The Reboot Joker

Oh God, I hope Matt Smith stays the hell away from Batman, he's just irritating to me

That's because you have no taste, class or soul. ;)

I can deal with having no soul, but taste or class? I own a smoking jacket, AND a cravat

How can anybody dislike Smith?

Sure, he boinked Daisy Lowe, but still :o

Gaspard Ulliel IMO :

That actually wouldn't be terrible, just on looks and voice. I wouldn't mind the Joker being played by a comedian myself, but it would have to be one with some balls, not one of these guys that make lame jokes about their kids and costar in Adam Sandler movies.

Honestly, I would like to see a more cynical, fast-talking Joker rather than the kinda weaselly one that Heath played (not dissing him, just saying I'd like something different.) Hader would be good if you're looking for someone who sounds like Heath, but I would like someone like a young Dennis Leary. I can't think of any new guys like that, but that's what I would like to see in a Joker actor.

i can get into this .

also, regarding the "purge " guy : since i've only seen the trailer for that movie and don't plan on seeing it i can't really comment on him. but he did give me a joker-ish vibe when i watched that part in the trailer.

Matt Smith would be perfect. He has amazing range and can be both hilarious and frightening as the HERO on a FAMILY show. Give him a villain in a film that allows the malicious and dark? It could be striking.

However, I do not think the Joker should be in the first Batman reboot. Actually, the best way to introduce him, IMO, is in a World's Finest Movie with Harley Quinn. That makes him immediately different from his previous films if he is going after Superman at the beginning, at the very least. Of course, that only works if they do that before a Justice League film.

Just a thought.

I think Harley is key to distinguishing the next Joker from his predecessors. For me, she would be testimony to the dark, seductive charm of the clown Prince. While Heath's Joker was like a murderous, moth-eaten Fagin, the next should be Dracula with brain damage and a misfiring libido.

I think I'd like to see Mistah J in more than one film in thise series, maybe one film loosely based on The Killing Joke and another loosely based on Under the Hood.

Permawhite Joker as close to Mark Hamill's as you can get. Also, I'd love to see him take on Batman in the World's Finest movie along with Superman VS Luthor, THAT would put asses in seats even more than Avengers if you ask me, and then I'd have the Joker and Luthor from World's Finest show up as recurring menaces in their respective series.

I would love that.

Yeah, this one really has to be permawhite so that it doesn't seem derivative of Heath's.

Appearance: A dandy rogue. Tall and lithe. Tight purple pants with a green vest worn over a black-purple (blarple) kevlar body armor. A purple cloak (red interior) and a broad-brimmed purple hat with a green feather cocked to the side. The cloak's interior has compartments for various weapons and gag-weapons. Greenish-black hair worn in a neat shoulder-length fashion that frames a sardonic mein. An albino with a taste for fine food, loose women, and fixing a broken world through theatrically gruesome schemes tinged with macabre comedy.

Arsenal: A cane concealing a sword meant to parody Lady Justice's sword. The hilt could have slots for cartridges of Joker's chemical weapons. The gases are deployed from the sword at the push of a button so that it appears as if the blade releases trails of the stuff with each slash. Other weapons are traditional Joker fare from the comics.

I want an older hideous looking joker and a younger Harley Quinn to make it more interesting. But I prefer an older joker younger batman. Not much older but maybe joker in his late 30s batman in his mid 20s

I think that an ageless Joker would be more interesting if the new series elaborates on Batman vs Joker being an unending struggle. Also, a hideous Joker being dangerous or deadly is almost expected. A disarmingly handsome dandy that could turn vicious at the drop of a hat is scarier.

I think The Joker who looks monstrous was already brilliantly depicted in TDK. As Alligator says, we have yet to see the princely, seductive element of The Joker. He should be a moral as well as a mortal danger. He can still look a rabid beast, but that comes after the mask has slipped, the hostages are dead, and it is just him facing Batman on a rooftop, with lead piping and his .38.

The reboot Joker should be played by........

..... Christian Bale.

*brain explodes*

Trying to come up with a cinematic equation for The Joker and got the sum of Dennis Hopper as Frank Booth, Dwight Frye as Renfield, Robert De Niro as Max Cady, James Cagney in The Public Enemy, Richard Widmark in Kiss of Death and Klaus Kinski in real life, divided by 70s David Bowie, Alec Guinness in The Ladykillers, Peter O'Toole in The Ruling Class, and Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates.

So...

Feel free to check my math.

Matt Smith would be prefect. I've thought of a few others, but can't remember those right now.

I think Matt has a great amount of energy for the role, great posture, crazy hair, good laugh.

Anytime I'm watching Doctor Who and he's just standing there, shoulders up a bit, head down and he turns like the joker did in The Dark Knight, makes me think he could pull it off.
