I:bh:O, Hulk is the strongest one there is too. This thread is funny bc it's titled: The "Strongest" in the MU, not most powerful. If we are going off pure strength, there's only ONE character built for that. His name is synonymous with strength. IMO, cosmic beings shouldn't count.

True but strength doesn't always lie in muscle. The comics themselves should teach us that. And anyway isn't Red Hulk supposed to be stronger than Hulk or something?

In the Loeb series, Green Hulk was victorious.

I still say Death is the strongest character...Thanos had to become a titan in order for her to even think aboiut dating him...

Death can't be in the conversation and you know whats stronger than death Eternity and Infinity, death is its offspring.

Technically Eternity is not stronger than Death because Eternity will ultimately die due to entropy. If it dies, Death is technically stronger than it.

This is the guy anyway.

Kicks Death's butt.

I guess technically Infinity might be stronger than Death, unless time is ever destined to end at some point.

I doubt death is all that strong in any case. I mean sure she could kill anyone or anything but that doesnt mean she could overpower someone. Like how well would an abstract do in an armwrestling contest?

She doesnt even have a physical body. It'd be like arm wrestling with your inner demons.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. Giffen himself said in interviews that Drax was supposed to be weaker but a lot more cunning and with a lot more fighting skill, but I suppose the portrayals of him may not have backed that up. I really wasn't all that acquainted with Drax before the change in the mini, to be honest, so I'm going mostly off of hearsay of a few significant feats.

He still seemed quite formidable in the first volume, he survived the attack on the Nova corps, and was able to kill some Annihilation soldiers when Nova couldnt.

As for Nova vs. the Surfer, Nova's been weaker than I would've thought the entire Nova Force would make him. Then again, we know that the Worldmind has been siphoning some of his power for months now to create new Nova Centurions and resurrect the Nova Corps, so that may have something to do with it.

Sounds like, although even at full strength Nova would have trouble IMO, Hasnt Galactus made Surfer a bit more powerful now, I mean he destroyed a planet when fighting Ravenous in his Annihilation mini.

Drax' current power levels are a bit of a mystery all around.

He hasn't displayed any high end strength feats but at the same time he hasn't really shown ANY difficulty overpowering his enemies since the rebirth. I mean Nova-select was the only person who's given him trouble so far and that seemed mostly cause Drax was trying to run away rather than kill him.

In the original Drax mini it didnt even seem like he lost any strength just his flight and energy powers and changed his attitude about how to apply strength.

Economy of effort and all that.

And judging by the way he pretty much waded carelessly through the annihilation wave and killed everything in his path I'd say he's still pretty well up there in terms of strength.

If I were to guess i'd put drax in what I call "tier two" of the heavy hitter class. Along with guys like Leonard Samson, The Thing, Collossus etc.

I'd say he is higher in strength than all of those, the image change only weakened him in other ways as you say, but he still seemed pretty damn strong.

Ghost Rider was the only one capable of coming close to beating WWH.
IIRC, GR didn't even use his strongest attack against WWH...

 Strange and Reed were practically crying when GR left the fight, and Strange was physically afraid when GR took over in the fight too.

You guys totally destroyed my Death mentioning....I meant the character not the concept. Death? The actual character?

Death in the MU IS the embodiment of the abstract. It's not a character. It's like infinite or Eternity, no body, no flesh and blood, and thus (as far as i'm concerned) no strength.

Not really. He wasn't generally portrayed as being so powerful before. The rules with him have changed since his return, presumably because Marvel wanted him to be a more A-list character. Best way to establish that in Marvel's eyes is, of course, at the expense of other A-listers.

He couldn't hurt Thor or Iron Man in the past. Zarathos that is. Plus being a demon / devil gives humans power over him.

He get souped up?

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Apparently. Also, Blaze stole Dan Ketch's Penance Stare (that's me being snarky, not an actual plot point), so he's got that now.

And apparently he's not powered by a demon/devil anymore. Instead he's powered by an evil angel or something. So thats.... better?

In any case, my view of GR is pretty much, he's extremely formidable, and the nature of his powers are such that he could pose a threat to the majority of characters but in terms of raw power he's not on any toplists.

Dont get me wrong. I like the character and all. I just dont buy the latest hype that they're pushing in regards to him being all godlike and infinitely powerful. They do that with all kinds of characters every once in a while and it never ammounts to as much as they make it seem.

^But yet he was one of the only ones that wasnt steamrollered by WWH, when most/all others were, so his power stands for something. Especially as he had WWH in agony with the hellfire.

That's confusing, because that's exactly what demons are...fallen angles. So saying he's powered by an evil angel is the same thing as saying he's powered by a demon. It's like telling someone "I'm not eating a roll, I'm eating a croissant." It's the same thing, one just sounds fancier.

Not all demons are born of light, that's real life religion, not Marvel Comics. This particular demon may be a fallen angel, but keep in mind that doesn't all demons are. There's no Satan in Marvel after all, at least I don't think, and therefore wouldn't be a battle for heaven, where all the angels fell.

Why wouldn't he be one of the most powerful beings in the universe. He's a force, like death. You can't stop a force. Only slow it down.
