The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Scene Gwen Stacey Died - Part 1

No. I think they'll just have her live. I mean, if she lives after this huge set-up, the best possible opportunity for her to meet her tragic fate, her dying later might lack all that dramatic impact. Peter is supposed to change at the end of this film. He's supposed to learn a lesson, switch from being high on life to depressed, or something similar. So if he's learned that lesson, if he's changed so much, Gwen's death might all of a sudden lack any sort of thematic meaning. It could still be sad. It could still be dramatic. But I don't think it would tie in with the themes that were introduced in the first film and that are supposed to play out in this one.

Yes, exactly. There is already such a huge amount of build-up for her death with so many hints layered all over the place, if it doesn't happen in this film there's a great possibility her death would become anti-climactic.

True, I sort of agree with this. I think her death needs to happen now if its going to happen at all.

Not saying the series will suffer if Gwen lives, but it will probably turn out like USM (where MJ was the one thrown off the bridge), and Peter ends up breaking up with her to protect her. But then it would be like the first movie all over again, so IDK.

I can almost guarantee that she'll die in this one.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like she is going to die. But of course there is still the chance of her surviving, so IDK.

I think, and hope, that she does. I just think it could add a layer of tragedy to the story that is oddly beautiful in its grim nature.

Oh of course, there's alway a chance she won't die. But I really doubt it at this point. Harry goblin has to be in this movie for a reason, you can't just have him come in fight spidey lose and be done with it. You know what I mean.

Gwen Stacy, spidey, and goblin all at the clock tower. I would say its very likely she will die there, but you never know.
wat with that picture of her already on a clock wheel, it makes me think that peter's trying to get here from there in your avatar. if she does die there, she would be falling in midair, not already sitting at the bottom

WAT?! i thought you believed gwen was gonna die! and wanted it!

Fixed.Better edit before somebody else gets confused. :cwink:

I almost feel like if she does live, then we have been cheated.

This image could be before she gets killed… as in she is below watching the fight and eventually gets taken by Goblin.

I do believe and want her to die in the second.

What? I meant what I typed. Picard asked if we thought Gwen would die later if she makes it through TASM2. I said that I think they would just have her live. They wouldn't kill her then because then a lot of good thematic elements are lost.

It's possible goblin just comes over and knocks her off that clock wheel.

Or he just kills her by hitting her with some sort of projectile. I don't think she'll necessarily die by falling and dying from the sudden stop of being caught. She could, but there are also other options they could consider.

I don't know, I think she is going to fall. Even though it's not happening at a bridge, they should keep the part about Spider-Man having to catch Gwen with his webbing.

Than what do you think spidey's shooting his web line at?.

It would be pretty lame to see Spider-Man trying to web something from falling on her.

"Oh no, watch out for that falling scrap metal! I'll stop it with my trusty webbing!"

He could still be shooting it to catch Gwen. But that doesn't necessarily mean that's the moment where she dies. I'm just saying there may be certain changes to her death in this case. I don't know that there will be. But there could be.

Why is that lame? If something is about to hit her and he thinks he can stop it, he'd definitely try to. Not saying that will happen, of course.

I can live with Gwen not being dropped off a bridge by Norman, but I really want her to fall and have Spidey be the one to kill her. Much more powerful that way. I really want to see that play out, especially when you have someone with acting chops like Garfield.

It wouldn't be very powerful if Spider-Man just has to stop a falling object from hitting Gwen. When the Goblin physically grabs her and throws her down, and her neck snaps… it just hits you really hard.

Heck, Gwen surviving a fall would have a bigger impact than her dying from a falling object. That's just how I feel is all.

I'd prefer to see it that way. I think they could do a fantastic job of capturing the essence of that story arc. But I'm not expecting it to play out in any particular way. I'm pretty sure she'll die. That's the extent of my expectation. The rest of the details could be anything.

Absolutely, spidey should be partly responsible for her death. And I agree I'm confident Garfield will nail this scene.
