The summer of disappointments...

POTC 2 is a terible movie, probably one of the worst I've seen in cimema's this year. SR was also hugely disapointing, MI:III was OK, nothing spectacular. Da vinci code........tragic! X3, also dispointing. So yeah, this summer has sucked for movies, thank god for home cinema systems!

From all I've seen and heard, Pirates of The Carribean 2 is very much that film.
It has a lot of detractors, it was far from being unanimous. Doubt it will resist the test of time.

Superman Returns, Snakes on a Plane, Lady in Water and Poseidon anyone?Being a fan of Shyamalan and Singer it hurts that those weren't blockbusters.

snakes on a plane was alright, i wasn't expecting it to be good, so i wasn't disapointed. It was funny, not anything to rave about, but entertaining, a drunken lads nite movie i thinks!

This summer was indeed lackluster but X3 and the DVD made it passable. It wasn't nearly as bad at the summer of 2001.

I like some of the movies this summer. Pirates and X3 were the highlights for me. Both awesome films IMHO. Talladega Nights was another film I enjoyed. I like Will Ferrall, him acting like an idiot just worked for me. SR was all right... more drama than action. Miami Vice was how I expected it to be...plus I like Micheal Mann so I thought that film was good, Cars was good but still somewhat below the other Pixar films. MI3 well the Cruise missle is starting to get on my nerves and as hard as I tried when I watched to movie all I could think about was him yelling about perscription drugs.

Superman Returns had so much wasted potential.

X3 was a movie for the lowest common denominator. Nowhere in the same league of it's predecessors.

Pirates I wasn't impressed with the 1st so I wasn't expecting much more with the 2nd and while I was entertained, it was nothing especially spectacular.

This has to be the worst summer of movies I have ever seen.

There was a poll on IMDB about the best movie of the summer and I looked at them all and realized how bad this summer was. :down

Here's hoping that 2007 is better.

POTC2 and X3 were the best movies this summer and did not suck.

I enjoyed POTC 2 and X3 the most.
Especially with POTC 2 since i really didn't like it the first time around and now i've watched it 4 times now and i would watch it again and again :)

SR , is an okay flick , but really the only way i enjoyed Supes was in 3D IMAX.
Miami Vice was okay def. not great , Da Vinci Code sucked , haven't seen cars so i dunno what that movie is like , i'll catch ladt in the water on dvd , Poseidon was lifeless.

There still are some movies that need to open here in Holland such as Talleda Night and SOAP.

Is Seattle really clean?
Yes. Only one out of 12 residents are addicted to heroin. Needle sharing is at an all time low.
I can't even remember the last time I shared a needle.

Why 'thank god for home cinema' if all the summer movies sucked, seems like if all the movies sucked there'd be nothing to 'thank' for home cinema for.

Superman Returns was a blockbuster.

Good movies:
Pirates of the Caribbean 2
Superman Returns
Mission Impossible 3
Cars

Bad movies:
The Da Vinci Code
X3
Nacho Libre

don't we go through this "this was the worst summer ever" after every summer?

I'd like to remind everyone what we had to deal with last summer...

War of the Worlds
The Island
Stealth
Fantastic Four
Bewitched
Revenge of the Sith
Madagascar
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Batman Begins
Charles & the Chocolate Factory
40 Year Old Virgin

This year had the better CGI family film, better Marvel film, better Will Ferrell film, and even the better box office bombs (Poseidon kicks Stealth's & the Island's asses any day of the week). 2006 even had the bigger all-around blockbuster (Pirates). Plus, no crappy Star Wars prequels.

I'd say 2006 is coming out ahead of 2005, in terms of summer releases.

I bought 2 DVDS from last summer, ROTS and BB. I don't plan on buying any DVDs from this summer unless it's something with 45 minutes of deleted scenes (X3 I'm looking in your direction) or maybe SR with additonal scenes.
Other than that the only DVD I bought from this year was V for Vendetta.

Edit: I forgot I'd buy Clerks 2.

Bah, Batman Begins is in that list.
That made my whole summer a good one :D

So some of you actually liked "Snakes On A Plane"?
Is it worth seeing it in the theatre or better for rental?

Superman Returns hands down was the most disppointing movie of the summer. One only needs to recount all the media about it's poor box office numbers.

I thought that both Clerks 2 and Superman Returns should have made a lot more money, especially Clerks 2. It was easily the best comedy out this summer and my favorite movie in a while. It hurts me when crappy Will Ferrel movies dominate other movies that I and many other people feel are far superior. And no matter how much people ***** and moan about Superman Returns, I still felt it was an awesome movie.

I agree, Superman Returns was a good movie based off of Superman movies.

As in i watch my DVD collection on my widescreen TV with surround sound home cinema system in my room, instead of going to watch crap films in the cinema. (sorry if I was ambiguous!)

Ah, I thought you were saying you'd wait until these movies hit DVD and THEN watch them.
