hopefully he has cool poses when throws it
like some of the stuff we're seeing in the new tron trailers.

joe johnston?

i just want to see cap do a forward roll with the shield in front. then after the roll he throws the shield.

I'd like to see the shield be indestructable, but only at the end of the movie. It would be nice, if he had the 1940s shield that's been shown in flashbacks over the years.

They could easily have him lose that shield when he gets frozen, then he gets this shield from Stark at the end of the movie. This one being indestructable; designed by Tony, using vibranium.

That's what I would like to see, and the most plausible answer. Another small note about the shield, I'd like to hear a dull thud-like-"clang" whenever he hits someone with it. Something that really sells how strongly it's made.

dig a grave with the shield for a fallen soldier or something.

The shield should be indestructible and the source of it's indestructibility better be Vibranium the alien metal found only in Wakanda (Setting up The Black Panther's eventual partnership with the Avengers )

I'm pretty sure whatever sound effect they use for a shield making contact with a persons head or helmet is gonna sound good. It might make you cringe because of the fact that it sounds like it hurts :awesome:

I just pray they have a learning curve with the round shield. Show him training with it or show time passing. If they issue him the disc and he immediately throws it around and banks it off enemies it'll really hurt credibility. They did that in the "Ultimate Avengers" animated DVD movie. I hated that...

good point my man, but it's safe to assume that they will. the director and the main actor keep saying it's a story about a simple man with a heart given this incredible potential all of a sudden, it would fit in their description that cap has to undergo training, we do have tommy lee jones in it after all right. i smell awesome montage. i hope too

I think that this shield can be destroyed:

The other shield not.

So, that would be the cheap 'tin-esque' shield that is given to him for the USO then, eh? hmmmmm....................

that shield looks like wood, makes sense, it only supposed to be for the uso show

Whatever it's made of it appears that the "USO" shield survives some level of combat as it's still strapped to his back in this photo.

Sooo cool that the classic Triangle shield is making an appearance! Look under that leather jacket, there's your classic costume as well.

Spoiler Alert:

They said a while ago his USO costume would pay heavy homage to the original 616 costume.

and the Retrofit, WW2 costume he is wearing on the cover of EW is more in line with the way he was presented in the newer more modern flashbacks to that era.

-Pretty kewl- IMO.

I like the blue Helmet with the A on it.

i remember saying on here how the shield's inside from comic con reminded me of the inside of a trashcan lid. then in the trailer you see the lid being used as a shield.

The round shield definitely should be indestructible. It is an important part of the character.

I posted this in the costume thread, but I figured I post it here as well, as I may get better input from those interested in the shield. I am working on my own suit and shield. When I first saw the images from Comiccon, I kinda laughed inside, because I had the same idea for my own shield using the anodized aluminum and brushed look. The back though is different from what I would do. Here is my progress so far. Had to take a break to work on Thor stuff, now I'm back to Capt. :)

Started with a blank aluminum turned dish:

tested the brushed look and drew out the lines and the center star

Cut the lines in and did a full brushed finish on her:

Now I am at a point where I need to do the straps and handle in the back. Then I'll finish up with the start and the paint job.

So, I do like the back of the movie shield, the "x" pattern with the straps.. however... I don't think i want to do this with my shield. Here's why: I do a lot of stunt work for shows and such where I've used shields often, and having a shield with a leather grip is not good for overall control of the shield. No matter how tight you make the leather grip, the shield still flopps around on your arm and it can't be controlled anywhere near the level that can be attained with a metal grip. So I think I will have a hard mount metal grip on mine. The strap over the forearm though, will remain adjustable leather. I think I will also have two separate straps that snap down flat, maybe in the "x" pattern, then when unsnapped will allow me to wear the shield on my back. Any thoughts on this? Thanks
