It's a good thing you know what that material looks like then. :whatever:

wtf do you think it's made out of? Adamantium and vibranium are fictional metals bro.

Aluminum is a safe bet, though they probably have ones made of resin and other materials for different filming purposes.

He's saying, that even though you know brushed aluminum isn't indestructible, how do you know what a truly indestructible metal would look if you've never seen it?

Oh, if that's the case then the answer is I wouldn't. It was just a joke so the comment was fairly flippant.

That is one badass shield. ^^

well to be honest there isnt a lot to nitpick on the Thor costumes or the shield...this is how you do a costume adaptation. What are the elements of Thor's costume. The cape, The winged helmet, the circles...all of those are present with hollywood upgrades

shield needs to be painted, its red silver and blue. should be red white and blue

Wow! I actually didn't even notice that the white was replaced by silver when all of those pictures from the Comic Con were released. Surprisingly enough the silver comes off as almost looking white to me, and does not bother me in appearance. However, it could come off as offensive, since he is suppose to symbolize America and white is one of the three colors shown on the flag.

I just realized they showed 2 different shields during SDCC

i just think the silver one looks more like a drum symbol, or a hubcap cover. the white makes the red and blue stand out more. im sure it will get painted or maybe the old shield is silver and the new one for present time will be red white and blue. anyway the silver just stands out to me, not a big deal.

Is that second shield also silver? or is that just the blue reflecting off the fake ice? EIther way... the second shield looks way less official and way more bargain basment than the first one.

no the second shield is red white and blue but its super glossy and just for pictures. the first one seems more like the actual prop and is red white and silver.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I don't see the point of them using the real Mjolnir hammer for the Thor poster/prop and then use 2 different Cap shields in the same show:huh:

I'm not sure if this shield is the same as.....

I would say the one with the silver is the one that appears in modern day (so the one that appears in IM2) and the white one is maybe the WW2 one?

I think the shield Stark has in possession is meant to be a failed prototype of the unique one Cap winds up using (cap got buried in the ice with his shield after all).
This would also explain how it's gone from being fully intact in IM1 (that brief shot on the table top) to being well stripped down in IM2 above (if it was the 'real' shield that couldn't be done)
Presumably Stark 'dismantled' the prototype in developing the alloys he uses for his own armors?

Of the 2 shields I'd say the strapped one in the display case is the actual prop they are using, and there won't be another (well, not another disc design anyway). The smooth one in the 'ice' was probably made solely for display/promotional purposes.

Under closer examination of the scene you can see that the shield in IM1 is also a "stripped down" version.

It is? Fair enough (I remember it looking whole but it's been a while since I looked).

Same theory applies either way: Stark has a very destructible prototype, and cap is buried with the unique real deal.

Least I hope that is the case. Caps' shield should be as unique as he is.

Total and unequivocal agreement.
......and to add ...there is no high tech element to the shield....other than the metals used that give it amazing properties.....it's only Cap's skill that makes it so effective.
