More movies? Yes. Same cast and director? Doubtful. Why are so many people saying this is the end when sony has said there will be more films?
I was going to call this topic the reason behinf Venom's death - but I thought that was too spoiler-ish
I, like most of you, love Venom and was disappointed to see him perish, but I'm reading some pretty crazy reactions here, namely:
Raimi hated Venom and the fans who like Venom so much he killed Venom out of spite.
??? I think if Raimi truely hated Venom he would've treated him like the way Schumacher treated Bane in Batman & Robin. In fact I saw a pretty loyal treatment of the character with several references to the source (the church bell scene, Eddie Brock's motivation).
Anyway I digress I think the reason Venom had to die was simple: Raimi had to wrap up the trilogy and resolve all the storylines
If Eddie Brock had lived he woul've been an unresolved loose end. Think about it - if your trying to wrap up a trilogy you can't exactly have an obsessed maniac who knows your identity still in the picture. Yes I too would love to see Venom return but lets face it - if Sony want to do it they'll contrive a plot device to bring him back.
But within the context of these films, killing Venom is the unfortunate but logical conclusion.
They took Hal Fishman's newscast ( "This could be the end of Spider-Man" )too literally lolWhy are so many people saying this is the end when sony has said there will be more films?
i enver thought that the final swing meant something happy. the ending ofthe first movie was nto happy. or was it?
looked to me like he was venom just some hours.
and thats dumb writiing. when did gwen and peter go to the club? i guess late. then you have the events at teh club. hten the church,MJ in the taxi,.....
there was to much stuff happening in one night. and then a lot of people and kids on the street at lets say 4 in the morning.

I'd love your ideas regarding the Lizard and the Black Cat, but personally I'd love to see the Shocker as the villain in a future Spider-Man film. Maybe have him be a rogue soldier formerly under Captain Stacy's command or something like that...it'd be interesting.Killing Brock helps ensure we don't have his character again... and to be honest we don't need his character again. If people really like the symboite then they are going to introduce Carnage so they have a different human story to go with.
This film set up a lot so they could carry into further sequels. That includes furthering Dr. Connors storyline, introducing Gwen and her father Captain Stacey, not resolving issues with Sandman (since it was in fact Peter's movie - yet he could still play into future films in some capacity), leaving a piece of the symboite.
We all see the possibilities and considering how this opened, I would imagine Lizard and Carnage is where Sony will be leading. Lizard makes logical sense and he would add something new to the movie, plus someone Peter is connected with. Carnage on the other hand would allow similar effects to Venom, but offer a different character underneath.
Considering how well Spiderman and New Goblin's teamup has be seen, it is likely they will introduce a character into the arc that could work along side Peter. It's obvious Sony would lean towards Black Cat since they seem to have a strange attraction towards her... almost including Felicia in films before.
Quite frankly I was disappointed with the use of Brock. I Liked Topher but he wasn't in the movie much.I wanted to see Eddie descent into total depression. Losing Gwen, losing his apartment,Calling his dad for help yet his father calling him an embarrassment, not getting work all before going to the church. However we see none of that. His hatred is not explored. Also The symboite hatred isn't explored .It isn't even metioned in the final battle the symboite hates peter for rejecting it.. Venom doesn't even say "we".The symboite saga could have been a lot better handled then in the movie.

I refuse to read everything so if this has been said before, sorry for the repeat.
Remember, no body usually means no death and even if they do die, question it.
The only persons we saw truly die in the trilogoy is Norman and Harry. And I believe Harry may have faked his own death. Why, well think about it. That stuff made Norman so crazy he couldn't control it (even with the advice from his butler) so why could Harry? The deaths where too close also. I mean, what are the chances you would die the exact same way as your father (unless it is of natural causes, of course)?
Now Venom, you never saw his death what so ever. You saw a flash of light (agreed - that is what a pumpkin bomb did) and a little bit of Venom disolve. But remember, Venom always had a way of protecting it's host. Also Dr. Conners still had a little bit of Venom himself.
See, I believe (as bad and corny as the movie was) the movie left the door open for a lot more. I think Harry is really alive. Venom is still alive. Doc Ock is still alive. Sandman is (definitly) still alive. So I believe we can look forward to two more movies (to intorduce Craven and The Lizard - and then Mystero ((which I still believe is Bruce since he has played so many parts)) and Hobgoblin (which will just be introduce really to show that Harry is still alive) and then a final epic movie with the Sinster Six (which would be made up of Hobgoblin, Venom, The Lizard, Doc Ock, Mystero, and Craven - with Harry secretly in charge of them all) fighting SPIDER-MAN.
Anyway, that is my idea.

Brock's death is one of the highlights of this movie. It was just so final. And, that's why I loved it, because Brock was one of the weaker elements of this movie.
He had very little dimension, and the whole "I like being bad, it makes me happy" attitude just didn't work for me. I don't find characters like that interesting. There was just nothing about him that made him seem real or interesting, IMO.
Good riddance to him.
