BvS The Superman Suit Thread - Part 4

I remember people saying that there is no silver undersuit this time, but Wilkinson confirmed that there is:

Also, now we know what that quote on the suit says. For those who don't know, Joseph Campbell did works in comparative mythology and religion. So, I'm familiar with the guy from my studies.

From my understanding, J Campbell was saying that all myths, legends and stories etc came from one source originally? If so, would that influence Snyder, in the fact that his DC universe is all connected - that WW is related to the kryptonian from 18,000 years ago?

That the history of kryptonian's going even further back when they 'seeded' the universe perhaps? Spawning life else where in the same condition that created superman (yellow sun)?

Wonder Woman and Superman aren't connected in that way.

Because I've been paying attention to everything that's been said about both characters in the lead up to the film.

Even if I wasn't, why the hell would they do that?

I'd rather see WW and the Amazons and Olympians have their own mythos, although I don't mind if there is some change from comic book canon.

That's what i am kinda thinking, that it's more connected then in the comics.

Boyscout, this also works as a reply for you... I mean, to me, i know for a fact Kryptonians explored the galaxy around them and had inter space travel. They could have easily seeded other planets and started 'new' races.

We know for a fact, a craft landed on earth 18,000 years before superman did.

Did the open pod represent a kryptonian living on earth and creating a new race or influencing society, how ever primitive or hi tech it is!

So with that in mind, it's easy to come to a conclusion that WW may have lineage with that origin.

Atlantians and this kryptonian spawned the amazons in this interpretation? Who knows for sure, but it's interesting, if nothing else to discuss and fits in with Jacobs theory.

Well, he did study a comparative religion and mythologies, so, naturally, he recognized the fact that myths and legends are far from being purely original, but take elements from one another and that it can be traced through history.

I don't see his quote being used as indicative of Superman's and Wonder Woman's origins being tied though (unless they tie Olympic gods with Kryptonians, which I sincerely doubt they'd do, I don't see that happening), it kinda goes in line to quote someone like him with the whole religious motifs and god-like figures theme that has been going on since MOS and this particular quote Snyder used actually fits quite well with the Justice League and what Superman and subsequently rest of the League stand for:

The full Joseph Campbell quote used on the suit.
"Furthermore we have not even to risk the adventure alone, for the heroes of all time have gone before us. The labyrinth is thoroughly known. We have only to follow the thread of the hero path, and where we had thought to find abomination, we shall find a god. And where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves. Where we had thought to travel outward, we will come to the center of our own existence. And where we had thought to be alone, we will be with all the world."

I prefer the BvS suit over the MoS suit.

I prefer MOS suit but I'm not going to complain about the changes. Just will point out that I wish the new suit wasn't so shiny and I'm loving how the designers are making the no trunks work for both Bats and Supes.

Wow. That's pretty cool to see. Am I the only one that thinks Cavill looks like a CG character there? It's mostly his suit

It's funny.... there were rumors that Superman's suit would be CGI like Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern suit. Obviously, it wasn't. That said... they use a similar process for action/flight scenes. Though, it's a CGI polish rather than mocap.

:hmr: watch this, the batman suit is too fat for me, but Superman looks great...

Looks like Cavill had a baby with Matt Bomer.

I approve. :o

Campbell's thought is based in Jungian theory of myth and archetypes. Core meanings about what it is to be human are unconsciously translated into symbols, and these transcendent meanings and their symbols--and common types of stories and figures that animate them*--are found to recur across cultures and time.

*Myths, folktales, legends, etc., and archetypal characters in them.

Suit looks a bit darker than it should though, doesn't it?

The colour seems perfectly right to me.
It's the material changes on the real one (sheer blue oversuit and the chainmail pattern being larger and more precise) that makes the suit's colour is lighter than before (due to light reflection on the chrome suit).

Possibly, but that Hot Toys figure still looks a bit darker than the film costume to me... perhaps it appears that way in this shot.

Honestly, I think we may never see the contrasting colored underoos worn on the outside again.

Not as underwear but I can see someone integrating more red into the crotch area.

Unless at some point comic book movies go for the retro look, yeah, it doesn't seem likely.

Supes looks great:

Suit is pretty much spot-on. When compared to all the other figures I can almost understand the price... almost.

Looks fantastic! It even has the Kryptonian script. Really visible on the left arm in that pic.
