and insert Maggie! Lol.

Don't know... just seems odd-

And I have no right other than to be forced to view it? Am I right in thinking that somebody in say, the Spider-Man 3 non-spoiler section would be able to see an avatar in there that spoils part of the film? Why should I have to switch off avatars to avoid shots of a film that's not even relevant to the message boad I'm viewing?

I think it's pretty unfair to display pictures that can ruin people's viewing experience when it's not in the relevant section, but as you don't we'll have to agree to disagree.

People come to the Hype to find out about these movies not avoid knowing about them, you are very much in the minority in not wanting to see anything and you make it sound like people should only use avvy's that fit their section, that's not how this works, the hype is a community where posters visit many sections.

The solution and compromise is we provide a function for you to ignore them by turning images off, that way both parties get what they want, that is the diplomatic way to do it.

Are you gonna close your eyes if you go to the movies and the trailer comes up?
Its footage from a trailer, it's not like its leaked footage.

This is not a well considered move. Its too bad Katie cant return.
Kate Bosworth said SR carries on the Superman curse so hopefully TDK wont have the Darrin curse. I hate playing tricky games with audiences.

How about this "V?"

SHH! has no rules against using officially released footage for avatars. There's really nothing else that needs to be said.

I hope one day that you will look back on your post on this and think " Man I was in a bad mood that day."

If a few 3 second animated gifs bother you, then yes you should do as Hunter applied and block images from this website.

Also, your getting way off topic complaining about Spiderman 3 av in a Batman forum. If you have a problem take it to the General forum or the art forum maybe some will agree with your perception on the matter.

This is just one thing not to be to hot and bothered about.

It's a bit off topic seeing Spider-Man images in a Batman forum too. I actually tried to end the subject seeing as nobody agrees, but about four people have carried it on.

I'm not hot and bothered, just disappointed that I had to see footage I chose to avoid.

No it's not, this isn't a segregated board,i already explained that posters post all over and choose their avvies off what they are liking at that moment in time and then change to something else as new footage and pics arrive from other movies.

But Kermit's making an appearance in TDK, so I'm good .

The only thing I am against is people posting spoilers to a movie that isn't the topic of discussion. Someone ruined Million Dollar Baby for me in the Superman Returns thread a long time ago I think.

is this seriously a problem in your life right now? no? then stop whinging

Does that mean I can't have my Henry Clay avatar in the "Politicians of the 1800's Thread" because somebody might not have gotten that far in their history class? Please advise. Thanks.
