The Dark Knight Rises The RETURN of the Official Thread for "BATMAN 3" Fanart & Manips

To expect someone to be as big as comic book Bane in real life is an unrealistic expecation, to say the least. In the comics he is about 400 pounds of solid muscle yet is a competent martial artist.

That is impossible in the real world. Someone that big wouldn't be able to lift their arms above their head, let alone be a believable martial artist or fighter.

The size he was in Bronson is big enough. He was well over 200 pounds in that.

Correct- Hardy is also a short arse, so a little bulk goes a long way.

Camera tricks my friends...they do wonders. A bit of working out, make-up and lighting goes a LOOONG WAY

He already looks pretty big if you see him in images of The Warrior

These drawings are good... except for the unimaginably small torso area....

I really hope we get something bigger if they're gonna do Bane...

Not unimaginable

I thought he said he was around 180-190 for Bronson? He doesn't appear to be well over 200 pounds.

I've seen pictures of him in the comics, and he is not equivalent to 400 pounds in real life depending on the depiction of him. The one in another thread here where he's wearing a pink/purple robe is nowhere near that number.

He's probably closer to 275-290 pounds with the level of body fat that he's got in those comics.

Jay Cutler, Mr. Olympia, whose contest weight is about 274 pounds. (Arnold's contest weight was 240 if that gives you any idea)

That guy is only 274 pounds?!!? What is he, like 5ft tall or something? And could you believe him as a competent martial artist/fighter who would give Batman a run for his money?

I guess I was being hyperbolic. But I just don't think it's necessary for Bane to be that big.

Yes, actually.

Brock Lesnar won the UFC heavyweight championship at 265 pounds.

Hardy will do a good job, but I really wish he had more size; at least 220 pounds.

Hell, I'm 215 pounds and I could play him better visually.

Fair points. But isn't Lesnar more of a wrestler type of fighter? Not so much a martial artist or stand up type of fighter.

Hardy said he was around "14 stone" during Bronson, which is british-speak for just under 200lbs. I do wish he would get bigger than that but I doubt that will happen.

lesnar was a wrestler... he had zero capabilities as a striker... he got his ass handed to him twice by the only comptent strikers he faced... he was just big, good wrestler that took people down and then pounded on them.... nothing martial arts about him...

It's just an example showing that people who are that size are still able to fight well.

Lesnar is the one who looks closest to Bane from a muscular standpoint; the Cain Velasquez guy won't be an underwear model anytime soon.

Heh. How much effort must it take to make yourself look so stupid? :woot:

He hardly looks stupid. Sure, he's got that Jersey Shore *****ebag demeanor about him, but from a physique point of view he's nothing short of impressive.

it was a bad example... lesnar is hulking and slow...

most of the best MMA fighters range in weight from 180 - 235... the best of them don't look anything like underwear models because they like to have fat on their body... so they don't gass out.. muscle requires too much oxygen... and they burn out...

as long as bane look intimidating... its all good.

No, it wasn't.

Bane has the structure of a bodybuilder so the heavyweight division would be the one to take an example from; not some 180 pound middleweight.

Argh. I hate guidos just as much as the next guy, but Cutler is actually a pretty cool, family type of guy albeit somewhat vain. (kind of a necessity in his line of work)

More pictures I found on Deviant art, again, not mine, credit goes to original artists.

They're all great, though I like the first one the best. The third one could be translated into the Nolanverse as-is.

That middle one is awesome, such a dirty, gritty look. Not much Catwoman action going on in it but that "palette" would be cool to see.
