I remember Maggie said Nolan ask her to do Rachel Dawes this time around not some generic lady in a dress. Im sorry her character, story and this love triangle is still generic, clumsy and a blur. What's original about it?

Drool time awaiting TDK:

Batman comic geek like me always has room for Katie Holmes and Liv Tyler. :cwink:

Maggie without make Good Lord, there's an image I can't bare. The woman may be a good actress but she ain't no Mona Lisa. Besides she always get the weird roles in film. Ironic that her first major role may last only 10 minutes into the film.

Why couldn't this have been Katie Holmes?

Only if Tom Cruise jumps after her...:pal:

Everybody that was whining about the 1 minute viral clip can now see that theres a difference between that clip and her performance in the movie.

Her performance is much better, especially her "I want to sex you up" look she gives harvey

Still no difference when people will clap when Rachel dies same way people clapped when Parker accidentally hit MJ and down she goes on the floor on Spidey 3. Cruise is busy saving Katie from her latest Hugh Hefner invite to the Playboy mansion. Maybe Hefner saw The Gift movie and saw Katie is a gift. Speaking of Hefner, there's Hollywood buzz too of a Hugh Hefner biopic and many fans suggest Aaron Eckhart to play the part. I saw young Hefner and there's some semblance to him and Eckhart. :woot:

If Rachael does indeed die in TDK, trust me, no one will be clapping. Maggie will breathe soul and empathy into a role previously absent with those qualities when Katie Holmes played the character. People will be moved and saddened by her death because they will actually care about Rachael. However, if Katie Holmes continued to play her, yeah, some people may have cheered. I suspect that's why Nolan and company got rid of Holmes and got a real actress.

I imagine people will be in shock and gasp, because it is truly unexpected in a summer movie. Heck, at the aforementioned scene of MJ getting hit by Peter two out of the three audiences I saw it with someone gasped and it went quiet (admittedly the other some people laughed), I suspect in this much better movie there will be true surprise that this happened in a superhero movie.

I feel the surprise of it all is gonna be diluted largely in part because of the recast. I'm sure Maggie will be great, but the character in general just isn't as big as Lois Lane or Mary Jane. Add to the fact that a lot of people will not associate Maggie with BB, and it just comes off as a "quick" love interest that's died, as opposed to something larger.

It only makes sense that Rachel would get killed in this movie. Her death will probably be the catalyst the forces Batman into the DARK Knight and TWO FACE to have such a hatred to Batman. He'll probably see bats as responsible for the whole thing.

Plus, I'm sure they'll bring Robin in on this franchise in future films, and I don't see his training happening with Bruce having a G/F and all..

All discussion of Rachel's potential [BLACKOUT]death[/BLACKOUT] should probably go here.

I hope there is a robin, but not for this series which I really love.

I sincerely hope that Nolan will not go back on his word about no Robin in any of his Batman films, especially in the next one.

BRUCE: That's it! No more women! From now on, it's only young boys in pantyhose.

Chris O'Connell has already been cast as Nightwing (WB inside source)
