So if they grafted all of Peter's memories onto Ben Reilly and had him defeat SpOck and say he is now Peter Parker, would you buy it? Or be mad? Would you consider it basically the same Peter Parker we've had?

So, basically follow through the one aspect that I hated about the Clone Saga which would have made me quit the title?

At this point it would be pointless. Marvel already got what they wanted, a single Pete, using an even WORSE method.

That does sound pretty silly. For all of Superior's downsides I doubt they would do anything that daft. And no I wouldn't consider that Peter Parker. It would just be Ben Reilly in the situation Doc Ock was in before he erased Peter.

Are the first 9 issues of this worth the read to a non-Ock fan? I read the set-up and issue 1, but the story seems like a stop-gap to me. Has it been satisfying up to this point to long-time Spidey readers?

I'm an even longer Spidey-Fan (cartoons since 1972, comics since 1975), and I'm loving it...

Of course, it helps that Doc Ock is one of my favorite villains...

:yay:

Me. too. And I'm about the same as TMOB (cartoons '72, comics '73)

Been a Spidey fan for nearly 20 years and I am loving it.

It's a big plus of course that Doc Ock is my favorite Spidey villain, no denying that. But that would make me more critical if the writing of this sucked. My favorite Spidey villain being lumbered with lame stories. But it's the total opposite. So far the writing has been excellent.

I haven't enjoyed the Spidey comics consistently this much in years.

I agree. His new direction is really drawing me in more than I thought. I do want Peter to come back eventually. I like to think of him as a survivor.

Cover to issue number 15 featuring the new suit...

I knew Otto would never stick to two arms and two legs.

Oh, and I found the cover for Scarlet Spider #20, which also features the new Superior suit

Can't wait to see this.

So excited! Spidey comics seem be to firing on pure quality on all levels. I'm loving Superior, Avenging, Scarlet, and Venom. This is indeed the age of Superior comics!

I love that Superior suit. It's just beautiful. I wish Kaine's permanent costume was more like that instead of being just a giant red onesie.

I've been waiting for some type of mechanical arms. Seems as though once Ock inhabited Peter's body he has had zero separation anxiety with his beloved arms. Granted, he has new toys to play with (Spidey powers) but still...

I am starting to miss the brighter suit. red and blue is just better suited to peter. The tone of the book is getting further from fun and more toward dark. Eventually he will be like batman with spider powers. He's already brooding.

It's not forever, might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

See, this isn't like the 90's where they're copying a model of storytelling off of someone else. Dan Slott is writing a wild, fun and epic story here. Not once has anyone hinted this is set in stone (like they did with the Clone Saga).

The only criticism I have is how long can this era go on before becoming stale. The train teased a stop in the last few issues but now with the recent solicitations it's obvious they are going full steam ahead and are going to explore every avenue available:

SpOCK vs Kaine
SpOCK vs Flash/Venom
SpOCK vs Hobgoblin
SpOCK reforming the Sinister Six as their leader......aaaaaaaaand

The eventual SpOCK vs Norman confrontation which will probably be saved as the best for last.

I'm looking forward to all of it. With Slott at the helm, it won't be some mindless fighting match-ups......the match-ups are just the hook. There's gonna be some kick ass story behind these confrontations, count on it.

Anyone know when the next issue is supposed to be out? I just started picking this up and haven't learned the release schedule yet.

May 22nd. Thought it was today since there was none last week but I guess it's one of those wait-two-weeks-until-the-last-issue-of-the-month, months.

Cool, thanks guys. I got caught up on 9 issues in two days and now I'm just itching for more.
