I do think they are gonna have to limit Rocket's screen time because of budget/time constraints. Even if that budget is 200 million plus. Nailing the character will be just as difficult as the Hulk, if not more so, and the more you spend on one character the less you have for all the other absolutely critical stuff. I assume he will have more screen time than the Hulk did though.

No. Hulk is well known for being a dumb brute & not talking alot (though this isn't my preferred version of him). The few people who DO know about Rocky know that he's a wise cracking badass.

You mean Rocket is going to be built up as this cannon-toting badass for two acts, then be killed off like a candy-ass nobody by an alien antlion?

I think Bendis just meant that they are the sort of buddy element of the film, Rocket speaks for Groot and maybe they will add a little comedic stuff at times. I can see what he (I assume) meant.
I want Rocket to have the voice of a British awesome action hero, someone who at least sounds like it. With this cool voice. I was thinking (but not necessarily sold on it) that someone like Jason Stathum could do it, because he has played these unstoppable deadly characters, and it would be funny to have that voice coming out of a Raccoon.

Thor, Iron Man, Captain America all would have been eh without the comedy. Especially Thor as much as it pains me to say since I absolutely love the character and Hemsworth. Iron Man would have been completely screwed since the story was not very good of what little story there was.
