LOL agreed.

And yeah, they definitely have a tornado going on, I'd say that was pretty much fact now. Just a question of how they use it I suppose.

P.S. Just realised I passed 2,000 posts. Yay me! :D

Yup. I'll be disappointed if there is no Africa. Iron Man got Afghanistan (right?). Batman Begins got the Himalayas. TIH got Brazil. Fantastic Four got...Space :p So MOS should have Africa :)

The tornado...I say they should have it at the start, like STEP 1 to becoming Superman. Africa, STEP 2, and return home, STEP 3.

Congrats :D

Sees a future thread title 'Which was better SR's plane scene or MOS plane scene'

Prediction: MOS will win hands down :D

TIH? Which movie was that?

Oh that is right, I forgot about him.
It has already been stated that he will be in West Africa. I think that is probably one of the coolest story lines that could be used in the movie. I doubt they would not use it.
They are probably just filming it after the Smallville scenes. It makes sense to film that one after the Smallville scenes to give Cavill as much time as possible to get as defined as he can get for those scenes if they go the Birthright way and have Superman walk around without his shirt on for half the time he is there.

Yeah I think it's strange that people are freaking out about all the Smallville filming, as though just because they are filming a bit in Smallville now, it means it's going to monopolise the movie.

They are just starting with these scenes, it doesn't say anything about what time they will take up in the film.

the whole 2 and 1/2 hours of the movie will take place in Smallville.......with Clark sitting in the fields.........staring at the sky...........wishing he could fly........

that will be the whole movie........the new, modern interpretation of Superman that we have all been waiting and clamoring for......

Will Henry be shirtless in this field for the whole time? I think I could watch it then

General Zod
Bizzaro and Metallo
Brainiac and Doomsday

I think they'll do something similar to Earth One.

For example, the Kent's only manage to get Kal-El out of the ship. The Military arrive and take the ship and the possessions inside. Years later, Clark could go and retrive his Kryptonian belongings after scientists manage to unearth the ships secrets. Heck, could even release Zod and Faora from the Phantom Zone. Because in the early comics, it was Superboy's responsibility to let Zod out after he served his 40 years. Something like that.

It would be cool if Lex had something to do with the ship in someway. Could be a military scientist like in the comics reboot, or LexCorp has involvment with the ship, sparking Lex's obsession about the Kryptonian race? :)

Lex as a military contrator works wonders.

It seems like they may be merging 3-4 of the "trade paperbacks" we've all grown to love. If they were basing the movie on one, though, and I had to choose one--I believe it would be Birthright (although I didn't really care for the fake Zod part). What about you guys?

I would pick Superman:Earth One.
I don't like Birthright although I understand why some scenes could work in MOS.
I don't see any elements unique to Birthright which have been revealed to us as of yet.
The "confirmed" Africa scene is bull. That's just a rumor run amok.

Maybe so. I feel that Costner and Lane are more Birthright than any of the other Ma and Pa portrayals though.

official synopsis

"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves."

Basically confirms what we already know, Clark deciding to become Superman. Another plot synopsis that is super wordy but reveals very little.

I'm full of radical ideas right now. What if Lex was just Brainiac in disguise after he had been damaged during the destruction of Krypton. It sort of gives a more interest look at why he has such genius. Brainiac poses as a human until he can find Kal-El and use Kryptonian technology to reshape his old form. Luthor doesn't exist in this universe.

ummmm......no thank you........

What if....much like the young Kal-el, a late teens Zod, escapes the dying Krypton in an escape pod (perhaps a prototype pod, or a larger pod made for Lara and/or Jor-el: Zod could show how unsympathetic and selfish he is be forcefully stealing it). But instead of heading for Earth, it could be set to the nearest habitable planet in Krypton's now changing trajectory, as it shifts in orbit and breaks up. Zod ends up on a planet, with a similar but not exactly the same make up of Earth only more technologically advaced (no where near Krypton) and the inhabitants are a lot less friendly. Using the powers he finds he has on the new planet and his seeming intelligence Zod begins to make himself one of the most threatening beings on the planet, leading to him being in a position of power. He knows that Kal-el is out there and wants to destroy the threat of a Kryptonian (especially the offspring of Jor-el and Lara) somehow finding him and overthrowing him so he makes it his priority to find him and kill him. When zod locates Clark/Kal-el he also finds a planet he could rule over, however he has reached Earth at the point at which Clark/Kal-el has decided to become Superman and so Zod will have a fight on his hands

I would definitely go for the 'Lex as military contractor' setup.

Asides from being a lot more believable as a villain than the real-estate Lex we've come to know in the last few Superman movies, it also offers possibilities and potential for the rumoured Batman/Superman team up movie. Wayne Enterprises developed military gear, Lex is a military contractor, do the math.

The plot synopsis does little to excite me, but it's extremely vague anyway so I shouldn't let it shape my expectations of the movie too hard. However, there are some parts of it that concern me.

Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination.
I'm honestly just sick and tired of the whole alienated and alone concept that keeps getting wrapped around Superman. The worst part about it is that it just isn't in any way original or unique to Superman. And after Superman Returns, Smallville, and every other superhero movie, what more can this movie really say about it?

Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here?
The reason this is the ultimate question is because every single answer to the question sucks. Why is a Superman movie wasting itself on a hackneyed idea such as this?

Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer?
But I already know what he will choose. The question for me is how many scenes will I have to sit through until the movie finally gets to that choice and the story begins to feel like it is actually moving along.

question. although we have heard the jonah nolan has worked heavily on the script, why has he not received a credit in anything officially released by WB?
